A very welcome labour saver appliance!

I already have 4 or 5 Ozito workshop & garden tools along with a couple of batteries & now this lawn edger is a very welcome addition. Mowing the lawn isn't a problem but now I find using a line trimmer to tidy the edges, results in aches & pains for me. Tried using a spade but same results to my body! When I searched the internet for a solution, I found this lawn edger to add to my Ozito collection. My lawn & garden borders are now looking great & with so little effort! With this first time use on overgrown edges & the challenge of Kikuyu grass, it seemed a little greedy on battery use. However it is quick charging & of course with a spare battery, this wasn't really a problem. Regular use in future should be a breeze.

Absolute Trash, don't buy. Save your money.

Easily the worst line trimmer I've used.Partners dad came over to help garden, I handed him the petrol gmc trimmer, but being the hippy that he is insisted that tools must be electric now.Well, what an absolute waste of time. My first and last electric garden tool experience.Absolutely gutless, a small pebble is enough to sieze the motor and stop it working. Card constantly snaps and sucks itself back into the head, triggers are dodgy. But really what can you expect from the absolute cheapest budget option available.Doesn't work, doesn't perform, absolute garbage.I'd throw it on the tip but I feel bad for the other garbage having to be close to it.

As powerful as petrol, but constantly re-spooling every 2 metres - unacceptable!

I purchased this new model so I didn't have this frustrating issue which the last entry-level corded trimmer made by Ozito had.

Broke down after a few months
14 November 2022

Bought this few months ago and it stopped working recently. As I didn’t have the receipt to solve this through warranty, i decided to open it and see what went wrong. It was a loose connection to the motor, which i could fix easily. It worked for a few days, and broke again. Im too lazy to fix this by myself again. The low power and plastic blades being weak are expected given the cheaper price.I’m giving one star, because the product kept breaking down only after few months of use.I lost my faith in battery powered outdoor tools because of this. I would go for a petrol powered equipment next time.

Do not buy this trimmer
16 October 2022

Do not buy this trimmer. It should not be allowed to be sold as it it seriously under performs."The Ozito OGT-0185 Cordless Grass Trimmer Kit is NOT ideal for trimming lawn edges, garden paths and grass around trees and shrubs."I bought this to trim a small lawn (2m x 6m) of some light grass (not buffalo or kikuyu). The cutting ability is so poor that I had to go over the lawn 3 times to get it to a reasonable level. It can't do the edges as the blade is ineffective as it is knocked out of the way rather than cutting. I should have bought one of the >$200 other brand models. Oh well, I forgot the well known lessons of you get what you pay for and paying twice.

Good value.

I bought this unit about 6weeks ago and l will happily say it is a good unit.Personally I run two 4.0 batteries which gives me plenty of run time and slightly counter balances the head. The shaft can easily be unscrewed halving the length which makes it perfect for jobs away from home.Comes with two line spools loaded ready to go.The bump feed is fair I find it easier to stop and manually pull the necessary line out.Inserting and removing the batteries is very easy. The operation thumb switch is a bit awkward but no real problem.5year warranty, Ozito products continue to improve.Well done Ozito 👍🏼

High quality power.

I purchased this based on reviews and was not disappointed. Unlike the cheap models, this trimmer works flawlessly. The line doesn't become tangled or broken every 5 seconds, in fact I did my entire property without stopping except to bump it 2 or 3 times to extend more line. The bump head is very good quality and the instructions are clear [Do not bump on hard surfaces such as brick or concrete (grass only) and only use the tip of the line and not the side and go slowly, making multiple passes instead of forcing it.] It makes me wonder if people read the instructions. If you are gentle with the bump head, it may last longer than you think. The item comes with the shoulder strap and replacement spool with prewound line. Also this trimmer isn't the kind that you ... MoreI purchased this based on reviews and was not disappointed. You buy bulk line and replace it yourself. Something I was very happy to discover.Very powerful but it has a variable speed trigger and I found that using a low speed was just as efficient as cutting the grass at high speed (and prolongs the life of your line)It also has an adjustable handle that slides to where you need it and locks into place. The unit is quite light but I needed to stop briefly a few times to give my arm a rest, possibly due to holding it wrong. (I haven't trimmed my edges in some years, I have been poisoning them.)Unit cleans up nicely with a brush and the instructions recommend not to use on wet grass which will make the motor run harder and possibly clog up the parts, making cleaning harder.I recommend this to anyone.

Lightweight, powerful, stupid-easy to use, and reloading line is ridiculously easy!

"I wouldn't buy an electric whipper-snipper, they're no good!" Such was the advice given by a family member, a die-hard advocate for petrol whipper-snippers.I'm sorry, but with all due respect - he couldn't be more wrong ... or at least he's never tried one of these little beauties. It's MUCH lighter than a petrol trimmer, but it's got plenty of power and handles even tough weeds with no trouble at all.The trimmer line is a single-strand feed, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's not up to the job. Wind the line onto the spool, snip it off the main spool, load it onto the trimmer and off we go.The one weakness of this model is the spool. It is made of quite thin plastic, and would need to be replaced after a few months. The trimmer comes with 2 of them, fully loaded with line. You can get replacement spools at Bunnings, fully loaded, and they're cheap enough. The unit uses the same batteries as the (awesome) PXC 18vx2 mower, which we also have. So I just share the batteries and charger between the two units, making them an ideal pigeon pair. But in summary - 10 out of 10 for this little beauty. Buy one, it's well worth the money.

Multiple design flaws. Regret buying

As some people have noted, the variable speed trigger is a pain (literally). To keep the thing cutting efficiently, the trigger needs to be held tight, which is very uncomfortable after only a few minutes. Going to break warranty and make it just on or off. The supplied line frequently breaks right at the end of the spool, or even inside the spool, which means I had to open the thing up multiple time in a half hour run. Comparing to my other trimmers, it seems as if the exit hole is just too sharp and the line fatigues quickly even without accidentally hitting a stick hidden in longer grass. The single line makes cutting painfully slow, and it's just as inefficient as my other dual line electric trimmers when one of the lines runs out. The bump head is extraordinarily stiff and I struggle to get extra line without stopping and actually pushing the thing in myself. My other battery trimmers are so easy, and I can't figure out the problem. Perhaps it's satisfactory for others with small yards and no experience with a good trimmer, but I'd expect much more from a 36volt machine.

One tough mother

Considering this edger only runs a single 18V Ozito battery (as opposed to my Ozito mower and line trimmer that run 2 18V batteries) it does a mighty job.I found that wet or slightly muddy ground will cause the edger & its blade guard to fill with compacted mud & cause some issue, but this is not the tools fault. I'm sure on dry ground during summer his will just smash all of the edges I put this edger through on wet muddy areas.Super tough, and the double edged blade cuts through heavy edges & grass runners with ease. This is the last tool I needed to finally replace all of my petrol driven garden tools.Get in quick as these are very limited stock (according to the Ozito rep at Bunnings) I waited 3 months for this one.Like the twin battery line trimmer I ... MoreConsidering this edger only runs a single 18V Ozito battery (as opposed to my Ozito mower and line trimmer that run 2 18V batteries) it does a mighty job.I found that wet or slightly muddy ground will cause the edger & its blade guard to fill with compacted mud & cause some issue, but this is not the tools fault.
