I am so glad I bought this over the Lumix 25mm 1.4 version. The whole reason I bought into the MFT system was for how light and compact it is. This with the GH6 doesn't disappoint. I still have full frame systems including, Nikon, Canon and Sony. This is so much more fun to use and the image quality is very acceptable. I plan on using it in some of my professional work now that I have had a couple of months to evaluate and learn the GH6.

I was giving up hope on my Panasonic GH4 which had a 45-105mm f/4. The video quality was very poor and grainy because of the aperture. I wanted to be able to shoot in low light. After much research, I decided to try this lens. It was amazing!I won't be able to list all the benefits of this lens, but it has certainly turned my camera into a great piece of gear. I highly recommend it!

Even at the list price (and I bought it on sale) this is an outstandingly good lens. Even wide open it produces very sharp photos with very little degradation at the corners, and even one stop down is becomes completely sharp across the field. (This is visually, at anything up 300% magnification; I'm sure an optical bench would find some faults, but we mostly take photos to look at, don't we?)The lens is surprising light, but doesn't feel plasticy and the mount is metal. The focusing ring is smooth in action, and has just the right feel. The internal focusing is almost noiseless, as is the diaphragm. Two minor quibbles. 1) I'd happily pay a dollar o r two more for a lens bag. 2) The so-called decorative ring that serves only as a covering for the lens hood ... The lens hood, once attached is decorative enough either in reversed position or in functioning position. And the lens is small enough that even with the hood mounted in functioning position, it still takes up very little room in a bag.

One of my favourite lens's. Easy to use, relatively well made. Really good if you are looking for the "boke" effect in both video and photo's. Using it with My Lumix G7 for a vlog I do. Haven't needed another lens for this since. And in comparison to some of the other Lenses on the market this one is great for the price range. Almost the cheapest Lens you can get for my camera. Win win! Highly recommend to anyone. Cons I would say are because it has a fixed focal range you can't zoom in and out using the lens, (You might have a digital zoom you can use though). This can be tricky if you have a limited space to shoot your shot, as if you are too close to the camera you are likely to not fit within the frame and again if you are to far away you have to physically move ... This might get in the way of other camera angels OR be completely inconvenient to everything and everyone around it. Not really a problem if its your only shooting from one angle at a time OR space isn't an issue. I was able to make it work in a room 3mx3m even with the additionally Lighting, backdrop, Sound gear, a desk to sit at. If your sitting on the wall, give this a shot. Best purchase I've made in a while.
I shoot 50mm prime a lot in my work and recently bought a Lumix G9 as my go to knock around camera for when I'm out riding. Paired it with this guy on the cheap to get a feel for camera capability especially in low light. I stacked it against my feels like meter relative to my Nikon Z5 + 50mm prime power duo. Honestly the low light and clarity is fantastic especially for the price point. I love that the depth of field is so forgiving. It makes getting bokeh while doing run and gun very easy if you push composition but not overbearingly so. Back off and getting isolation without the background totally falling apart is straight forward. It's sharp, fast, and cheap enough you can take it anywhere you wanna go and feel relatively safe. I'd recommend it most for street ... MoreI shoot 50mm prime a lot in my work and recently bought a Lumix G9 as my go to knock around camera for when I'm out riding. This has been my go to product photography lens since purchase. The wide aperture gives you great background separation, autofocus works well with a Panasonic camera, and manual focus is a fine experience as well. At 25mm, it gives you the "nifty fifty" look of full frame. Highly recommend, especially on sale or open-box. Pictures shown were taken with the lens.
tl;dr - good price for low f-stop but photo sharpness is spottyBeen using the lens to take flower pics - though I expect a prime lens (fixed focal length) to shoot better than a zoom but it's not working out that way. Pic #1 was shot with the 25mm lens - the center has more detail but the some petals are blurred. Pic #2 is taken with the zoom that came with the camera - the whole flower is sharp but not as close detail. So, a good lens to get as an open-box discount
I'm fairly new to photography and I've been getting to know my camera pretty well. I was frustrated because I just wasn't getting sharp and clear photos. This lens is a game changer! It gives amazing lighting in dark / indoor conditions, the focus is so good, and the bokeh is also great! Far from disappointed with this purchase. I'm happy it didn't break the bank too
The Panasonic LUMIX G 25mm f/1.7 is a must-have for any photographer looking to upgrade their gear. The lens is compatible with mirrorless micro four thirds cameras, making it a tiny versatile option for a wide range of cameras. The f/1.7 aperture provides stunning bokeh and low-light capabilities, making it a great option for capturing beautiful images even in challenging lighting conditions. The compact design and stylish black finish make it easy to carry and a great addition to any photography kit. I highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a high-performing and reliable lens for their mirrorless micro four thirds camera.
Nice little lens. Its plastic construction, but feels very sturdy. The lens hood performs well and mounts backwards when in your camera bag. The aperture and IQ are what you would expect from a decently priced prime lens, that is to say very fast and very sharp. Overall very satisfied. This lens and the Panny 14mm f/2.5 are a great combination.
