Panasonic Lumix S Pro 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens L Mount
The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 (S-E2470) is a large-aperture standard zoom lens that boasts high descriptive performance across the entire zoom range. The optical performance of this LUMIX S PRO lens is remarkably high to clear stringent LEICA standards. Ensuring versatile use for landscapes, snaps and portraits with its 24-70mm focal length, the LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 features stunningly high resolution and high contrast at each focal length point. The full-range F2.8 high-speed aperture provides smooth defocus gradation from the focus peak to the neighboring area of the image to achieve a beautiful bokeh effect as well as a rich perspective. Comprising 18 lenses in 16 groups, the use of 3 aspherical lenses and 4 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses effectively suppresses both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Astigmatism is also corrected with these aspherical lenses, achieving high resolving performance. Furthermore, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to edges of the image while contributing to downsizing of the lens unit. A double focus system combining a linear motor and a stepping motor achieves sensor drive at a maximum speed of 480 fps. This realizes fast, high-precision AF to ensure that a photo opportunity is never missed. Adoption of a focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and accurate manual focusing. The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem in all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. The rugged dust/splash-resistant design withstands use under harsh conditions even at 10 degrees below zero for high mobility. The filter diameter is 82 mm, with an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm.

Rented for a few weeks and used with my S5. The lens is big and heavy, but the quality is top-notch. The sharpness is amazing, autofocus is very quick, and the stabilization works incredibly well. The build quality is great, the lens feels solid and the tripod foot results in really good balance when attached to the S5. The only real drawback is the large size and weight, but that's to be expected for this high quality of a 70-200 f2.8 lens.

This is an awesome lens. The 70-200mm F2.8 class has been my dream lens for many years. I held off on getting the Canon or Sony versions as I've shot with both systems, and now that I'm shooting with the Panasonic S1, I'm glad I waited. I ordered it just in time to shoot with it on location with a winter sports manufacture in cold, wet/snowy weather and it performed like a champ. I shot with a tripod and would NOT recommend shooting handheld (this should be obvious for a long lens but it might be tempting when you consider the double IS), however, the bigger challenge is the weight. It's HEAVY and if you plan to shoot for hours on end without a tripod, good luck to you! I've no complaints about the picture. The image quality is everything I hoped it would be. And of ... Beautiful lens and terrific, reliable service on the Lensrental end.Only thing is that I found the lens to be so much bigger and heavier than I had imagined.Guess I should have read a bit more about it.

This lens is first class! I love the way manual focusing can be engaged so easily while framing the shot. I just got a Lumix S5 and this lens works so well with the camera. When engaging manual focus, the viewfinder enlarges the focus area beautifully to ensure perfect manual focus.
I am familiar with using 24-70mm f2.8 zooms which I've used on my EOS R... Yet I typically prefer primes. However, the LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm f2.8 on my LUMIX DC-S1 has changed my mind about about zoom lenses. This lens is the perfect zoom lens. Beautiful image quality, sharpness, chromatic aberrations, distortion, build quality, rendering, bokeh, it's truly an amazing top of it's class 24-70 f2.8 zoom lens.I have no complaints. This lens is worth the price. Buy it and be done with it. This is the 1 lens that will be glued on my camera for 99% of the time.P.S. I also like how the lens doesn't extend outward until around 30mm and even at 70mm it doesn't stick out too far. Great design.
Provides all the traditional telephoto portrait focal lengths in one package with a relatively large aperture. Heavy, but not really a hassle to handle once you get used to it. You'll likely need a new camera bag to fit it, though... Closest focusing distance is about one meter, which is kind of disappointing, but that means you always keep some distance from subjects, even when doing close-ups.
Just a few short notes: I shot mainly with Sinar P 8x10s w/Schneider HM lens (blue ring) hand picked....Hassy and Rollie were my mids....Now shoot Leica Q for Art and new Lumix S1R w/Lumix 50mm F1.4....bought this lens because studied a bit of optical design years ago and thought by now they could actually make a zoom fulfill most of requirements a true professional would desire artistically and technically. Try this and shoot wide open at a decent shutter , maybe 1/2000 to be sure of 100% sharpness, on a rich complex subject with lots of challenges and good clear lighting and be prepared to be amazed. I view images RAW on Capture 1 Pro using latest 32gb Ram 4K touch screen Dell 15.6 XPS.....dead on in every respect. Love lens color, contrast, build, handle, image ... Used on a Panasonic S1h. With the exception of not having any image stabilization built-in, it's everything I could've wanted. Sharp, bright, fast, and with none of the chromatic aberration of the Canon lens I was using before. A bit pricey, but good glass usually is. Pretty happy with my purchase.
Optically, this is absolutely as good any 24-70 can be. Its excellent. The zoom ring feels great. The focus ring with clutch also feels perfect. One of the most important things is that the 24-70 lens does NOT stair-step its aperture the way the Sigma version does. If you are running in auto aperture, this aperture will SMOOTHLY open and close just like a true camcorder lens does. I had the Sigma 24-70 native L Mount but was forced to return that do to its aperture design flaw. ( I talked to Sigma and they confirmed this problem) This made me spend the extra money to upgrade to this Lumix lens. I'm VERY happy with this Lumux 24-70 lens...but yes, it is extremely expensive compared to the Sigma version.
The images this lens produces lives up to the billing. The one thing I would add is to pay attention to the reviews that mention the size and weight of this lens. I read those and thought it would be a little bigger and heavier than other lenses in my backpack. But, seriously, if you haven't held this thing in you hands, you have no idea. It's a complete beast. I am thinking twice before deploying it - that's how massive this thing is. It could double as a boat anchor. And it's weather-sealed, so if you have a boat, I guess you're good to go. ;-)
