I love my spinosaurus... although I'd love a more "realistic" interpretation of Mr Spiny (standing on all-fours etc), I got nostalgic about this one because of its likeness to the JP3 Spiny...Sadly, I cannot give it 5 stars, because although it was a stunning piece, the feet keep warping (and as such, It will not stand on its 2 feet and keeps flopping forward onto its hands, despite many attempts to correct this). I have to keep it in the plastic base to stop it from warping too much.

Let me start off by saying the Spinosaurus is not one of my favorite dinosaur species. I did not care much for it in the 3rd Jurassic Park movie and honestly it has never inspired me as a particularly great predator. However, the Papo Spinosaur is truly magnificent. It is a huge piece at 12 1/4" long by 6 3/8" in height. It will be a dominating force in your Papo collection and will certainly be a standout. The sculpt on the Spinosaurus is amazing. The scaling detail on the back and the face is simply outstanding. They used a crocodilian scaling on the neck and back which is just as one would imagine for this dinosaur. The sculpt on the front claws and the hind claws is excellent. The pose is not overly dramatic but reflects well how the Spinosaurus actually might have carried itself while striding. Probably the standout feature in my mind on the Spinosaur is the excellent paint job. They used a series of brown and beige tones with darker marking toward the top. They did outstanding weathering effects on the hind claws and the nails are really well done. However one of the gems of this paint scheme is a very, very pale red, yellow and blue striping on the sail of the Spinosaurus' back. You really have to look closely at the piece to see it. They did such a great job with it, that it looks completely natural and totally appropriate. Lastly, the dark washes that they used on the figure really bring out the detail of the skin folds and scaling. You really need to take a look at this figure. It is one of Papo's best dinosaur pieces.

A reasonable priced model, with lots of realism and great details. The moving mouth was a nice feature. The paint job on the model was reasonably good for a mass produced item, and to my eye the colour palette chosen looked how I imagined a dinosaur would look. Over all I was happy with this product.

The model is beautifully sculpted, the colours are unique and it is an epic pose. The details on this model are fantastic from the individual scales, to the sail and eel-like tail, down to the inner work in the mouth! Its is great to have a realistic and scientifically accurate model of Spinosaurus by Papo. My favourite dinosaurs are the Spinosaurus, and this model is the perfect representation of the species.
It has been noted that the paintwork on this figure does not precisely resemble the promotional images, however it is still a highly complicated, multi-layered and subtle colour scheme that does not detract from this awesome figure. This is a very large, very solid and impressive figure with abundant subtle detail which makes it look really lifelike. It's posed as though it's slowly pushing itself along a riverbed with its hind legs. It looks great from a distance and stands out in a collection, and is a lovely figure to hold and examine in the hand. Definitely one of Papo's best!
