Activating the voice command on the phone was easy and likewise with executing various controls. It's a simple touch control for volume, starting/stopping music, activating noise cancellation, answering calls or skipping music track. However, the sensors are quite sensitive. An accidental bump when swiping your hair can turn the music off. Audio Quality For the purpose of calls, videoconferencing or participating in a meeting, the audio is crisp and the voice from the speaker does not sound hollow. When it comes to music, the RZ-S500W does the job for the purpose of its design. The music can initially sound restrained. Fortunately, the Panasonic audio connect app allows user to adjust the equalizer to optimise the sound quality to your preference. Suddenly, Dolorean Dynamite by Todd Terje lifts with its bass line beats and crisp mid range. The noise cancellation was effective which is also helped with a snug fit. Traffic noise suddenly reduces to a hum and the lawnmower is no longer a deafening whir. On that note, I don't recommend cycling with it. All in all, the RZ-S500W will give other products in the class a run for their money.

It'd be great to have the option of turning this off. Overall, I'd highly recommend these for commuting or travel, when you'll be sitting or standing in one spot for a long time and want something small with amazing sound quality and noise cancellation. They certainly have the best sound quality of any earbuds I've ever used and I'm eager to try them on a plane or train as a way more portable QC35 alternative!

The battery life is really really good, I haven't charged it for 5 days and the case still has charge. It really depends how much you use it. Though I do have one big complaint, it's how hard it is to switch between devices, especially Apple ones. Once the phone recognises the earbuds as a device, the only way to switch from phone to iPad for example is to 'forget the device' on the first phone and try to connect on the iPad. Overall I think it's a very good first time pair of Bluetooth earbuds that is functional, lasts long and is very accomodating with the app feature.

Sturdily packaged, they were easy and intuitive to use right out the box. It comes with several different sized earbuds, which is great especially since normal earphones are a little too large for my ears. The charging cradle and earphones are well built and good quality, definitely very pretty to use. A quick read of the instructions guide allowed easy and seamless connection with my Android smartphone. Sound quality is superb, and noise cancelling is amazing! Be sure to swap to 'ambient sound' or 'off' mode if using outdoors for safety though. The earbuds only turn off when they are replaced in the cradle, so leaving it laying on my table drained them pretty quick. However I do think this is a beneficial function, as it forces you to replace the buds back in the cradle after use, and prevents you from losing one. There is a very slight lag time when watching videos, but this is to be expected as with every other wireless earphone I have used. The earphones also are SLIGHTLY on the bigger side, but this is to accomodate the mics for the noise cancelling function and does not bother me in the slightest. Overall, love the build, fit and sound quality, would definitely repurchase in the future.

High was bit tamed especially when listening to more of a instrumental jazzy tracks such as Pat Metheny. But overall great sound quality better than Bose Soundsport that I have been using. This earbuds aren't ideal for anyone who wants to wear them for their runs. Not sure if it's just me but they kept on falling off my ears but no compains for me as I'd rather a cheaper lighter buds in case they fall off. This however is perfect for every day commuters who wants to get on that train and shut out from rest of the world and listen to music of podcasts without having to carry a bulky headphone that messes your morming meeting ready hair without compromising sound quality too much. For these reasons + decent price point I'm giving it a 4 and a half stars
Was looking for some affordable wireless earbuds that have decent noise cancellation and the Panasonic RZ-S500 seem to tick all the right boxes plus were cheaper than the Airpod Pro and Sony 1000XM3. After spending some time listening to these, they have a nice balanced sound, there was strong bass, the mids and highs were clear with a wide soundstage giving a very pleasant timbre. There was no noticeable difference in the sound when switching between active noise cancellation (ANC) ambient mode or off so that was a bonus. The ANC was very good and completely blocked out low frequency noise. High frequency or voices wasn't completely silent but they were muted well. The earbuds are nicely supplemented with the Panasonic Audio Connect app available for both Android and Apple devices where additional features are available such as an earbud locator which displays a map of it's last location when it was used plus a find my earbuds option that emits a beeping sound to help locate them nearby. There's also the option to update the firmware which in my case was one step forward and two steps back unfortunately. The latest firmware version 1.80 provided the option to turn off the LEDs on the earbuds within the app so this was a welcome feature. However, the update also changed the ambient mode so voices now are muffled and surrounding noise is no longer amplified. Playing music appears to be affected too where the mids are no longer as clear as before the update. I really hope they can fix this in a later firmware so unfortunately, would only recommend these as long as you don't install the firmware update.

