The overall length of the shorts are great, I got the 6”. However these couldn’t be more unflattering with how low-rise these are. Low-rise is legit never a good idea when you’re doing any type of physical activity. Really wanted to love these. Can’t even exchange them for other shorts because the Baggies are legit always sold out. I sadly had to return these and buy from another brand that sells a similar high-rise version. If these were made high-rise the shorts would be unstoppable.

I like that these shorts "flow" and aren't too tight. I ordered the 6 inch inseam and like the extra coverage. I am not familiar with running shorts with liners (it's really just an inner brief)-- are you suppose to wear undergarments with it as well? If so, the liner/inner brief seems redundant. I tend to wear bottoms multiple times before washing so if I am not supposed to wear undergarments, it seems a little "icky". Also, if I am not supposed to wear undergarments, are these shorts ineligible for Worn Wear? Besides the awkward liner, I like the shorts and will wear them often (with undergarments).

No issues with sizing. GF now has 3 pair. Consistent sizing in comparison with other Patagonia products. XS is nowhere near a medium, it’s a true XS. Waist 26, hip 36. XS is a little tight in the crotch, so she prefers Small.I have the mens, and love them too. Definitely 10x better than their baggies

These are my go-to athletic shorts now. I usually wear Lulu to work out and walk in, but being over 30 now, I'd like a little more coverage and these fit the bill! Super Lightweight, not too short, and flowy to keep you cool, they are just perfect for the hot summers here. The 6 in length is great for me so I can go for a walk in a forest preserve and then go run an errand without feeling awkward b/c my shorts are too short. Im between a L and XL, (14), usually and as with most running shorts, I went with the XL and they were perfect fit. Did I mention they are super light?! So they are always part of my hiking/backpacking regime. I couldn't go without them. Thanks patagonia!!!
I was very excited for these shorts. I had read in other reviews that some thought the liner was too tight and they were a bit too low rise, but I took a chance. After wearing them on a few walks, I have to agree with those other reviews. The shorts have a liner that is a bit too tight (I would expect them to be a bit looser with them being loose shorts) and they are very low rise. I tend only to wear them when I walk because I don't love the feeling of the waistband going into my lower abdomen when I sit down. If they were higher rise this would not be a problem (like other shorts). They do have a nice little pocket on the back that can fit a license and/or key. A good improvement would be a side pocket. The fabric is nice, however, they do ride up my inner thighs ... MoreI was very excited for these shorts. I very much debated whether to return them, but they are still worth keeping.
Love these. Im normally a M in bottoms because of a big booty on a small frame but I have two pairs of these in S that fit well, the M would have been to big in the waist band. I cut out the liner inside. The length is perfect, really cute, but I never feel exposed no matter what Im doing. I have in black and greenthe green color is so pretty. Theyre very lightweight material and the pull string top is keytheyre definitely cut for a more straight up and down body so the waist band is a little big on me and puffs out a little bit in a weird way when I tie them down but I dont really mind, its not that obvious, and I love the length so much I can turn a blind eye to the rest!
I was looking for shorts with a longer inseam to help with chafing and provide coverage. In length, these are a dream. 6 inches covers a lot without feeling dowdy. However, there are some things that don't work. The back pocket sits lower than most running shorts, maybe due to the wide waistband. Whatever you put in that back pocket is going to feel really weird bumping against your rear end, because that item is going to hang so low. I tried a pill fob on one run and a Subaru key on another and the back pocket simply doesn't function like it should. The other issue: the waist is loose and needs to be cinched up with the drawstring. I am most definitely a medium during quarantine (and slowly ballooning), yet these felt so loose in the waist that I had to cinch up ... I would also like to see one small side pocket to hold a GU or key.
This is a super short for hiking/running. At 50+yo - I admittedly welcome the longer inseam - and it's not too long at all. No chafe, no bunching. The liner is the right size for the shorts, and plenty of room to wear undies if you prefer to double up. The pocket at the waist does not get in the way of backpack belts not does the wide/smooth elastic waist band. Material is fantastic - proven quick dry after a river crossing gone awry!
I bought 2 pairs of these shorts for my daily 4 mile walks and I was not expecting them to have a liner since I didnt see it listed in the specs or the pictures on the website. I decided to give them a try anyways and have to say that I prefer shorts without liners. These run a bit small and I find I have to keep them pretty low on my hips to keep the liners and shorts from riding up. Otherwise, the material on the shorts is airy and moves nicely. I hand wash them and line dry them after each use and found them to dry quickly. Just wish the website more accurately depicted them.
I got the 6" inseam and will buy multiple others! I'm loving them--The longer inseam is nice to help with the chub rub for the long hikes/walks yet still looks very flattering. I would say these run true to size for a typical "running" short (which, for me at least, that means the run slightly small). I don't use them for running (b/c I don't run), but I love them for a ultra-light weight hiking short!
