35 years ago i bought my first National (as it was then) Genius. Loved it. Replaced it with a new Panasonic Genius model 17 years later. That didn't miss a beat until last week when it gave a little 'Pft' and died. I honestly didn't consider any other brand. The new one looks very smart and performs even better than my old one. The menus are easy to follow. I like that they are clearly printed on the door frame. The defrost function is certainly improved. I look forward to trying out some of the additional functions such as for melting chocolateLove the sensor cook particularly for vegetables and use it nearly every day. So convenient. Couldn't imagine messing around with cooking by weight.

We purchased 2 new microwaves as we were having trouble with opening the door on our old panasonic microwaves. We purchased 2 and had issues within one in the first 2 weeks which was then replaced. 6 months in we are now having the same trouble with the other 2. The spring in the door release button fails stopping the door popping open. This is a problem as our microwaves are encased in the surround kit and can not be opened simply by pulling the door open as our fingers don't fit in the space. Very disappointed especially as I read reviews before purchasing which praised panasonic for fixing this ongoing problem..

Excellent in all features of operation, but display is very poor, as many other reviews noted. Thought it cannot be that bad (as it replaced its Panasonic great predecessor which was what led us to Panasonic again) but it is hard to read in even a reasonable light condition, let alone at night, near on invisible. Why on earth Panasonic did not pick this up in testing a new model is a mystery. display is poor even at close distance, whereas its predecessor could be read way back in a dark room with no lighting at night.

We had an old Panasonic Genius microwave that was 25 years old and was still performing well but a recent kitchen renovation meant we upgraded to the newer model. The front panel looks really smart but once we plugged it in we realised the display is lit with a blue light that is impossible to read from any distance. Why this was decided is quite a mystery as it is quite unreadable. The front panel also is shiny and shows finger marks but the microwave itself is extremely quiet and super efficient. It's just that at this price point we expected all the design features to be really well thought out. My advice would be to ask for it to be plugged in before you buy it!
After 20 plus years, many technological changes since my last buy, I researched purchasing a new microwave at length. Never could I know a LCD light colour would be a 'something to consider'. Disappointed to say the least, cannot read the LCD screen makes it difficult to impossible to manage/use this microwave. The Blue LVD Screen is unreadable unless I use a step stool!
Sensor cooking is great. The issue of difficulty reading the royal blue digits in the display effects those whose eye-level is lower than the display. If looking down on the display, it is ok to read. Although the unit is rated as 1100 watts, I've found it uses up to 1600-1700 watts in some settings. When using micro power, the power used is higher initially, then slowly decreases over a few minutes. Standby uses a massive 70 watts, so I turn it off at the power point when not in use. Important to know if you're off-grid. Overall I'd rate my deceased old Sharp Carousel as superior.
This new Panasonic M/wave was purchased Dec 2020 to replace Our Panasonic 44 L. M/wave inverter purchased May 2013 which failed. the old M/wave control panel was more user friendly and could select times down to 1 second. The cooking options were also easier to use than the new M/wave. Apart from the control Panel functions the M/waves are identical. the old one looked new when it failed but would have cost more to repair than to replace. I would recommend that a prospective buyer download the user manual and familiarises themselves with the control function panel to understand it's difficulties before purchase this model. I would recommend that a prospective buyer download the user manual and familiarises themselves with the control function panel to understand it's difficulties before purchase this model. It can take some time to get use to it and if you need to use a time less than 10 seconds ie 5 seconds or so then you will need monitor the countdown and interrupt the operation of the M/wave at the appropriate time required. You could also choose a 40 to 60% power for the min time of 10 seconds. As I said it takes time to get use to the new controls. I have read many reviews on this M/wave and there are many criticisms of the owners, some of which may be well founded and others due to a lack of understanding. There have been people who say its difficult ton read the control panel unless it is in a bright lit room. The control panel as supplied has an imperceptible anti scratch peel-able protection film that should be removed before operating the M/wave to ensure the panel is easy to read. There is no instruction identifying this and I suspect many people have not taken the film off and complain the panel is difficult to read. I do wish I had the old M/wave control panel, but hey that's life.
I have had a Panasonic microwave for the past 10 years and enjoyed using it everyday. Unfortunately it needed to be replaced. I was told that the best microwave for my space would be the NNST776SQPQ This was not the case The blue light on the display window is impossible to see. Frankly I am amazed that Winning Appliances still stocks this model. I have now discovered that most of the reviews complain of the same problem. Winnings have now offered to replace this model with an upgraded model.which I expect to receive on the 10th December 2021
Researched thoroughly and not disappointed. Replaced the Sharp that sits at the top of the Choice rankings (we blew it up - whoops). The inverter works well - smooth power at any % level. Interface is pretty good - slightly annoying when you finish cooking and want to type some more time, usually you have to press stop/cancel first. Would be nice if it had a individual seconds input, not just 10min, 1min and 10sec. Operation is very quiet. No annoying afterblow on the fan like the Sharp does for a full minute. Well lit interior - good colour LED and white panels inside. Conveniently large plate. Beeper is not as loud as the Sharp - good for me - YMMV, and just beeps once at the end and doesn't keep bugging you if you ignore it (again, good for me, maybe not for ... MoreResearched thoroughly and not disappointed. Beware - the clock/display is basically impossible to see unless you stand right in front of it. Some very similar model Panasonics have a clear white display. For some reason, they think it's a good idea to have a dark blue one on this model which has no contrast against the black background - like many people say, you will struggle to read it from a distance. Happy with the door opening button and the tolerances on the doors and build quality. Things close and open firmly and securely, no rattles, but not too loud or clanky either.
