I loved almost everything about this Micro Puff jacket, but was so disappointed that the colour Wax Red did not reflect the photos on line. I was expecting a brighter red and not a colour which was bordering on maroon. Unfortunately I returned the jacket. Please Patagonia go back to providing a really great red for jackets, like in previous times. I’m sure they will be popular with women and men.Kind regards, Kristine

Even after reading many reviews I was still surprised upon receipt by how light, cozy and packable this jacket is. It is deceivingly warm and wind resistant but for 35 and below youll want to layer it with a thermal underneath unless youre going to be strenuously moving about. I have a petite athletic build, wider shoulders and narrow hips, and it fits me better than any other jacket I own. I would avoid if you are very large busted or if you have wider hips; it is truly perfectly cut for small bust, full shoulders, narrow hips. I found it to be well made and contrary to other reviews I have no issues with the neck whether fully zipped up or not. The elastic at the waist and cuffs keeps wind out without being overly tight or intrusive. Thanks Patagonia for adding a cut to the line for those of us who usually have to live with jackets baggy in the hips in order to fit the shoulders! I love the sleek form fitting cut and as others have mentioned its so light and cozy youll find yourself snuggling up inside with it as it is lighter and much warmer than that hoodie youre used to grabbing when youre trying to save on the heating bills! It will definitely be the only jacket I travel with going forward; will be all I need for20 to 50 degrees without taking up any space and being light as a feather.

This is my first Patagonia jacket! I did lots of research to see what would work for me and ended up settling for this jacket as many said it was a good piece for weather up to 40s (I'm in Nebraska and we never know what the weathers gonna look like!). So far, it's been in the 50s/high 40s and chilly wind and this jacket does keep me warm! It's very light weight however and very thin so the technology in this must be LEGIT. I'm concerned about the sizing however, I got a size XL which is my normal size in jackets but this is very tight around the hips, which I don't like at all. I wanted this so I could wear it with sweaters underneath but seeing now that's it is a very tight fit, I don't see that happening. I purchased this coat over Christmas at an REI store in Chicago. I could not be happier with it! I found the size Large to be true to size. (Especially if you want to layer.)It definitely has a little more room than any other Large I own from Patagonia. (I feel their sizing has changed through the years)What I love the most is the versatility of this jacket. I'll use a base layer with a heavy mid weight layer on bitter cold days. It does a great job blocking the wind. The hood is a huge plus for me. I have a German Shepherd and we spend quite a bit of time outside. This jacket excels in wet conditions. It has kept me dry not only in the rain but also during wet heavy snow. The only fault I can find is the zippers sometimes catch on my sleeves when not zipped up all the way. When layered correctly, it is way warmer than the Down Sweater and the Down With It Parka.I am happy with my purchase and so is my dog! I can spend more time outside now. Thank you Patagonia!
I have a few Patagonia jackets and this is my least favorite. The reviews are accurate about it fitting tight at the bottom. It looks and feels awkward at the bottom when zipped because it is a very tight fit only at the bottom, the arms, shoulders and chest fit perfect. I was between getting this style and the Nano puff. I chose this style because it was on sale and slightly cheaper. Also, the gray color is not as shined as it appears in pictures, which is fine either way to me. I just wanted a different color other than black. I do like how it’s lightweight and it kept me warm running errands in 30 degree weather going in and out of the car and I wasn’t overly hot keeping it on while inside. For reference I’m 5’5 160lbs Athletic build and I have a booty so the jacket does not lay well at my hips and backside when zipped. Before purchasing I would recommend trying this jacket on first so you can get the feel for this this fit because you may rethink buying it if you are pear shaped.
I brought this jacket on a ski/sail trip in Northern Norway, where we got blasted with 7 days straight of arctic storms and gale force winds. I was seriously blown away (pun intended) with how warm it was, and how well it cut out the wind. I didn't need to wear any additional shells on the deck of the boat, as the jacket was waterproof enough to repel snow, rain, and ocean spray.I was nervous about packability (especially with no internal stuffsack), but I was able to fit it in my 26L BD JetForce Airbag with plenty of space left for other gear. It was so comforting to know I had this beast of a jacket on hand in wet and unpredictable weather conditions! I put it on immediately at every transition, and was so warm/cozy on descents. I bought this jacket on sale and am very glad I did. The Plumafill combined with the unique construction in the Micro Puff line really delivers. The clever, locked, interrupted stitching looks like it will NEVER snag (unlike Nano Puff and others). The fill delivers instant warmth. And the shell is quite wind- and precip resistant, even hiking in blustery, cold conditions. And it is SO unbelievably light; it truly lives up to expectations. Overall the jacket has a bit more body than a Nano, but it is not stiff or noisy. The large internal pockets can serve as a stuff sack, tho I have not yet tried packing it. The fit seems true to size; I purchased a large only so I could layer over a vest when February gets here! Pricey, but frankly worth it. And especially on sale!
I love my Down Hoodie, but it makes me sweat like crazy, even in the middle of winter. I’ve been looking for something lightweight and synthetic in the hopes I can wear it to run errands and walk the dogs without being a sweaty mess. I wish I had bought the Micro Puff sooner! Don’t let the ridiculously thin material fool you…it’s warm, windproof, and best of all, sweat-free! I’ve been using it in 0-5c weather and can easily see myself wearing this all winter except for the coldest days. I wish Patagonia made more colours…I feel like I will be buying quite a few more of these! I’m 5’6” 130lbs and the small fits well with a light layer. If I wanted to wear a thick sweater underneath, medium would be better. I purchased this for travel and hiking because of the warmth-to-weight ratio. It is lightweight, packs down to small package using one of the pockets, and is quite warm. I agree with other reviewers about it having an odd fit, though. Having tried it on in the store, I purchased a size up - I would normally be a Medium, but I got a Large. The medium was tight in the shoulders and hips, but fit OK through the middle. The large gives me a little extra room in the shoulders, which I like, and it fits snug around the hips, but is big in the middle, and the sleeves are very long. It really does seem like it's cut for a male figure, not a female one. Still, I like it well enough to give it 4 stars, especially since I got it on sale.
You are going to say TMI, but.... I bought a Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket about three years ago and LOVE it. I wanted to buy in more colors, but since I had scored that one at 50% off, I couldn't justify paying full price for others. My lucky internet research found the Micro Puff here at Peter Glenn for 40% off. While the Micro Puff is more expensive than the Nano Puff, it was still a huge score, and worth every penny. But before purchasing I found a comparison of the two online. I wasn't completely sold, but decided to go for it. Besides, they had them in black and navy, which is actually what I was looking for. So, here is my take. The comparison I read was completely spot on. The nano has a single interior zip pocket at the chest while the micro has two two ... MoreYou are going to say TMI, but.... So, here is my take. The comparison I read was completely spot on. The nano has a single interior zip pocket at the chest while the micro has two two elasticized pockets that start at the lower rib cage and extend to the bottom of the jacket. I was leery of the elasticized pockets, but they are so deep that I can't imagine anything falling out unless you are actually tumbling. If then. The micro is just a tad warmer, but not too much so. The quilting, while similar, is more of a vertical box and the boxes are smaller on the lower arms and sides. Also, as of right now the Micro's are shinier than my Nano, but I haven't washed them yet. I'm secretly hoping that goes away, but it's not so annoying as to dismiss my satisfaction with them. Overall, extremely happy! And the navy, is close to being accurate.....I like a dark indigo blue and this one is as close to anything you can hope for. Highly recommend.
