Pros: Decent Controls, Decent Starter Zoom Lens, 宓 4-3 Swappable Lenses, Micro Four-thirds Lenses, 宓43 Standard Ic Lenses, Cheap 3rd Party Batteries, DSLR Quality, Superzoom SizeCons: Super-short Usb Cable, PROPRIETARY USB CABLE, Proprietary BatteryOther thoughts: The body of this camera is no larger than our superzoom point and shoot camera. The lens can't retract into the body, however, so the overall size is thicker with the starter lens. Panasonic also has a very good pancake lens that would slim this up, but you lose the zoom. Panasonic doesn't appear to sell a longer one, either, so you'll either want to use a USB extension cable, or buy a longer 3rd party cable.Ultimately, it's the quality that matters, though, and you will be able to achieve that narrow depth of field that comes with narrow FOV lenses. While the sensor is only about half the size of a typical DSLR, it is also 9x bigger than a typical point and shoot. The images are way less noisy than a P&S, especially the raw images. Did I mention that you can shoot raw? This a great camera. You get most of the IQ benefits of a DSLR, but because there's no viewfinder (and therefor no mirrors) it's much more compact, and you can get it for a very good price. Recommended!

I bought this specifically to mount my old Pentax 110 and Canon lenses without a horrendous crop factor (I'm looking at you, Pentax Q!). They all work well, except for manual focussing, which is not so bad. But then I bought the Lumix 12-32 and 14-140 zooms and some extension tubes, and, in conjunction with the up to 8x digital zoom in this body, my lens array is now complete for all my photo needs. Body and lenses are light and compact, and the quality is fine for me. As I came almost directly from the film era to the digital one, I am gobsmacked by the range of features packed into this tiny body/lens combo. But then, I am a gadgeteer at heart.

To get best color representation, one has to download camera color profile. Beyond that, this camera has every feature I could imagine. Okay, my last camera was a 35mm Pentax and a Canon T70. This smaller profile and lighter weight makes it really portable unlike any 35mm camera I've see besides maybe the really high end ones. Excellent value.
I bought this camera for my husband for his birthday. He has been wanting a SLR and when I spoke to the saleman at the camera department about the problems he has had with his newest camera (bought last year), the difficulty of learning it, he suggested I not buy a SLR. At least not yet. They are expensive, bulky, heavy and all attachments are expensive as well. This camera has all and more than a SLR and is easier to use, lighter in weight and costs much less. There are many things still to learn about this camera and all it's functions but he is having a blast playing with it. The pictures are so clear. We can even take out the SD card and look at the pictures on our TV. He is very happy with this new camera. It's a great buy.
This is a great little travel camera. I have several micro 4/3's lenses and an Olympus EP-3. I saw the GF-3 with the new compact Lumix G Vario 14-42 compact standard telephoto and bought it mostly for the lens. That said the lens is ok but I really like the camera. I know it's been called more of an advanced point and shoot in some publications when comparing the new ILC cameras; but it doesn't have to be. It takes great pictures has very fast auto focus and is so comapct that I can throw it and an extra lens or two in a small bag and stow it in my backpack when I travel for work. I know the Olympus EP-3 is geared toward more advanced shooters compared to this camera but there is one annoying trait I've experienced with this and other PEN cameras that hopefully Olympus can fix. Certain lighting (indoor) situations seem to confuse the camera and it literally locks up taking a while for the camera to process the image. Panasonic seems to have avoided this problem by allowing the camera to click off several pictures in succession and when you go to playback the iamges it then processes them and writes them to the card. That's my take anyway. As a result I'm anxiously awaiting the Lumix GX-1 to hit the shelves so I can give that a try.
Overly simplified and thus confusing. THE TOTALLY IGNORANT WILL BE PLEASED. A bit too small but nicely done. I have eight other m4/3 cameras (olympus & lumix) and this is the only one that took a week to find menu item "shoot without lens". Downnloaded manual found no mention of vintage lens attachment.
Fast shutter action good picture quality choices and will even give effects in camera as pictures are taken . Good for any amature willing to get into photography or just good picture taking on a day out . With a 4/3rds adapter you can use any manual lens not just panasonic lenses. Only downside is lumix lenses themselves for Auto focus can get a bit pricey sometimes. Very pleased by the camera and pictures it takes.
Bought this camera because was tired of taking pictures by mobile phone camera. I was looking for something that could make high-quality pictures and would be light-weight and compact in same time. Investigated tons of reviews of some mirror and mirrorless cameras and at last have chosen this small piece of great technology. What I like in Panny GF-3 is outstanding focusing time - its really rapid! The battery life is also at reasonable level - I got even more than 340 pictures(figure said in instruction). And, of course, the price is just tiny for such an excellent quality camera, especially with the Lumix Vario G X 14-42 lens. This collapsible zoom lens is a great idea, but the image quality was very disappointing. I have a DSLR, and I love the image qualities, but it's too bulky to travel with. I bought this camera with a big hope that I can take it to anywhere and take great pictures. Compact, yes, but... all indoor pictures came out blurry. I took a lot of pictures of my dogs, and even with the sports mode, they were all super blurry. My 3 year old PS camera can take much better pictures than this. I updated the software on the lens via Panasonic's website, but it didn't solve the problem. I googled "14-42 X blurry." I was surprised to see so many people having the same issue with this lens. I hope Panasonic is listening to the users and working on correcting the issue with this lens. ... MoreThis collapsible zoom lens is a great idea, but the image quality was very disappointing. I love the portability of this lens & camera, but the image quality needs major improvement. It's definitely not worth [$]. I returned this camera, but I might give it another shot once Panasonic releases a second generation of this lens.Adorama's customer service was great! They listened to the problems I had with this camera and issued me a return label right away. I would definitely shop here again.

With an adoption of new mount, the DMC-GF3 achieves dramatic downsizing compared with the predecessor DMC-GF2. It breaks the record of being the world's smallest and lightest interchangeable lens system camera again. Even though pursuing the ultimate compactness, Panasonic did not compromise in the equipment of camera such as built-in flash. The DMC-GF3's tiny, stylish round-form design adopting aluminum dispels impression for conventional big, heavy and colorless digital SLRs. It is stunningly compact but yet comfortable to hold with the new ergonomically studied grip. Operation is also smooth and easy with new control dial and so on. The DMC-GF3 features the world's fastest level of Light Speed AF featuring approx. 0.1 second which is achieved by reducing the detection time for focusing by doubling the drive speed from 60 fps to 120 fps. Not only the accuracy but also the speed excels by far than the high-end digital SLRs with phase-difference AF with the advanced contrast AF system in the DMC-GF3. Combined with the touch AF control, setting and focusing at the subject is incredibly easy and quick, never missing the spur-of-the-moment. With the world's first introduction of digital interchangeable lens to make 3D shooting possible with an interchangeable lens system camera, Panasonic proposes to enjoy high-quality shooting in 3D with the DMC-GF3. This new compact 3D-capable interchangeable lens, LUMIX G 12.5mm / F12, allows easier handling and instant 3D shooting with cameras without a special structure for 3D shooting. It produces 3D images without distortion or time lag between left and right images, even for moving objects. The 3D images, even close-up shots, taken with this lens are easy on the eyes when viewed on VIERA 3D TVs. Panasonic made a breakthrough by adding this special way of unprecedented expression in photography with outstanding ease with the innovative technology.
