I love this. It is hard to find a good old pocket-size compact camera with a zoom. I have a good camera on my phone of course, which is OK for convenience and close-quarters shots. But this has an excellent 30x optical zoom Zeiss lens so you can get shots at a distance for candid shots or details of nature or architecture. Saves in RAW if needed, too,I have a separate bridge camera which has a much bigger zoom, but it is not something you can just slip in your pocket like this one. Love itI would have given this one 5/5. The only thing I did't like was that it is supposed to allow wireless Wi-Fi photo tranfser. It does do this, but the process is awful. You have to use an intemediary app on your phone and I eventually gave up and just used a cable

Very versatile and handy. I have also owned the TZ95, and don't see any difference. The long zoom is useful sometimes, and the viewfinder is definitely useful. It is very fast to lock focus - for moving objects, and when in burst mode, it does not slow or stop writing to the card. The image quality is very good for this sensor size. I mostly shoot at Aperture priority bracketing 5 at 2/3 stop on high quality plus RAW. There are a great many optional settings (e.g. shutter priority on focus - don't shoot if no focus) and when coupled with a user-defined quick menu and configurable function buttons, it makes for great personalisation. Manual focus using front ring; shoot with sun in shot results in high speed electronic shutter (auto if required). After-shoot RAW ... MoreVery versatile and handy. To use the LCD overhead, I shoot with the camera upside-down and the LCD swung fully out, then rotate the picture later: this is when I have to shoot over the top of a hedge or wall. The post-focussing is poorly implemented and not worth having (unlike with the GX8 I have). Read the manual for all the features and decide function key assignments. The lens compares very very favourably with the TZ10 and (up to 400mm) with the FZ200 - it equals or surpasses. I find the base ISO of 80 a little grainier than other cameras - but this in no way bothers me. It is a little bulky for the pocket, but worth it for me. Lens flare is quite acceptable - unlike the TZ200 I had to return.

This is my second camera from the Lumix range. It certainly packs a lot into a small package, covering every photographic situation. However, in my case I have traded in my mirrorless system camera for a compact camera better suited to my photographic needs without the bulk.

Easy to use - Yes - but you have to set it up properly - YouTube is a good starting place. The controls are small but so is the camera, it easily fits into a jacket pocket, or even a jeans pocket. If you are going to carry it this way make sure you fit a screen protector! I use a Sony full frame as my main camera, however there are many occassions that I dont want to carry even a mirrorless camera and that is where this little guy comes in. The image qualty is very good considering how small the senor is - stabilization is good and the zoom range is excellent. The last point has turned out to be a real bonus. I did not expect it to perform as it does - however it works best in good light and I am very pleased to have a 720mm equivelent focal length ay my disposal. ... MoreEasy to use - Yes - but you have to set it up properly - YouTube is a good starting place. Just a couple of tips - use ISO 80 for this camera where possible, resulting images are cleaner. Rember that when you zoom in the F stop changes - it doesn't change back when you zoom out, you have to change it manually - not a big problem as after a while you do it automatically. One final bonus for me iare the 4k photo modes - shoot in 4k and save a still from the video, all in camera - yeah!! Would I recommend this camera for the casual travel photographer? - You bet I would!!

Great Zoom but extremely 'noisy' image quality
25 December 2023

I'm a professional photographer for a school + do a lot of hiking and camps.I wanted some other than my heavy and bulky SLR kit(s) to take on camp and travel with the student.I initially liked this camera because of the zoom range and that it could still shoot RAW (I shoot everything RAW). There are a good number of other functionalities that I like. However, its ability to handle digital noise is extremely poor (even just beyond iso 800), and requires me to heavily post-process the image to get sharp/clean images. At only 3 months, I almost feel like giving it away and looking for something with better image quality.

Interesting replacement for my last compact camera
23 October 2023

I previously had a compact Sony Rx 100 but that fell into the sea with disastrous consequences. I use a Nikon as my main DSLR so it was quite a change coming to Panasonic. I’ve only had the camera for just over a week and only taken a dozen or so photos. I’m pleased to say that it is a joy to use, all the controls that I have used have been easy to locate. The viewing screen is very good and I’m also very pleased with the wide angle and zoom facilities. I may add to this review subsequently when I have had a chance to use it manually and have taken advantage of more of its capabilities.

Love this TZ95 . I bought this mainly for the larger processor than my TZ70. It is quite sophisticated and a bit difficult to get your head round all the various functions but once there it is quite intuitive. As always the Leica lens quality is superb. It is a bit bulkier than the TZ 70. and a new case was required. It took some time and a couple of tries to get a good easy access fit with a separate front storage compartment for 2 spare batteries which are quite chunky.I particularly like the 180 degree tilt and touch screen and the display for choosing programmes in Scene modeA full manual would have been a bonus as the download is 341 pages therefore too expensive to print. I would have paid an extra £10 for a full manual.

Please don’t stop making compact cameras
26 April 2024

I have owned a Lumix TZ40 for over 10 years. It’s superb and, with its optical zoom, still much better than phone cameras. I want to upgrade and looked at the TZ200 and TZ100 but the TZ95D seemed to offer so much. However, I can’t find a new one in the UK and used prices are now much more than the stated new price from Panasonic. Like other reviewers, I am older and don’t want to lug around heavy cameras with multiple lenses, just a good all in one solution.

I bought the TZ95D a couple of weeks ago as a replacement for my TZ25 which I had for over 10 years. I can only think that this is because of the rise in some people using their mobiles as their main cameras. To ensure I was future proofed and because I love Lumix premium compacts so much, I have bought the TZ95D and will also try and find another LX100ii. I would respectfully ask that Panasonic has a rethink! The TZ95D - Love the articulated screen but it still performs well in its fixed position. Great for discreet street! The pre programmed modes and filters are fabulous to mess around with and now I am used to the quick menu, the camera will mainly be used in manual.I took a long time before choosing the TZ95D and looked at the TZ2000 because of the larger sensor. What sold the TZ95D was the articulated screen, the Leica lens and the zoom, I can live with the small sensor as I have the LX100ii.Ending on a small plea and a big ask, keep making your premium compact cameras Panasonic. The MFT of the LX100s with an articulated screen as well the EVF and at the sacrifice of a slightly larger size, maybe a 10x zoom? If not, then keep producing the current LX100ii! Panasonic has such a large following who love their compact cameras. I know so many older photographers who are downsizing and looking to continue their photography so there is still a space in the market for your compacts.

Very user-friendly compact digital camera
9 June 2023

Bought to replace previous Panasonic Lumix, which had badly scratched lens. Used on recent trip to Alaska in challenging (wet) weather conditions. Very pleased with results. Good zoom range. Fast response. Good HD video recording. Clear viewfinder, flip to reverse a useful feature for selfies. Camera has quite a range of sophisticated features yet to be explored. Pleased with my purchase. Much easier to carry around than full DSLR. There is quite a range of Lumix cameras, this seems to be a good option.
