Worth its weight in gold when the sun dips below the horizon, Patagonia's Down Sweater Vest keeps its focus simple: core warmth. It traps your hard-earned heat with high-loft, 800-fill-power Advanced Global Traceable Down (goose down certified by NSF International, traced from parent farm to apparel factory to help ensure that the birds are not force-fed or live-plucked) and its minimalist design practically floats—it’s so compact that it stuffs into an internal pocket (with a carabiner clip-in loop). The 100 % recycled polyester shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish provides wind and weather protection, while quilting lines stabilize the down. The drawcord hem tightens from inside the zippered handwarmer pockets, and nylon-bound elastic armholes seal in heat.

I haven't wanted to wear anything else since I received it. The bust runs slightly larger than I expected and the hip fits well. I'm about a half size larger on top so that was a surprise. Works with a thin or thick sweater underneath. But since it's fitted, a baggy/ loose cut sweater wouldn't work. I'm 5'6" and 115-120lbs, usually wear 26 jeans and size 2-4 top (xs/s).Nice quality fabric, thin but soft and smooth, matte, and it is warm. Good pockets inside and out. The "wool white" is slightly transparent, and I considered exchanging it for a different color; you can see the darker down colors inside and so it looks almost a little dirty or slightly mottled. I still love it and may just buy more of them. Amazing sale too.

I LOVED this vest I bought 4 months ago until I had a problem with it. A feather was poking out of the back of the vest. I tried to push it back in but couldn’t. I pulled it out but another followed. This vest is way too expensive to last 4 months. I contacted the store I purchased from and they opened a file with Patagonia. Their response was to push the feather back in (again, unable to) and they will send a patch - great, who wants a patch on the back of their vest. I am not hard on my clothing. I don’t rock climb etc. I wear it to and from pickleball and tennis so this shouldn’t have happened. I have many clothing items from Patagonia but will never purchase there again based on their poor customer service. This would not happen with any Lululemon items - they ... MoreI LOVED this vest I bought 4 months ago until I had a problem with it. A feather was poking out of the back of the vest. EOS Women’s Down Vest
12 September 2024

Since I live in Connecticut and Feathered Friends is located in California I had to do a best guess with the sizing provided online for a vest I wanted. I was looking at similar vests at REI and LLbean but took a chance on FF. When the vest arrived it was a little big and a size down would have been a better choice for me.On the shipping statement that came with the vest the Feathered Friends email was available but not the phone number which was disappointing. After I looked the phone number up I called and spoke to a nice gentleman explaining that I would like to exchange the vest for a smaller size. Unfortunately, I was told there is no exchange. Fit in waist much tighter than old style
28 January 2023

I was so excited to find this vest on sale in an awesome green color, but ended up really disappointed.I have 2 other down sweater vests from the past 2-5 years or so, and the fit is totally different on this new one.I actually liked the softer feel of the material (and that it's made from recycled fishing nets, here for that!), but I got it in the same size as one I bought 2 years ago and I can barely zip it. The old one still fits great. Sizing up would make it way too boxy in the shoulders.I honestly don't understand why the waist on the Patagonia women's items has gotten SO small in the past few years. I seriously don't get the measurements - I have a pretty normal waist size, and many older style Patagonia items that fit great in the same sizes, but I'm ... MoreI was so excited to find this vest on sale in an awesome green color, but ended up really disappointed.I have 2 other down sweater vests from the past 2-5 years or so, and the fit is totally different on this new one.I actually liked the softer feel of the material (and that it's made from recycled fishing nets, here for that!), but I got it in the same size as one I bought 2 years ago and I can barely zip it. Please stop making everything with such a tight waist!

