Padlock Abus Diskus 20/70

The likelihood of this lock being picked on the street is almost zero in my opinion. Only about 11 people in the whole world can pick this lock in my opinion. It will not keep out the government, but it will keep out about almost everybody else in my opinion.

4 pin core

Solid lock, but. disappointingly. only has a 4 pin core..... my 10 year old raked it open with a pick in under a few seconds. No kidding..... Good solid build and design, except for the poor quality core......

Abus discus lock

I had been struggling to get hold of some original vanvault locks needed a pair of similar of replacement locks keyed alike.Unfortunately screwfix dont sell them in pairs with the same keys, so I got them from an internet site.The abus locks fit well, seem quite good and turn smoothly. The keys are ok, but nowhere near as good as the original vanvault branded keys. They are better than kasp lock keys which I have brought from screwfix previously.

Best high quality lock

High quality lock. I looked into many types of locks to compare which locks were vulnerable to lock picking and cutting. This lock appears to be one of the best. The lock opens and closes smoothly, I am very happy with this lock.

Great locks at a great price

ABUS was the first company to release a disc padlock, and theirs are still (in my opinion) at the top of the line. I use these locks on my storage unit and to lock my gun cases, and the pick resistance of the ABUS plus core alongside the stainless body, keyway cover, and guarded shackle inherent with the design make these locks a great deal.

Hard to operate; lubrication no help. Will probably fail to operate after a couple of years outdoor.

Difficult to operate the key, even after every interior opening was sprayed with WD-40. The lock works well enough, but I will replace it with a more rugged lock. I believe the Abus 20/70 will seize after a couple of years outdoors, The mechanism feels poorly constructed because the key is hard to turn.The disc lock it replaced had a five pin core. For over twenty five years outdoors it operated easily; though of course I kept it well lubricated. I was never concerned about the key not turning.

Not the same quality.

Seems like a knockoff of the ones I got years ago.Rattles, physical appearance has scuffs and tool marks, door is way harder to open.

Solid and secure diskus design

Much like the stainless model with the all weather design this appears to be quality product for securing storage units and enclosed cargo trailers. While no lock seems to be perfect these days, the diskus design at least helps with a forced attack focused on the lock. This model includes a "shroud" over the keyway for pick resistance and looks like it would slow someone down, but not make the lock pickproof which is not unexpected at this price point. It'll be interesting to see how it does in the ice and snow of winter.

Your item pictured is not the item that is shipped. The pictured item clearly shows the shackle as being "HARDENED" quite different then just Stainless. If I didn't need the lock now I would return it.

When you need to most secure lock available

This is the most pick-resistant lock you can buy for less than $50. It may even be the most pick-resistant lock you can buy for less than $100. The cut resistance is also excellent, but I don't know for a fact if it's the very best available (it might be!).I bought this lock because I have a family member who I know for a fact can pick locks and this has thwarted them quite successfully. Of course, The Lockpicking Lawyer (see YouTube) has designed a pick capable of opening this type of lock (disk detainer) but that requires buying a special tool and then learning an entirely different kind of picking technique to open it.