In fact, the noise cancelling was so good that I couldn't even hear myself typing whilst listening to music. The ambient sound function was very impressive as the earbuds' microphone amplified the surrounding sounds. Everything from the crunch of my footsteps, to the dialogue of a nearby conversation was crystal clear. With the OFF mode, I would have preferred the background noise to have been clearer as the sound was still fairly muffled. The touch sensor was fairly sensitive which made pausing and playing seamless. Additionally, it ensured switching between modes (OFF, noise cancelling, ambient sound) was easily accessible. Unfortunately, these earbuds failed to be water proof as listening to music with damp shower hair resulted in a disconnection of the Bluetooth. The battery life of the earbuds was considerably long, however the earbuds quickly drained their battery overnight when the case wasn't charged. I would have liked it if the earbuds and case could turn off to conserve battery. Overall, these earbuds are great for situations that require noise cancelling but are not suitable to use when exercising. The earbuds themselves may have not been the most comfortable but sure delivered top-notch noise that was music to my ears.

However, looking at the RRP of these earbuds compared to many others as part of my search for a replacement, this price point is definitely very attractive and having firsthand experience of the quality of the product I am very inclined to purchase them myself (this time I'd go for the white one!). The below provides some further details on my experience based on my usage. COMFORT - very comfortable as long as you're used to 'insert style' earbuds. Many size ear inserts provided to cater for ear canal sizes. Snug fit assists with noise cancelling functionality. EASE OF USE - Simple to use and no different to normal bluetooth setups. Touch controls do take some getting used to though (for example, 1 long press versus 2 short press what does that do). Panasonic app is a nice feature but not critical Access to Siri/Google/Alexa provided also DESIGN - generic design which is great to blend in but boring if you're looking for something flashy to stand out from the crowd SOUND QUALITY - Great no issues for music or calls. Very clear BUILD QUALITY - solid build - doesn't feel like its made on the cheap by cutting corners BATTERY LIFE - strong battery life, Panasonic claims on usage seem reasonable

The Bose SS can be quite clunky as they sit very proud of the ear and during exercise have a side effect of torquing out of the ear in vigorous exercise thanks to their weight (9g each earbud) and distance out from the ear (high profile). In comparison the Panasonic's compact design offers a lower profile and lower weight (7g) which directly minimises the torquing effect. As a daily commuter and office worker in a noisy environment, I was keen to see how the ANC would perform. Outcome: I can not fault the performance one bit! In fact at times I had to lower the ANC levels (within the Panasonic app) in the office to allow some ambient sound in as people trying to get my attention was halted by the ANC. The adjustable ANC levels are a fantastic feature and the noise isolation without ANC is good to boot. The only times the ANC performed poorly was during the walk to work in windy conditions and the ANC would echo the wind noise - easy solved by turning off ANC. Which does bring me to the one detractor of the Panasonic unit: Touch Control. I got the hang of Touch Control fairly quickly, it's a very intuitive system, however the sensitivity of the controls was the issue. It meant that when I would adjust the earbud in my ear I would accidentally engage the Touch Control and pause or skip the music I was listening to. This would happen frequently doing workouts and I wish there was an option to lower the sensitivity or perhaps turn off touch control altogether. However, I think this is a teething issue, for me the user, and I would get used to over time.

I found I generally didn't hear any traffic walking past a busy highway, nor would I hear the clatter of travelling by train. I suspect they would block out the background noise of air travel, though I didn't take any plane trips prior to writing this review. While the size of the case is bigger than some, the earbuds themselves are nice and compact. Aside from getting the fit right (which took some getting used to), they do actually sit quite well in the ear, and they don't stick out - looking at you Sony! The touch settings can be a little sensitive at times, though over time I found I was able to work around this. I think these are terrific value - in particular if the noise cancelling is important to you.
