Purchased this Patagonia Down with it parka in the beauty plum, such a lovely dark purple!! Very warm and has a nice A line shape. It fits true to size if you like a slimmer more A line shape to your parka. If you want more room for heavier gear size up. I think it is plenty warm enough without the bulk by the way to wear with just a tee or light knit. I love the length to wear for work or outdoors and hits right at the knees, I'm 5'5 145 and small fit great!! I have smaller torso, shoulders and have a wider hip but the slight A line shape accommodates this. Nice removable hood if not needed. Double zip for driving and walking comfortably. Even with zipped up it is still not restricted and can sit down comfortably. Overall 5 Stars would buy again

This jacket does not live up to the price and name. It looks warm but it is not as warm as it should be for the thickness/bulkiness of it. I have lighter Patagonia rain or short fleece-lined parkas warmer than this, which appears as if it should be a snow coat. Simple but effective features are missing like a pull cord to tighten and secure the hood in the wind or elastic around the sleeve cuffs. The most shocking and disappointing thing: the zipper is poor quality tracking or faulty, so that 2/5 times I am trying to zip up, it catches and won't budge. I am not pulling roughly and I have not worn this jacket so much that it should be having issues already. Definitely skip and research a better winter coat for this price.

I've had a Patagonia down parka for about 6 years and have absolutely loved it-especially the slim fit, knee length and the warmth. The only thing that was missing for me was snap closures over the zipper. So now that it is time to replace it I chose this Down With It parka as it was almost exactly the same as my old one with the added feature of those snaps over the zipper closure which brought my old parka from 'just about perfect' to perfect. I am 5'4" 119# and the medium is a perfect fit for me so that I can wear a winter sweater under it.How disappointed I am in the current production. The quality of the outer shell is inferior to the old parka- now a shiny polyester. The stitched baffles are much larger now and the down filling is thinner. I suppose , if you've not had a Patagonia parka before, you might find this of good quality, but if you have had an older version you will be disappointed in how they have cut back on the quality.I had ordered it online from REI, as it was the only place that had the size and color I wanted. I returned it yesterday, to the local store, for a full refund and will shop for a new down parka next Fall. And most likely not Patagonia- unless they put back what was so good about this parka to begin with ("if it's not broke, don't fix it"). The quality is just not the same. The store clerk concurred and said they've had a few returns for the same reasons- Patagonia quality has diminished. So sad.

