Sometimes shiver-proof protection comes in small packages—like our Nano Puff Vest. It traps your heat with 60-g PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco—now with 100% postconsumer recycled content—wrapped in a windproof and moisture-shedding 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. The vest has a shaped fit and a soft, wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage for chin comfort. Other fine points include a drawcord hem, a pair of zippered handwarmer pockets and an internal chest pocket (with clip-in loop) that doubles as a stuffsack. Fair Trade Certified sewn.

A Surprisingly Warm Mid-Layer

I already own a Nano Puff Jacket and it is my go-to outer layer for alpine touring and resort skiing in the Rockies near Banff where I pair it with a down vest and fleeces. It's remarkably light, sheds the wind well, and is much more breathable than a Gore-tex jacket. I bought this vest as an outer layer for track skiing at Nordic areas. As with its bigger brother it will do a good job of shedding wind while adding an additional layer of insulation. Best of all, it will leave my arms and shoulders unencumbered which is a consideration when poling for hours on end. As for sizing, it fits a bit smaller across the chest than my jacket. One minor concern is the delicate zipper. I would have preferred a more robust zipper of the sort you find on all but the lightest of ... MoreI already own a Nano Puff Jacket and it is my go-to outer layer for alpine touring and resort skiing in the Rockies near Banff where I pair it with a down vest and fleeces. The nano puff vest has become a staple piece of shoulder season running gear for me. All in all, theres little to nothing I would change about it that wouldnt be hyper specific to running. The only general design aspect I believe could be improved upon is how the collar lays in the zipper area. I also frequently wear the down sweater, which is stitched in such a way that the collar wants to flare open as its unzipped. I believe something like this would greatly benefit the overall user experience of the already great nano puff vest, as Ive found the collar wants to collapse in under the chin and into the throat area of the user. That being said, the piece as a whole performs wonderfully, and I look forward to putting many more miles on it.

I am generally a fan of Patagonias designs, and have another of their vests that I like very much. I wanted a puffer vest and bought this one and one from a competitor. The fit was just fine. When I had them side by side, the quality of this vest felt inferior for the same price. It was thinner than I wanted and the material didnt give me confidence that it would stand the test of time and wear. This one went back, but Ill keep coming to Patagonia for other items.

Great piece, normally an L but...
2 February 2023

I love this vest, I have wanted one for quite some time. I got it to layer under shirts and jackets for every day wear, summer hiking and fly fishing in the cooler months. I am normally an L (long) at Patagonia (and other manufacturers), but the waste could probably use another inch to be perfect (for me). It is a little snug but just around the bottom (part of that could be me, but still L is normally my size..). I am going to stick with it, (it reminds me to slim down a little), as an XL would be to big for me. Other than that, it is everything I wanted it to be. Thanks!

High quality, uncomfortable fit
17 March 2023

First, I have a nano puff jacket which I love. The usual Patagonia high quality and great style. It fits perfectly. I bought the nano puff vest to wear as a mid layer for skiing. I have no doubt it would work well for this however it is so tight across the belly, I can not wear it comfortably. I am a 5 foot 9, 165 lbs guy, I have a standard, relatively athletic dad body. Not sure why the jacket fits but not the best.

Is There Even Any Insulation Here?
19 April 2023

I have been wearing Patagonia products for >30 years, and have spent thousands of dollars on Patagonia apparel, from socks and caps to parka 'systems'.I have loved my Patagonia down vest for going-on 10 years, but unfortunately it's nearing replacement time.I got greedy and cheaped out on a Web Special version of this Nano Puff (?) vest. My disappointment is immense. It's like wearing a scrap of nylon.Remember kids: You get what you pay for. Cheap becomes expensive.

It's a classic
18 November 2022

Patagonia's Nano Puff series are pretty ubiquitous in the PNW for a reason. It's a dependable piece of gear for both hitting the trails and wearing in casual settings. I actually wear mine so much I decided I needed a second color to switch it up once in awhile. Lots of warmth for the weight and conveniently stuffs into the pocket when you need to pack it in your bag. Great for layering under a shell, too. I've put some serious miles on my Nano Puffs and they're holding up great. For sizing, I can be a M or L depending on the jacket/shirt but for Nano Puffs I have always gone with a M.

Long term review
29 October 2021

I left a review for this vest about 6 months ago but wanted to update it now that Ive had the vest for about a year. I use this vest for a wide variety of activities. In the summer, I use it during back packing trips, days hikes, and at night around a fire. In the fall/spring, I use it mountain biking, running, and around camp to ward off the chill. In the winter, I use it as a layering piece and while reading a book by the fire place. Its built like a Patagonia piece and is my go to for almost anything. With that being said, I did manage to snap the cord that adjusts the hem. I tied it back together and the vest is still 100% operational so its not a big deal, but was surprising. It got caught on a lose nail or something when I was moving my ski gear out of the ... MoreI left a review for this vest about 6 months ago but wanted to update it now that Ive had the vest for about a year. It got caught on a lose nail or something when I was moving my ski gear out of the garage. One other thing to note, its warm but not super warm. In the fall (and winter of course) Id recommend bringing a down or full synthetic jacket for when youre not moving around. Its at its best when your moving or when its above around 55-60 degrees.

Love the Nano Air
27 February 2023

Bought my husband a Nano Air Jacket about 15 years ago. He still wears it regularly, he loves it! Went back for this vest, and we were so happy to find it. He prefers the Nano Air without all of the vertical stitching and the shiny finish. This one was not perfect, but worked out for him. I also bought him 3 new Nano Air jackets, 2 black and one green so he has some variety! I wear the Nano Air jacket and vest as well, and I love them. I wish that the jackets were LONGER for women, I sized up for length. The warmth of the patagonia jackets without all the bulk is our favorite feature!

super light weight alternate universe futuristic technology

I recently moved to the north from a tropical climate. My girlfriend said I desperately needed a warm vest. I was clueless about winter garb but I knew about Patagonia. I originally ordered a medium because all reviews said they ran large. I wanted to be able to wear it over a hoodie to ride a gravel bike in really cold weather. I had to return it as it just wasn't big enough to wear over something bulky. The replacement arrived fast and hassle free and Worked as expected. I work as a jazz musician and often have to wear a sui.t I found with this large size I can wear it over a suit jacket for loading/unloading gear. Brilliant! I also just like to wear it just for running errands. It's so extremely light and warm I often feel like it's a product of some kind of ... MoreI recently moved to the north from a tropical climate.
