I wasn't even looking for a hiking pants... But when I picked this up and noticed how light and flexible it was, I had to try it. When I did, I fell in love! I was getting ready for my JMT thru hike and I've already had my pants ready. But after trying this pants on, I quickly replaced my older hiking pants. This is why:Fabric: very light and stretchy. If too cold, I can wear tights underneath. Fit: slim and no extra baggage. No belt design: great for backpackers with waist strap. Minimal drawstring: the cord is very minimal and does not dig into the hips.Because of the no belt design (you can wear one if you want to) and the very thin elastic cord, it is super comfortable when wearing a backpack with a firm waist band. There is a nerve that runs right in front of the hip bone and this often gets crushed and cause pand and numbness on my thigh. Any pants with belt or thicker elastic material along that spot gives me pain and numbness, so this pants solved all that in one swoop! On top of that, it is somewhat water repellent (not rain pants but enough to ward off some wetness in rain). Oh, and on top of that, mosquitos can't go through it! My friends got bit all over the legs through their pants but I didn't get one bite. I thought it was treated! This pants was my backpacker/thru hiker's dream come true (in warmer weather)!

These are by far the best version of these pants yet. the fit is easy and loose but not bulky. As a slim built person, its hard to find slim pants that are built this way, a major win if youre also a slim build. The under seam is cleverly sewn to reduce and eliminates all chaffing (like happens in jeans) and the inner tie string to bring waist tight is superb. Its an all round win, fir comfort and fit. As for duability and wear have already put a pair through 4,000km of motorbiking and they are holding up well, not the easiest to wash, so, possibly consider a darker colour. Highly recommend these!

Light weight, durable, hiking/travel pants! New version of a similar pair that I replaced from years of use. My one and only go to Patagonia walking pants that work well in hot and cold climates. I sized them to work for me with or with out a thermal layer, for all season use!Nice new features- inner draw string, fabric seems more stretchy, and moisture beads off better. The two front hand pockets seem a bit smaller at the opening than my last pair.Exactly what I was looking for in a replacement for my last worn out pair!Light weight, durable, simple got to outside pants! Mighty fine job on this pant Patagonia! Thank you!

I knew from reviews that these are warm weather pants. The fabric is very soft to the touch (despite synthetics and DWR), and they transfer heat exceptionally well so that they'll keep you cool if you're hiking hard or if the weather is quite hot. The DWR works well to deal with a light shower here and there. It's the mobility that impresses me the most! Through stretch and fit, I find these to be superior to many pants that I've owned. I hike forest and mountain paths, and deal with about 500m of vertical ascent often. I don't feel constrained by these pants, and while I'm not a wall climber, I feel confident that these are perfect for all activities shy of that. The included tie allows me to skip belts, which helps with harnesses or hipbelts.100% recommend.
These pants are fantastic. Ridiculously comfortable, fast drying, DWR for light rain. I use these hiking on the Florida Trail and they are my new favorite hiking pant. Full size belt loops (thank you!) accept a 2.75in belt which is much more comfortable keeping you pants in position when hiking over long miles trudging through swampy trails. And made of recycled fishing nets which is really cool. My only gripe is the limited lengths. Please offer in a 34in or longer length. I am 5-11, normally wear 34/34 pants and these 34/32 are just short enough to look silly. Waist size fits true.
I loved the stretchy fabric from the first wearing! I also liked the idea of an inside-the-waistband tie string, but the stretchy tie-string, not so much. The soft, wider, nylon tie string in the Transit Traveler pants feel more secure and I can judge the tightness better than a stretch tie string. Other than that, these pants are great for traveling, hiking, and any other activity where you want full leg coverage. Its got all the pockets of my denim jeans, but feel so comfy with the stretch fabric. The belt loops seemed redundant, but if you need something to hook a tape measure, knife/Leatherman holster, or a key caddy to, you'll be glad they are there. I cannot speak for the toughness of the fabric yet, but they have held up well with a week's worth of daily ... MoreI loved the stretchy fabric from the first wearing! I don't hesitate to do a little heavy lifting or tackling a dirty chore just because I'm wearing new pants, so I've been impressed thus far.
Have you ever touched a weight, in your life?Do you, on occasion, consume protein? Can you spell the word "gym"?If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, these pants are not for you.I tried to love them. I really did. But like most pants on me, the waist is too big and the low hips and thighs are way too tight. And I like tight pants, I do. But these pants have my whole crotch on display. The shoe string they put in the waist band seems like a real after thought. The material is stretchy and comfortable and seems suitable even in warmer weather. That's why I'm rating 2 stars instead of 1.The waist is so loose that I need to wear a belt, but the thighs are so tight that it's awkward walking around, so me sizing up just wouldn't work out. Nobody likes it when the fly is all misshapen from having an overly loose waistband. The measurements of this product are out of wack and are clearly meant for a skinny/slim fit. Why are they not advertised as such? Because they make more money this way, which is really disheartening.5'10190lbSquat 365lbMy waist is 32"My quads are 26"+Ordered size 33, not happy.I guess guys who lift weights don't deserve hiking pants?
I own 2 pairs of Patagonia men's quandry pants. I bough my first in June 2017 at my local Moosejaw in Birmingham, Michigan, 2 weeks before wearing them on a trip to Italy. After 4 years of regular gentle use, the pants have only a few threads pulled out of place now and the pockets are still in good condition. I bought my 2nd pair from patagonia's website after Moosejaw quit selling patagonia products. I like that the pants are almost completely nylon, lightweight, and dry quickly enough when I hand-wash them in the sink in a hotel. A lot of hiking pants contain cotton which dries so slowly. I like that the one extra zippered pocket on the right leg is a pouch that goes on the inside of the leg instead of a tacky-looking piece of fabric sewn onto the outside of the leg like on a lot of hiking pants. I like that the pants lack unnecessary tacky-looking seams. As for the sizing: I am a small man, 5'2-1/2, 113-117 lbs, waist is approximately 30-1/4 to 30-1/2 with the tape measure loosely around my body just below my navel. Maybe I could have squeezed into a 30 but I don't like my clothes fitting too exactly or too tightly so I would rather err on the side of an inch too big instead of an inch too small. Most brands of hiking pants are only made in size 30 or 32. 32 would definitely be too big. I was happy to be able to buy a 31. As for the length, 2 to 3 inches shorter would work better for me, even though the size is labeled as "short". The pants are too big and baggy on me but I also don't want to risk buying pants that are too tight or form-fitting.
The fit is great. The styling with a minimum of pockets, limited to only those which one aAnd the fabric, Nylon like, is excellent; is is very soft to the skin and is not hot at all; it is truly comfortable while totally durable. This is not the hot synthetic material that we all...many of us... wore once, when we were kids. This is synthetic like that breathes like light cotton. I continually reorder another pair in a new color. They are a different world, both in comfort and appearance, from the jeans that I am famous for always wearing. I highly recommend these pants.
Nice cut. Nice fit. Look nice enough for dinner out, but excellent on the trail in spring and fall which was what I got them for.I have a pair of Prana pants to compare. These are lighter, and I favor them for all but one thing: The Pranas have a built in belt-cinch that is super easy and actually works like a belt. These Patagonia pants have a draw string (on the inside) instead which is just not as effective, and requires tying. So now Im looking out for a light nylon belt, to improve this. And until the I use my leather belt (my jeans belt) which works wel but is less than ideal for trails - particularly steep ones where you bend and twist and lean a lot. Still I truly love these pants, and would get them again.
