Bought this and threw it away same day. It is useless, won't even melt solder.

After 20 minutes of soldering a small PCB the tip has a big chunk eroded away. All the spare tips are brass and apparently not suitable for soldering either, absolute scam.

Absolute rubbish! Firstly, the extra tips etc that were meant to be included were not in the sealed pack, Secondly, the cradle that come with it is rubbish. The alligator clips keep falling off which is more of a hinderance. Thirdly, the soldering itself is beyond useless. Takes forever to heat up and then struggle to melt solder to a sludge consistency. Not my first rodeo with solder, so I know how these things should behave. This falls well beyond short of the mark. Not sure how the manufacturers tested this product and deemed it fit for sale!

I was struggling with this soldering iron for a while until I realised what I was doing wrong.First, use an appropriate tip. I was using the default conical tip which is intended for fine point work e.g. surface mounts on pcbs. I wanted to solder heavier stuff so I switched to a chisel shaped tip which was able to melt solder much faster and spread the heat out better.Secondly, don't use the included sponge with water to clean the tip. You should use brass wire instead. Quenching the tip with water cools it off too much and you have to wait for it to heat up again. Might also accelerate oxidation. If the tip is oxidised you are going to have problems bringing it up to a useful temperature.Thirdly, Tin your tip after you have finished. Leave a big glob on the end to cool to protect it from oxidation. When you pull the iron out for use again, clean the excess solder off and you're ready to go.When soldering wires, you're supposed to use the iron to heat the wires and feed the solder onto the hot wire. If you instead just push solder onto the tip and drag the bead onto the wire, you are likely to create a cold joint.
Absolutely useless! When it works…, it is no where near hot enough. A waste of money!
This product is of extreme poor quality. With the solder, the tip of the iron has also melted.
Used it once and it takes forever to heat up, when it does heat up its not quiet hot enough. Went to use it a second time and now it won’t heat up at all…faulty. Will be returning tomorrow.
Tried it out the day I purchased it and as soon as I turned it on it tripped the mains supply to the house. Tried again to use it and it never heated up
Worked fine for maybe a few months but now it will not hear up at all. While it was working it did as advertised, heating up quickly and all that. I'm hoping to either get a refund for at least a replacement.
I brought this a few weeks ago and it works just as intended! I have so far fixed a few things which never worked to begin with. I would definitely recommend this product to other people.
