Bottle ShapeThe curvature of the bottle neck is easy to hold, even with soap and greasy hands. This is good when dealing the larger bottle. The curve minimises the risk of dropping the bottle or over squeezing due to slippage. 2. Effective Cleaning Power:Only a small amount is needed to fill the sink with suds, and when washing directly with a sponge, just a pea-sized amount is sufficient to clean a greasy dish. 3. A big busy family like mine means mountains of dishes to get through. When the dishwashing liquid smells 10/10 AND cleans like a pro, you know it is a good day! I love the shine on all the dishes and a little really goes a long way with this product. I had really greasy pans and I found I did not have to wash multiple times to get rid of any smells or oils. When the liquid smells nice, it's a win! This product makes me feel good about doing the dishes! Great stuff! Overall our family rates this highly!

I have used this brand for the last 25 years. I love Palmolive. It's very versatile, concentrated and stong cleaner. I use it not only to wash dishes but also other cleaning around the house. also good for a quick, on the spot, detergent for clothes, especially food/grease stains (of course, hand washing only.) I can't use Dawn or some other brands of dish soap because for some reason, after a few uses, those soaps make my sponges and cleaning cloths give off this horrible scent and if I handle them, my hands will smell the same for several days, and it make me nauseous. Just to note, I never leave my sponges dirty or wet all the time. I never have this issue with the Palmolive brand dish soaps.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion. ] This product has some great elements. Its long lasting suds and ability to clean up really greasy pans was excellent. I cannot stand the smell though. It is so fake. With so many lovely natural scents out there such as apple or lime, I find this very fake and chemical smelling. If they could change that, i would get it again. Although I get this is the 'original' scent, so they may not want to steer away from this. But I won't get it. Its ability to clean dishes though I was really impressed with and will look for others scents.

Cleans great.... smell is not so great

Ok, so I came to the website to see if they sold the Ultra Strength in a different scent. Like others, I really, REALLY don't like how it smells. I was using the Free & Clean in "lavendar & eucalyptus" scent, which was heavenly, but can't find it in any stores in that scent anymore. Anyhow, I used this and was very impressed by how squeaky clean it gets my dishes, so was baffled with the other reviews that say it doesn't clean. I have a split sink and fill half with soapy water to soak and clean my dishes. I never just use a sponge and soap. Maybe that's the difference--doing it that way dilutes the smell and gives the detergent some time to work on dirty dishes when you submerge them in soapy water for a few minutes. Maybe the yucky smell of the Ultra Strength has something to do with the cleaning agent used. I'm guessing it might have a strong unpleasant smell and this is the best the company can do to cover it up with perfume. Long story short: I think it works so well that I'll tolerate the smell until I can find something else that does the job with a better scent because in this instance, function is more important than form.

So long as a particular product functions as needed, a certain type of second-tier brand loyalty develops, which is the case with Palmolive. Never (in 56 yrs of marriage) have we lived in a home with a dish washing machine, so many, many brands and sizes of dishwashing liquid have been purchased and used. Since 1987 when our male offspring left for University, only 2 adults and a varying number of felines have been in residence. Felines have not shown any preference in this matter.Budget has always been tight, so counting pennies for a variety of items has been important. My Thistleware is clean and pots/pans get clean based on elbow grease more than product. And it is a lovely deep emerald color.Oh yes, hubby uses Palmolive to handwash his compression socks.To be honest I prefer the “no color or scent added” liquid but am not willing to pay extra for having ingredients removed. I have yet to understand this concept.In the end, my life will not be judged based on dishwashing liquid so I will happily continue with Palmolive.

New review of bad smell reported for past 5 yrs

After reading all the reviews, I agree and wasn't going to leave one, but since I have been using the refill size for the past five years (really, I'm very frugal) of the original formula, and because I actually bought another refill size about a year ago and didn't realize that the label indicated ultra strength, I wanted to post my experience. I also just recently bought a small size so I could use by my sink- it was ultra strength also. I opened the new small one and the smell was so chemical, that I knew I couldn't use it. So I opened the 5 year old refill bottle to see if it was any better (hoping for the best, since I'm finding companies are changing the formulation and not indicating it has changed).