I am an always-cold person who lives in upstate New York, where the temperatures frequently drop below zero every winter. I have been looking for my ideal winter coat for years, but could never find one that had all of the features that I wanted (stylish, super warm, at least knee length, hooded, and with zip pockets). I am so happy that I found this parka because it is everything that I wanted and more. I have worn it outside in temperatures as low as 0 degrees F, and it has kept me cozy and warmyet, I dont overheat when I wear it inside. The double-sided zipper and side snaps help me to move and sit comfortably if I need them, but most of the time I am able to sit down comfortably without unzipping or unsnapping anything.I wear a size small in almost everything, and I bought this coat in a small. I think that its the perfect fit. With most of my clothes, I still have plenty of room inside. Its a little tighter when I layer with thick sweaters, but not unbearable. Im glad I didnt size up.One of the main reasons that I bought this coat was the reclaimed down and recycled polyester shell. I have always bought synthetic outerwear due to concerns about the welfare of the ducks and geese, and I love that this isnt a concern with this coat. There are also so many features about this that I think are greatthe adjustable/removable hood, the roomy zippered pockets that really do keep my hands warm, and how I can zip the coat up over most of my face if its really cold and windy.I cant say enough good things about this coat!
I own, 1 Patagonia "down with it", I own one colubia long coat, and multiple coats in-between. This Patagonia is by far my favorite and warmest coat I have ever purchased. I always think prices on Patagonia are steep but this coat was more than worth it. It's extremely warm, I live in Minnesota and on the winter it gets to ne negative numbers here and I were this coat most of the winter. My columbia isn't warm at all I use it on thr warmer days where I don't need as much extra insulation. This coat is durable, I've never had a problem with it tearing or getting marked up in the 3 years I've owned it. I have a bronze one I bought 3 years ago and I just purchased another. The only thing I dislike is the bottom buttons. Mine have broke within the first month on the end ... MoreI own, 1 Patagonia "down with it", I own one colubia long coat, and multiple coats in-between. I've been wanting a new parka to replace my old one which happened to be Calvin Klein but extremely warm but is now dated. I have a couple Patagonia pullovers and absolutely love them because they are so warm. I decided to go with the down with it parka and Navy Blue is my favorite color so thats what I chose. The coat is beautiful in Navy!! I went back and forth deciding on a size. It was between Sm and Med. I am 5 ft 6in and 134 lbs with an athletic build. I ordered Medium after reading hundreds of reviews and I believe it was the right choice. I usually wear layers underneath and I think the small would have been too tight across the shoulders with a sweatshirt or sweater underneath. I usually have buyers remorse as soon as hit the place order button when I buy ... MoreI've been wanting a new parka to replace my old one which happened to be Calvin Klein but extremely warm but is now dated. I normally love Patagonia products, so I bought this jacket without hesitation. It has finally turned cold enough to wear it, and it is not warm. I understand why many of their other products don't necessarily contain the heat because people are doing active things, so those garments need to breathe. But this is a long parka. People aren't rock climbing or running in this garment. We are standing at bus stops in the cold, we are doing errands, we are walking dogs, and this jacket just simply isn't trapping heat to keep me warm. It isn't even that cold yet (only -10 C today) and yet I still feel chilled when wearing it. I bought this parka to wear all winter, not just late fall/early winter. To me the lack of performance is incredibly disappointing, given this company's technological strides and it's especially frustrating given the price point. I also indicated that it fits small only because I always have to go up a size in Patagonia compared to all other brands. If Patagonia XL normally fits you, this will fit just fine.
I bought this coat based on a recommendation from my sister-in-law. I was shocked by how warm, cozy and flattering it was! It truly combines all my wishes for a warm, nice fitting, ethically made and affordable coat. I had to part with my 7-year-old Tres Parka after outgrowing it, and haven't been able to find a substitute that fits me well (I fall between a Patagonia S and M) until now. I have gotten so much use out of this coat in the recent weeks and can also say that it provides decent protection from wind and the collar buttons up for ultimate warmth. If I could make one suggestion for improvement, it would be to make the hip pockets slightly larger. Other than that it is true perfection. For reference I have larger shoulders/smaller waist/wider hips, 64 inches ... MoreI bought this coat based on a recommendation from my sister-in-law. I bought this Patagonia slim fit parka to replace my current Patagonia one, purchased several years ago. I ordered both the old and now the new versions in medium and it fits perfectly, to accommodate a winter sweater underneath, on my slender 5'4" 119 lb. I've loved my older version- stylish, slim fit, knee length, nice and warm- and the only thing I had kept wishing for was that it have snap closures over the zipper. And sure enough, the new version has those, which was making it perfect. So I enthusiastically ordered it.How disappointing to find it was not made to the quality I had come to expect from Patagonia. The baffles are now larger, the down filling is thinner and the new parka is not nearly as warm as my old one. We have winter temps occasionally as low as 0º to 20s and my older version has worked extremely well to keep me warm and comfy on those nights. This new version does not offer 'bone-chilling protection'- I felt the cold seeping through on a 40ishº day. Why Patagonia made certain changes they did (baffles, thinner down fill, fabric) is unfortunate. As the saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The outer shell is now a lower quality poly fabric, as well. I've retuned the new parka for a refund and will keep shopping.
I purchased this almost weightless down parka in black and really love it. I live in a tropical climate and get cold very easily. It kept me warm and comfortable in the snow and in temps ranging from 5-35 degrees with colder wind chill factor. It easily folds into a small size easy for packing. The longer length was just what I wanted and falls above my knees to cover a suit jacket or dress. I love the inside chest pocket and side pockets with zippers. I am really happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight comfortable super warm coat that travels well. Its now a great staple in my closet.
