Holds up to very active 5 yo boy life. I was worried about pilling or patches at the elbows becoming threadbare, but so far so good. Whenever I wash it, it still looks pretty good. And doesn't attract lint, which some fleece materials do. If it came with a hoodie version, it would be pretty perfect for kids who resist wearing hats.

We love Patagonia. I have a number of these in the adult version and love them. The kids version is just as good! It’s a bit big on our 8 year old - he’s toward the end of size 8 and into size 10, this fits like a kid’s 10-12.

I love all Patagonia products, but their sizing issues persist, especially for kids. My 6 year-old son is very tall for his age, but he absolutely swims in a Boy's XS. (here, the Better Sweater, but for all products) Since he's too tall for a Toddler 5T, that leaves him with skipping the brand this year for outerwear until he gets bigger. I'm not even sure at age 7 if he'll be tall enough for XS. Patagonia, please add a size 6T or XXS to your product line. You have about a two year gap in size between 5T and XS currently.

I bought these every year for my family. This year when I ordered my sons I noticed the zipper itself was metal but the teeth were all plastic. Also, it was not the cleaned sewn in look on the chest. It was more sloppy looking and had a gap when it was sewn inside before. For this kind of money its not worth it. I loved the quality of the zippers and attention to details Patagonia always had. Retuned and looking at other options now.
Ordered the Better Sweater vest a few years ago and really liked how comfortable and versatile it was for our little guy. This jacket is basically the same thing just with arms. Nice and soft like fleece without the pilling and early failure of fleece in high wear areas. Would be nice to have a wool/brass option instead of plastic/plastic. Also, about the use of dyes... why even dye fabrics if it's so harmful? My kid doesn't need harmful colorants in his clothes. A natural, undyed, option like those commonly offered with brands in Norway would be much appreciated. We ordered the Stonewash version as it looked the most natural. Matches everything else we have in the closet and always looks great. ~No fights in the morning when getting ready for school.
Bought kids xl and liked it better than woman's version. I am usually woman xs but for this style womans xs is somehow tight around chest and under arms while s is a bit too big. This is just right. And perfect length around body and sleeves. Great quality and price too.
This is a very well made and warm jumper. I bought it for our recent trip to the snow, and it was perfect for the evenings, under a coat - smart enough for a restaurant and warm and comfortable. My kids love wearing them, and I want one for myself now too!
I bought this a month or so ago. I received the quarter zip quickly and the quality was amazing. I would highly recommend as the sizing is also very accurate and the material is very comfortable.
I bought this sweater for my 13 yo son this year because I couldn't find the insulated better sweater hoody I bought for him last year. I know that they are two different products, but I just couldn't help but compare the weight and warmth. This sweater is exactly that - a sweater. Teens now don't want to wear coats, they want to wear hoody all the time, which is why an insulated hoody was a godsend. This sweater could not take the place of a jacket on a cold day. Where is the insulated better sweater hoody for kids?? And why does the hoody not have pull strings?
This jacket is great! My son has already worn it a couple of times and he seems to like it. Fit is good. Color is a darker gray.
