I own several of these ~ this weight flannel. This material... it's superior, *****. That bit really shows up in a very fine way. It's satisfyingly warm for the weight of fabric. Generous sleeve length ~ this is oh so appreciated. This fall's 'nouveau green' ~ handsome. I'm 5' 11, 150, have a 39" chest and come with a fully standard shoulder build. A size M should fit. Past ones have, no troubles. This particular shirt, it seemed to be cut more trimly in the shoulder area. Despite really appreciating so many aspects of what this one was... I opted to pass and return it. I hold things to a high standard. The fit needs to be fully on it... or I say no. Maybe another of the very same shirt would happen to run every so slightly larger and land the fit of these others I ... MoreI own several of these ~ this weight flannel. I tried this shirt model two years ago and found the sleeves too narrow for my comfort. Saw the new 2024 navy colorway on a mannequin in the Gainesville store, liked it and decided to try out this year's model. Pleasantly surprised that it was a nice natural fit, neither too trim nor too boxy. The weight of the flannel is a nice medium; and it's very obviously a high quality, organic fiber. This particular colorway is very attractive, not quite as "dark" as it appears here on line; making it somewhat more "joyful" in my opinion. I can definitely see myself getting a 2nd one, towards the holidays; or asking Santa for one. I highly recommend this top quality flannel shirt from Patagucci.

This is a great shirt, a little bit thicker and warmer than many plaid shirts, a real working flannel, perfect here in the Pacific Northwest.Cotton breathes well and has a nice soft hand, which hopefully does not impact longevity. The fit is fantastic for me, it might be old-school -- fits very true to size and has actually long enough sleeves, hard to find! Not a super-slim fashion fit; looks very sharp.I'm 5'11" and wear a 14.5 shirt with 33.5" sleeves, size Small fits great. Also tried on the Medium, the difference wasn't too much but it had more room in the body. Many companies I have the problem where either the torso and shoulders fit, but the sleeves are too short and the hem rides up, or I'm just swimming in it.Last thing, there are a few different items ... MoreThis is a great shirt, a little bit thicker and warmer than many plaid shirts, a real working flannel, perfect here in the Pacific Northwest.Cotton breathes well and has a nice soft hand, which hopefully does not impact longevity. The fit is fantastic for me, it might be old-school -- fits very true to size and has actually long enough sleeves, hard to find! Patagonia definitely changed the fit on these shirts. I have two others from a few years ago that are more boxy and roomy, but this version has a more athletic cut. Overall, I think it's a better look, but it definitely feels different wearing this one. I'm 5'11" and 175lbs. I'm a size medium in most things, so that's what I got with this shirt. The upper torso of this shirt is a bit snug and the buttons there pull a bit more than I'd like, but I still kept the shirt. The fabric is nice and comfy and the colors are great!
Definitely proving how subjective reviews are; most other low-star reviews complain about sizing changes, which I haven't noticed at all. Fit the same as ones I've been buying since 2018 or so. Patterns, colors, and stitching are all great, as usual. What made me return mine was the thickness of the fabric; the older ones I've had/worn hundreds of times by now are about twice as thick as the current midweight flannels Patagonia sells. I love these as a substantial layer, but they become far less warm and durable when they're about as thin as a standard shirt.Figured I'd found my default flannel for life here, but poor quality has me looking at other options.
Ive been buying Patagonia Fjord flannels for over ten years. I still have most of them and am greatly for well made items that fit well and stand the test of time. In a world where big men with long arms dont fit the mold when it comes to buying articles of clothing I felt like I found my brand. But, this most recent purchase left quite the disappointment the fit is incredibly tight and barely buttons up and the sleeves are much shorter? Mind you I had thought it would compare to all the others but not even close. Please consider going back to normalsizing and not making everything slim fit. Some of us dont have many options left.
Count Patagonia into the category of companies slimming out and sizing down their products. From the early 2000s through the mid 2000-teens, the flannels were heavier, cut more broadly and high quality. I have been a M in virtually every Patagonia offering (5’8” 175 athletic build) until the last two years. Now I’m “in-between” their M and L offerings with neither quite right. They claim no change to the patterns, so I guess it’s just a coincidence as manufacturing changed locations…still a decent shirt, we’ll see how the durability goes.
I purchased a similar flannel shirt, light classic Patagonia jacket, and snow coat 13 years ago. The jacket and snow coat are still going strong! The flannel finally started to show wear at fold in collar. I love these!I am a very low wage worker, so these are big purchases for me. I do understand quality and value. I admit that the same day I purchased this shirt, I did get 3 cheap flannels from Walmart for work. They will probably only last 1-2 years (tops). At some point, I will stop buying disposable clothing and stick with quality of clothing like Patagonia. Some high end clothing are just a premium for brand name. My experience is that Patagonia is a true value in comfort, quality, craftsmanship, and materials.
Flannel shirts are a dime a dozen. Everyone and their cousin makes 'em and seems like everyone wears 'em. But they are all chasing Patagonia's. Organic cotton for starters- softer and somehow more durable at the same time, not to mention the huge environmental positives of organic farming. And I recall the risk Patagonia took in about 1996 when they committed to everything organic. Amazing stand for the planet! But back to these flannels- perfect weight for all 3 season use, designs and colors are awesome, pockets perfect. I get plenty of compliments not only on this one, but all the others. Then there's the customer service- friendly, easy returns, 100% guaranteed. They likely cost a little more but last much longer and are easily worth it given all the above.
I've had a few of these for several years. I'm ~5'10" athletic build and Medium fits me like a glove. They're softer than other flannels I've worn, which makes them incredibly comfortable. In fact, I wasn't big on wearing flannels before owning these, but now they've become my ubiquitous fall/winter dress - good for every cooler temperature. I have 4 and they've all held up to everyday (+hiking) use without a single issue. Judging by the sheer number of reviews, I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of Patagonia's most-selling items. It is well-deserved.I especially appreciated when Patagonia did a run of these shirts in solid colors a couple of years ago - I wear them to the office in the winter and manage to look professional and stay comfortable!
