Awesome jacket

I am very happy with this purchase. The fabric of the jacket is the kind of feel Ive been searching for in a jacket for years. I am so pleased I took the leap to get this jacket. I wanted a jacket big enough to look good but also be able to zipper with a sweatshirt underneath. I am normally a large, but to accomplish this, I bought an XL and it fits just the way I like. The sleeves are naturally a bit too long because of how I got a bigger size than I normally am, and my arms are short. But I rolled them once and they are fine. I may choose to get the sleeves altered down the road since this is the type of jacket I will own for a long time. I cant say enough about the silky smooth feel on this jacket. I am obsessed with this jacket. I purchased it from another retailer about a year ago when Patagonia was sold out in my size and color, but just as easily would have purchased directly from Patagonia. I was hunting for a down jacket that checked all of my boxes:1. Super warm and comfy2. Flattering fit (so any down jackets just don't look cute, call me vain)3. Had a hood (detachable or not did not matter to me)4. Sustainable production/materials of the jacket itself5. The princess seams make this super puffy jacket still incredibly flattering, and when I am wearing it I never want to take it off. It is so warm and cozy, keeping me from getting cold in temperatures well below freezing (I live in Alaska and have worn this jacket for dog walks in sub-zero temperatures with layers underneath and have stayed very warm). The hood is generously sized yet does not swallow my head when I put it up. The pockets are warm for my hands, making cold dog walks a lot easier so I do not have to wear gloves on one of my hands (helps me use the poop bags much easier). Most importantly, this jacket that is perfectly designed also is made with recycled and responsibly sourced materials, just like most of Patagonia's products. Patagonia is a company I will continue to purchase from because of their emphasis on environmental and social responsibility. I will even get the parka length version of this jacket someday when my current parka wears out/no longer serves me!For size references: I am a woman, 5'6", 180 lbs, curvy/athletic build, usually wear a size large in Patagonia tops, size 10 in most pants. This jacket fits me perfectly with just a t-shirt under it, or even still fits with a mid-weight layer like a Patagonia fleece or a hoodie without feeling super bulky/snug.

Excellent but wish it comes in petite length

The jacket is warm and comfortable, and I like the detachable hoodie. I bought this for an upcoming Minneapolis trip in the winter. I love that it is made of sustainable materials and fair wage practices. I can see myself wearing/ using this jacket for many years. I only wish it comes in a petite size/ length. I'm only 4'11" and the arms are too long. I like that it covers my derriere but that's because I'm short enough. I know the sleeves are going to be too long for me, that's why I wish Patagonia had petite selections - it would be more inclusive that way for people like me. I can have it altered by a tailor, but I fear I can't resell it or donate it sometime in the distant future.

Finally a fitted puffy for cold!
27 December 2022

I love this new jacket! Its slimming fit shows how far we have come from the days of only unisex. The jacket feels way warmer than my last winter down jacket since it hugs closer to my mid section than a more boxy cut. I have long limbs and this jacket is good. Snaps for a quick closure are a fun option instead of zipping which can need some thoughtful closing due to the hi loft. It has a small interior pocket with a zip & hand warmer pockets that zip, too, to keep your items safe. I live & work in the snow & look forward to a warmer jacket with its high neck & longer waist to be ready for gnarly conditions. Thanks Patagonia for making a jacket thats loaded with great options!

Good jacket
24 March 2022

Its very warm. I like the detachable hood. I waited until the end of the season, trying to get it on sale. I went to the store in Atlanta and found it, but they didnt have my size. The sales associate was extremely helpful, we found a size and a color that I liked on the website that she had mailed to me. Unfortunately that combination was not on sale. But, because I was returning for down jackets that my kids had outgrown I had a good credit, so I bought the full price one anyway. It was much warmer than I had anticipated. So I had not realized that I would be using the detachable feature of the hood as soon as I did. I live in Georgia, so our springs are extremely mild. I have three kids so my main pockets usually end up holding masks and snacks and various other small people items. And I tend to zip my important things on the inside. All in all, I would definitely buy this jacket again and pay full price again.

