(620 reviews)

The Women's Patagonia Quandary Pants are multi functional pants that offer premium comfort for all season wear. These Patagonia pants offer a comfortable fit and are made of a lightweight, quick-drying, stretch woven nylon with just a touch of spandex for a bit of stretch. The Quandary pants also feature a durable water repellent finish made without intentionally added PFAS to shed light moisture and the fabric has a UPF sun protection factor of 40+. The Quandary pants were fashioned with articulation behind the knees to allow for a full range of motion and they convert to capris with a tab, loop and metal snap to keep the cuffs in place. Another great feature of these all-season pants are the two front drop-in pockets, two back drop-in pockets and one right-thigh zippered pocket. The Women's Patagonia Quandary Pants are versatile, multi functional pants that will be your new favorite for years to come. Available at Travel Country Outfitters.

I submitted a review back in May stating that I did not like the new design and fit of these pants. Someone from Patagonia replied and I really appreciate that, thank you. :) I am submitting another review now though because I have a new found love for these pants. I still prefer the old design but here is what happened to change my mind. I was heading to the mountains which was about a 6 hour trip. My 'driving pants' need to be super comfortable and I had them on getting in the car which was all packed and ready to go when I noticed spots on them. With no time for laundering or looking for another pair of comfy pants I grabbed the nearest clean pants which happened to be these new style Quandary pants. I now love these pants and although they are totally different from the older ones, I would suggest giving them a chance and wearing them for a while before deciding if you like them.

I bounce back and forth between a small/4 and medium/6 in Patagonia items but I ordered the 6 in these because I wanted extra room for a thermal baselayer (to wear in Iceland and Peru). These are really comfortable and fit me (athletic/muscular with hips and a butt (i.e. not stick thin) at 5'8" and about 140 lbs) really well. The side pocket doesn't fully fit an iPhone 14 Pro Max, but that's not a big deal. They're pretty thin/lightweight, stretchy, and have plenty of room in the legs (I can see why some reviewers called them baggy but it didn't bother me). Fabric's DWR coating worked pretty well in constant mist/blowing snow/light rain. MUCH BETTER FIT than the other brand that starts with P whose iconic pants start with a Z (like, a million miles better).

Quandary Pros: Comfortable, take up no space, and dry quickly. Cons: They stretch out with wear, so I'd have been better sizing down. They also are magnets for pet hair in both black and brown. The hair kinda weaves through the fabric. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this before. Not a huge deal, just annoying to pick out the hair if I sit on the floor.Bring back the Escala Rock Pants, please, please, please. The Fall 2019 version was perfection, just needed more colors. Great fit!
11 June 2024

I am quite short at 156 cm and these pants fit great in length and size!!! So excited to try them out in a hike.In terms of fit, in case it helps anyone, I am pretty muscular (lots of weightlifting) and have been blessed with big hips. My hips are usually way bigger than my waist and pants tend to have a gap in the back. I also tend to bloat from endometriosis, so I wanted pants that could fit me on my bloating days too. These pants seemed to be perfect for me!My waist is 73 to 85 cmMy hips are 110 cmI am also around ~80kgI sized to 12 US for my waist, and it fits my hips well! It also high waisted on me, so it feels really comfortable. I can squat on them and are comfortable to put on. I also like the inner band that can tighten the pants if I want. New version a dud
18 April 2024

I recently wrote a glowing review of these pants but my review referred to the old version. I returned my order of the new Quandary pants. The fabric is NOT the same as the old, the pockets are not the same and overall the construction of the pants seems skimpy and cheap. I had not realized the pants would be different and was incredibly disappointed, hence the return. The little flaps over the rear pockets are stupid and impede accessibility. The right leg zipper pocket on the old pants was very useful but now gone. The new pants are not made nearly as well as the old - the legs do not hang evenly but bow as if the stitching is careless or too tight. The new version is a disaster. Bring back the old Quandary pants.

Probably the Africa Pants I was needing
2 May 2024

Bought a pair of these yesterday at the REI store and now buying a second pair online. Got Size 6/30 inseam. I need a standard pant for Africa trip. What I was looking for was: beige (check), something with a plain hem that could be shortened if needed without moving ankle zippers etc. (check- also not needed due to inseam). Quick-dry type fabric (check), roll up compactly for packing (check). Also, these were more flattering than the other ones I tried on. I considered zip-offs, but find them kind of ugly, and by the time you roll them up for packing you could have packed BOTH a pair of pants and a pair of lightweight shorts. String at waist for adjusting in. The only complaint I have is that I wish the color were a click less brown, as it's not quite a neutral ... MoreBought a pair of these yesterday at the REI store and now buying a second pair online. Will be a little tricky.

Quandary Pants are totally different fit than former Quandary Pants - beware!
8 March 2024

I have a few pair of Quandary pants. They fit well and are great. I just order/received another pair of “Quandary pants” - they are totally different in the fit. There is no description/fit change or warning on your website. They are too tight in waist, too tight in backside, a bit looser in hips and my weight or height has not changed at all. So so sad to see this new, not at all like old tried true Quandry pants. Wow. Sizing to materal to quality is a dud. I returned my order of the new Quandary pants. The fabric is NOT the same as the old, the pockets are not the same and overall the construction of the pants seems skimpy and cheap. I had not realized the pants would be different and was incredibly disappoin. The right leg zipper pocket on the old pants was very useful but now gone. disappointed to see the new design and reviews of my fav Patagonia pant
13 April 2024

These were my favorite pants for travel, hiking and day to day wear especially in summer. The fit and comfortable pockets made these a great all around fit. Even great for long hauls in airplanes and travel. The new design looks like it will ride up in the crotch and the redesign of the side leg pocket also looks not as useful. I hope your designers will go back to the classic quandry wider leg fit and softer lighter weight fabric. In a pinch, when traveling, I have even worked the black old quandry design into a chic palazzo pant look for nighttime. Don’t think that will work with the new design. Glad I bought lots of colors of “old” design in multiples over the years.

nice, multi use pants
30 August 2024

these are great! They're light weight, look nice, and fit really well. I don't know how to say they're "true to size" or anything since there's no continuity to sizing anywhere now. I have size 0 shorts from Gap that fit as well as my new, size 4 pants (and shorts - I got the same kind of shorts). They're casual but easy to upgrade with a nice top to be good for a dinner.I love that they resist water a bit a(and paw prints). They dry fast when washed!I love the little zippered pocket on the thigh! great for putting something small that could easily pop out when pulling something else out from a pocket. and there's a little shoelace around the waste for times when I get a little stressed (I tend to get skinny when things get a little intense)