Hips too tight
1 April 2023

Disappointing this wont work well for me. WHY are the hips so narrow? XL is my typical Patagonia size, and both the remodeled (2022-2023) down sweater vest and jacket have such a narrow hip that I cant wear my size, even though its loose and large enough (even somewhat too large/baggy) in the upper part of it.Whats baffling is that they put a drawstring cinch on the bottom of both vest and jacket, so you can cinch the hip. WHY do that if youve already made the hip as narrow as the narrowest of female hips? This vest and jacket are made for women with boyish hips, so the cinch is unnecessary.Of course I wish the design would be remade (much more sensibly) FOR wider hips, and then women without hips could cinch and wear the same item too.Alternatively, this tight ... MoreDisappointing this wont work well for me. If it was a shorter vest/jacket then it would sit above the hip and this wouldnt be an issue. I am 5 ft 6 in and the XL almost covers my entire butt, its so long.I dont mind a longer length, but not when I cant get it over my hips. This vest/jacket is not a slim fit. It is bulky in the waist and chest. Super tight on the hip. I dont even have huge hips compared to my torso. My hip to waist ratio is less than on P. size chart. This fit is not a womens fit. If you lay the down vest or sweater flat youll see that the hip is NOT wider than the underarm side of the vest. Its just a square. Vast majority of womens bodies, pelvic bones, are wider at hips. Please remodel this for wider hips, include the cinch, and many many more women will be able to wear the same item.

Ill fitting, what a pity
29 July 2024

I bought this product because I like the RTDS standard Patagonia uses for its down jackets, going extra steps to ensure the welfare of the geese.Unfortunately, the jacket itself is too tight at the hips to be usable. The problem is not with my body type, jackets from other outdoor brands fit just fine. Maybe Patagonia is sizing their womens' clothes for a specific ethnicity, where the women perhaps have very, very, very narrow hips. But women of *most* ethnicities do not have this body type.Alongwith the sustainability focus, I wish Patagonia could add inclusivity to its goals.

Love the new fit!
13 October 2023

I didn’t realize the fit was new until reading some of the reviews. I tried on what must’ve been the previous version and it just did not work for me at all. It was like a square. This one finally works for someone my height! I love patagonias things so much but most of the stuff for women my height are very unflattering - short arms, short torso, boxy. I still wouldn’t call it long but for my height it’s passable. Very happy to finally be able to own one of these! Thought I’d leave a review because I see lots of people complaining about how these are long but for tall people the new design is great! Thanks!!!

Runs really small in the hips
26 December 2023

I had a small in the older version but after my third kiddo, my hips spread a bit and it was too small. My husband got me the mens version in a medium for Christmas because I prefer a boxier fit, but it went too far down past my hips and around my butt and it was too tight at hips and too big up top. The woman medium wouldn't even go over my hips. I had to go to a womens large to go over my hips. I am a size 6!!! I am a rectangle with smaller hips and no booty and I am a small or medium in almost every other brand. Having to go up 2 sizes was bonkers. Its big in the chest, shoulders, and waist, but apparently giving birth made me no longer fit in Patagonia's sizing standards. Its soft and warm but I miss the old fit.

Wanted to like, but feathers kept coming out
15 February 2024

Such a light weight and great concept vest. I really wanted to like this product. I love vests and wear them often, so thought this would be a nice addition to my rotation especially for travel. Upon first try-on, I was almost afraid to zip up the front with such a delicate zipper. I did love the zippers on the hand pockets though so +1 star for that feature. After making it through a few small zipper snags, I looked in a mirror for fit - it was a bit boxy but I could see a sweater or layered long sleeve shirt underneath. Then, to my surprise, feathers started to poke out of the fabric! I wasn't even moving around in front of the mirror. So, I lifted my arms and turned around and more feathers came out. I guess while this is real down, I didn't think that would be something I would want happening while wearing the vest out and about. The last time I owned a Patagonia vest, I took a windy boat ride and trekked across a city with no issues, but thinking about the feathers coming out while staying still, I made the decision to return this product. Hopefully those who are considering purchasing are reading. I encourage you to give this vest a shot and if you are looking to do minimal movement and likely minimal washing (I did not wash the product but can imagine that would not go well for me), then this vest may be for you. As for me, onward with my new vest search! :)