Great-looking, super warm, lightweight, comfortable - just what I was looking for!
10 December 2022

I purchased the Down With It jacket in Hemlock Green because I was looking for something with a little more tailored/feminine fit than the Down Sweater Hoody I've been wearing for the past few years. I still have the Down Sweater Hoody, and I'll keep both jackets for different purposes; while the Down With It jacket is very lightweight and comfortable, it has more volume and is just by nature bulkier than the Down Sweater, which is more "packable" and which I would also feel more comfortable taking on adventures where it could get dirty or banged up. The Down With It jacket could easily be dressed up and worn out almost anywhere. It will be my everyday go-anywhere coat for the next several winters.Fit on the Down With It jacket is exactly what I'd hoped for; more ... MoreI purchased the Down With It jacket in Hemlock Green because I was looking for something with a little more tailored/feminine fit than the Down Sweater Hoody I've been wearing for the past few years. It will be my everyday go-anywhere coat for the next several winters.Fit on the Down With It jacket is exactly what I'd hoped for; more tailored and effeminate (although not overly so), with full coverage to the tops of my thighs in the front and back, which I was pleasantly surprised about. It's a bit narrow in the hips, but I have bigger hips and thighs in general, plus I'm carrying more weight than usual. Otherwise the jacket has plenty of room for layering (I'm typically a small or medium in regular tops, always order medium in Patagonia jackets/pullovers to allow room) and is TTS. So far we haven't had many terribly cold days, but I've worn it in temps between 28 and 60 degrees, and it has been comfortable throughout the entire range (obviously you don't want to wear it for too long in the 60s, though - it's definitely made for colder weather!).Long story short, it's exactly what I was looking for, and it was made even better by the fact I only had to pay for shipping because I traded in a bunch of my old stuff to Worn Wear and got enough credit to cover the cost of this great jacket. Highly recommend!

So Warm and Cuddly
30 January 2023

At long last a jacket made for those of us with large hips! Thank you Patagonia! I've had to purchase Men's XL jackets in the past so that they would go around my derriere. This is made for women and is amply sized. I just love it. My favorite part is the soft fleecy lining around the neck. When out in the cold and I zip up the collar it is so soft and nice around my neck. I give this only 4 stars because here are my complaints about this great jacket: 1. The sleeves are too long for me. 2. I wish there was an elastic cuff in the sleeves to keep them in place and to prevent cold air from going up the sleeves. 3. I wish it had a two-way zipper so that I could wear it zipped up while sitting and simply open the zipper at the bottom edge. It is softer and more durable than the flimsy ripstop nylon in other jackets. Since the fabric is made of recycled materials, that makes it even better in my eyes. The hem is tapered and is beautifully long in the back. It hits me mid-thigh. I love that the hood can be snugged up to fit around my face. The stitching style is slenderizing, and I need all the help I can get! This is so warm and cozy. I love this jacket!

Super warm and cozy...great hood and comfortable!
7 February 2023

I had put off buying a really warm jacket for years as I live in San Diego, and being born and raised here, I never felt I really "needed it". However, this winter has been the coldest I can remember ~ so it was time to step it up! Went to my favorite Patagonia store in Cardiff and dropped into three warm jackets! With this one being the WARMEST of coziest with a GREAT HOOD FOR beach walks in the morning! The style is awesome as it is a little longer in the back than the sweaters.... it is so cozy and warm (feels like you are wearing a cloud) and the hood is the BEST hood that I have ever had in a warm jacket/coat! woohoo! thank you Patagonia for designing and creating such A+ products, and having such a stellar staff at the store (and on line) to help us! xoxo

The perfect down jacket
10 February 2023

For about a year I have been searching for the down jacket that would meet all my requirements, and in this Down with it jacket I found it. Had to be machine washable, and a dark color (black); with a detachable hood; very warm and extremely windproof and rain resistant. I am 5 feet 6 inches and 120lbs, but I ordered a Large knowing it would be roomy on me, but I wanted it to fit comfortably if I wore a perfect sweater jacket under it. it is slightly shaped in the waist, so doesnt look like too big on me. And the longer back length is perfect! Only wish the chest pocket was accessible when the jacket was zipped up, and was a little less deep (my iPhone drops down into it almost to my waist.). But overall I love it! Good for shopping in town, hiking. And walking the dog.

Wonderful, Warm Winter Coat
4 November 2021

This coat is extremely comfortable and cozy! I absolutely love how comfy and loose it feels around my legs, waist, and chest; while keeping me warm, and covered up outside in cooler temperatures. So far it's held up really well as I wear it around town, and on my errands. Also, I usually take a size medium in coats. However, I discovered a size medium was still too small for me. And with Patagonia's quick customer service, I was able to exchange my medium coat for a large one. Which fits much, much better! And the sleeves of the size large seem to be the exact same length as the medium coat. So there's no need to worry about having to roll up your coat sleeves.
