Well, having read their claims I bought it and hoped it would live up to them. 1st up was a 3 day stint, I set up by myself and it was no problem, all went well and I was impressed, it was a breeze. 1st night was windy with heavy rain, she took it all with no leaks, the 2nd day was even windier, she did well but did loosen a few pegs, so I got 8 longer thicker pegs for next time. As for space, 4 would be tight, but for 2 car camping, with trekking and camping gear, perfect. The blockout was nice and worked well, also happy I could walk in, I'm 180cm. End of time take down and pack up, just as easy, again I did it by myself, no problem. This was the first time, hope for many more, happy camping folks...... 4 stars for now, need to see how it stands the test of time, ... MoreWell, having read their claims I bought it and hoped it would live up to them. Don't buy a blackout tent if you camp in summer or North Qld/NT. The blackout material absorbs light/heat and in hot weather the rubbery layer absolutely cooks when the sun comes up. The Oztrail fast frame tent itself is well designed with handy internal pockets and hooks. Well sealed entry for power cords and the foot level mesh windows allow a breeze to hit you laying on the floor. If you encounter rain be aware the awnings dont run off water well, and if left up will leak through the now horizontal door zips. Overall a very good tent, just avoid the blackout material if you camp hot climate areas.

Having erected many tents the old fashioned way I must say the fast frame tent was not much faster. The fibreglass pole which was inserted in a sleeve over the entrance presented a problem as the interior of the tent is so dark and the sleeve is very narrow and the same colour as the rest of the tent. The supplied pegs were also not up to the task in the area where we tried out the new tent. The interior ventilation and the block out effect are excellent. A shaped tarpaulin to put on the ground in front of the entrance would be a welcome addition.

This is a very easy tent to put up, our first set up took less than 15 minutes all pegged out. When the fly is all zipped up, the dark room is amazing, with only a small amount of light coming in under the fly. Not a drop of water made it in during a heavy downpour, and it hardly moved in strong winds. This is with the tent all zipped up, which we learned the hard way. When the front awning is fully extended, like the first picture shows, a few things happen: 1) the dark room effect goes away. 2) the inner tent is exposed, if you get horizontal rain, water will get in. 3) The awning catches rain water and drops it onto whatever is below, as the zipped window sections are not waterproof. The awnings are therefore for shade only, and shouldn't be used for anything ... MoreThis is a very easy tent to put up, our first set up took less than 15 minutes all pegged out. Just don't plan on using the awning areas for anything other than shade, and zip it right up at night if you want to keep that early sunlight out.
Awesome tent - takes about 10 mins to get the structure set up, but then you need to peg it out and make sure you put the fly on correctly and velcro to the poles. Very easy to pack away (after removing the 30 or so pegs!) Love the room inside - very spacious and great ventilation with lots of different ways you can open windows, set up awnings, etc.We are a family of 5 and it suits us perfectly. We have two in each of the end rooms and 1 in the middle room and everyone sleeps comfortably. The zipped room dividers are great. Really happy with the purchase - also make sure you buy the oztrail mesh for protection under the tent.
I bought what I thought was a fast tent to put up. However you need 2 people and although I did it took us an hour. No instructions either. Once it was up it was great, wonderful space, but I haven't been camping since because it's too much effort. Perhaps the next time will take 20 mins because we now know how it goes.
Beaut tent. Plenty of ventillation. Good design.Easy to erect. Great size for a couple with plenty of room. The blockout is effective, (though with only one camping trip it is coming off in a lot of places.)
This tent is perfect for a family allowing separate rooms to not disturb each other when leaving/entering the tent. We used the side rooms as bedrooms and the middle area as living/storage.The shaded ‘veranda’ is an ideal cool sitting area and the multiple vents allow the inside temperature to be controlled. The black-out is amazing, you cannot even see you hand in front of your face!If I had one criticism there could be more storage compartments inside the tent, although there are some.
It was a stupid mistake to not test putting this tent up before going camping - it took 3 savvy campers more than 2 hours to figure it out in 35deg heat. Not only are the instructions useless and extremely hard to follow, but the tent/poles were also put onto the tent incorrectly which resulted in one of the tent poles breaking off (because you're trying to figure out the instructions and how to bend the poles). We had to undo a couple of the poles and reattach them because there was no way of getting the tent up without doing so. The pole that fell off at the beginning had to be screwed back in, but now the screw has lost grip and probably can't come out again. Overall, terrible experience. Also, it's not really block-out unless you have ALL the windows and doors ... MoreIt was a stupid mistake to not test putting this tent up before going camping - it took 3 savvy campers more than 2 hours to figure it out in 35deg heat. Ordered on a Tuesday and received 48 hours later (SA to Regional VIC), excellent shipping as always. We ordered this tent for our family of 2a 5c and there is plenty of room for us leaving the middle room for storage. Each end room can fit 3 single air beds. Setup is a breeze (we purchased to replace our canvas 10p tent that takes nearly 2 hours to fully setup with the kids running around). Around 20 mins setup for the first time but I reckon we can smash it down to 10 mins with 2 people next time (including pegging it out Inc the ropes) and a similar amount of time for packup. The material used seems to be sturdy and it held up to reasonably mild winds without a hassle. Time will tell if it can hold up to stronger winds but based on the construction I'm confident ... MoreOrdered on a Tuesday and received 48 hours later (SA to Regional VIC), excellent shipping as always. We ordered this tent for our family of 2a 5c and there is plenty of room for us leaving the middle room for storage.
