Patagonia is a known problem-solver, and with the R1 Lite Yulex Top, they've found a sustainable way to get us out into the summer surf with a smile on our face and a happy heart. This 1. 5-millimeter wetsuit top is a great addition for cutting the chill of breezy conditions and early morning surf. It's constructed with Yulex natural rubber for high-performance capabilities and added warmth but without the petroleum and harmful chemicals required for neoprene production. Patagonia claims Yulex natural rubber reduces their wetsuit CO2 emissions by a whopping 80% over standard neoprene-based wetsuits. And this season Patagonia has updated the construction to be stretchier, lighter, and more comfortable than before.

Awesome!

I tried many Neoprene jackets for colder water swimming. They were sooo tight in the wrong places and many smelled like toxic rubber. When i saw the Patagonia choice i was excited. Ordered one size up from a usual 10 to a 12 because I'm slim but my bust is 34D. The jacket fit perfectly! And it keeps me warm for swimming in 65-75 degree water. Now i can go to the pool on days i wouldn't and enjoy a swim.I cant recommend Patagonia enough. They are taking measures to be ecologically friendly and have high quality stuff.

Child Size?

Opening this package, I honestly could only assume that this is an actual error on behalf of Patagonia and that these are for children. My full wetsuit (not from Patagonia) is a Size 8, and on average I wear a Med Top and Large Bottom in Patagonia clothing. After seeing other reviews about this running small, I bought this wetsuit jacket in Size 12. Runs small is an understatement. I hope Patagonia addresses this inconsistency in sizing.

More about the fit

More about the fit. It's a wetsuit so buy at least one size up. If you have really long arms, it will not be as short as most W wetsuit tops. It will hit just before your hands. I am 5'9" 135, 36B/C with most of my height in my legs, and the 10 is a good fit -- but -- with too much room in the breast area. I guess Patagonia thinks I should have a larger chest? An 8 would be too tight in the arms for sure. If you are a D or higher, I think this will fit you.

Runs *very* small
17 March 2023

Runs *very* small -- I had to return, and ended up 2 sizes larger than my regular Patagonia size. Arm holes still fairly small even on my small build; hoping it doesn't chafe. Not yet in use as it's winter here. Time will tell.

Solid snorkling/ diving layer!
23 May 2023

Absolutely love this jacket! Historically I get shivering cold in warm water (70-76 degree temp waters) and finally decided it was time to find a jacket because a half mil shirt wasn't helping enough. So I bought this jacket prior to our latest trip and it did the trick! We snorkeled and dove all throughout the week and not once was I uncomfortable cold. This jacket is longer than a couple of the others I had tried which I liked because I felt it kept more body warmed water around me. It's also not restrictive and easy to get on dry and pull off after use.One thing I do recommend before buying this jacket is to look up the size chart on Patagonia. It varies from the one Backcountry supplied and I used Patagonia's chart to purchase my correct size.

Tight but Warm
22 March 2023

This wet suit top was perfect for the cool temps of the Caribbean in winter. From past year's experience, I dreaded easing into the water for snorkeling & swimming, but this top kept me warm. It was a challenging to zip it up over my ample breasts, so women: keep your breast size in mind when ordering!! My much smaller daughter (size 2) found the top (size 10) perfectly suitable for her so we were able to share it. It somehow worked on both of us, but if I was reordering I'd go up a size.

Too small--terrible sizing
2 July 2022

this wet suit top looks wonderful as a product, well constructed and designed, with Patagonia's usual commitment to ethical construction. I have to return it, because the sizing is way off, even for Patagonia. I typically wear a M, or sometimes a L, in Patagonia. I am 5'5", 145 lbs, size 34G, and am an active 46 y.o. For this wetsuit top, I used the size chart, which includes helpful measurements. However, the largest size available was WAY too small for me. I cannot be the largest customer for this product, and so it's unacceptable to me that Patagonia is not offering this top in a more reasonable size range. Also, even if the top were offered in a size 14 or 16, which might have fit, that would have me ordering an XL or XXL. The labels don't matter to me, but the ... Morethis wet suit top looks wonderful as a product, well constructed and designed, with Patagonia's usual commitment to ethical construction. Very Strange Fit
5 October 2020

I bought this for paddle boarding in cooler weather, and quick ocean dips in the spring and fall. After reading the reviews & the size chart I purchased the largest size, 10. I am usually a medium or even a small size in most clothing. But I'm tall and have broad shoulders. The arms are extremely tight, almost cutting off circulation so it definitely wouldn't fit someone with large muscles or bigger arms. I'm a 36-A and it fits the chest snuggly. I wouldn't want to go any smaller. But it gaps at the bottom where my waist is, meaning that if I take it to the ocean the water won't be sealed inside, which is the point of a wetsuit. I have neoprene pants that work well this way already. I can't imagine who would fit this suit properly, so I'm guessing it was built for style and not for function. It's the cut of the suit that I have a problem with. It's beautiful and looks good on me. It's just not practical.

Very small
11 February 2023

I ordered a size 4 and I had to exchange it because it was WAY too small. I got the 6 but it is still very tight. I had to return it and got store credit. Not sure if I want to order the next size up or look elsewhere. The material seemed like it would keep me warm though

well made wet suit
4 September 2019

I am allergic to latex and adhesive, like ones for bandages. I was concerned that I will be have an allergic reaction to the material of the suit as well as the adhesive. The wet suit department sent me a several swatches to test. I didn't have any reaction!!! I ordered the suit in a size 8. I wear Patagonia size 6, except the pants since I have very large thighs. One size larger than your clothing size will work.I swim in an outdoor pool. In the cold mornings and fall and winter, this wet suit kept me warm. Little restricted so I don't swim as fast, but great for resistance training. This wet suit is still going strong, like new, after almost a year of wear in the pool. Very well made and I hope to have it for many more years.
