Love this item for hiking, and running in the elements. The waterproof zippers gives me that extra security for all my belongings knowing they will stay dry. The material and the lack of crunchy sound the material makes puts it far above most any rain jackets. Also have worn it snowboarding on the warmer days, good durable choice for the outdoor water elements. You cannot go wrong with this one!

the first time I wore this jacket was for a walk for my dogs in light to medium rain. within the first 10 minutes I noticed spots on the sleeves where water had already soaked into the fabric, however I overall remained dry. the second time I wore this jacket while cross country skiing in light/medium snow and the jacket soaked through much quicker then I had hoped. at the end of the day I was soaked through my base layer. others in my group with a gortex Patagonia snow jacket and a gortex rei rain jacket had begun to soak through by the end, but overall held up better then this jacket. I purposefully chose an H2No waterproofing jacket because it was the more environmentally friendly choice, but I am regretting not going for gortex instead. After dealing with one atmospheric river after another in California, it was time to invest in a proper rain jacket. This has stood up to the challenge, keeping me dry in the torrential rain we've had this year. I love that the hood has extra toggles to help keep it in place - I have other jackets without this, and it is annoying to keep pushing the hood out of my face so I can see. Such a small feature, but makes a world of difference.Runs a bit bigger than I thought - would size down if I were to do buy it again (but will keep this one, as I can add many layers under it if needed!). Great jacket!

This is an exceptionally constructed jacket, perfect for wet conditions without sweltering inside the jacket. It actually is waterproof and breathes! The fit is very generous, I normally wear a medium but I can wear a sweater in this size small jacket without feeling constrained, and the sleeve length is still perfect. I love how you can cinch everything and stay warm and dry. Ideal for hiking trips or days spent outside in wet or damp weather conditions.
This jacket was a gift from my Dad to me to use both during my long walks to college campus and use on our trips/work in National Parks/Monuments in the West. He loves his jacket of the same style and wanted to make sure I had a jacket that I would use for 10+ years with work and school.Love the use of unique materials and the thought behind this jacket. With the weather that Northern and Central California has experienced this winter, I have found this jacket to be bomb proof! Have never had the jacket soak through and coupled with its really lightweight feel and cut, have not found a true weakness. I also own a Torrentshell jacket of the same size and love them both. This style feels lighter but slightly slimmer in its cut where the Torrenshell is maybe slightly ... MoreThis jacket was a gift from my Dad to me to use both during my long walks to college campus and use on our trips/work in National Parks/Monuments in the West. You cant go wrong with either but love this one just a smidgin more right now.
Looks like this should be a good jacket quality-wise, but be careful of the sizing if you have a pear-shaped figure. My measurements are XXS for chest (31in) and almost S for hips (37.5in), so I gambled on an XS that was on sale. It fits pretty well on top with ample room for layering underneath, but indeed just barely fits in the hips. If I had sized up to match my hips, the top would be much too baggy. So, technically, this jacket seems to run to size, BUT that suggests Patagonia standard sizing is not a great fit for my body type. I will probably keep this jacket because it fits well enough to work, and because I like the features that most other brands dont offer (recycled content, repair and resale programs, fair trade manufacturing). However, the fit makes me wary of buying Patagonia jackets or tops in the future. I wish their sizing were just an inch or two more generous in the hips, to better accommodate those of us with curvier bottoms than busts (while still not being too roomy for smaller-hipped people). I would become a steady customer if I could be confident that garments would fit.
With all the rain that we have been having, I needed a versatile fall windbreaker and rain jacket that I could wear for running and just being outside. I love Patagonia products and initially purchased the Houdini, but felt it was too thin and not quite as durable. I am so happy with this product in terms of quality, versatility, and color. Highly recommend. In terms of sizing, I went with a medium to be able to wear a layer under it, but would have gone small if I didn’t want to have room for one. For reference I am about 5’10” and slender.
Have worn on a few hikes now. Very waterproof. Definitely need the pit zips when moving quickly in warmsih (60 degree) weather during rain, but they work well. Good hood. Comfy zipper placement and feel. Wish it had one interior chest pocket, but otherwise has been great. Not sure it would be very comfy in a rainstorm during an 80 degree day though, would probably be hot and sweaty.
My previous rain jacket was at the end of its life. I had it for 3 years and it got to the point where I was as wet wearing it as I would be if I didn't have it on. This jacket is a glorious replacement. Material is flexible, breathable, and most importantly waterproof. It has air vents under the armpits that I know I will use for running on rainy days. My last jacket had Velcro over a zipper, which did not help with securing the jacket, it caught on clothes. Patagonia jacket only uses a zipper which is a definite plus. Highly recommend if you're in the market for a well made versatile rain jacket.
I bought this to replace a Patagonia Rainshadow jacket. Right away I liked the fabric and fit. It has a soft feeling both inside and out. This jacket is much more packable than the Rainshadow or torrent shell and quieter. The hood is big but very adjustable and comfortable once you get it adjusted for your body.Have not had any issues with zippers and the pockets feel well placed and are good size. Stayed dry in the rain over the weekend.Would have preferred a darker color but for the price it meets my needs.I was debating between this Granite crest and the more pricy Storm10. Glad I tried the Granite crest first. A plus with the Granite crest is that it has pit zips.In our opinion, Patagonia offers great products and always stands behind them.
