I've struggled to find waterproof trousers in my size. Being 5 ft 2" is a curse when it comes to certain hiking gear. The XS was right in waist & hip, and the shorter length is helpful. It's still fairly baggy pair of trousers but the draw strings help to keep them up. Draw strings are quite short and seem flimsy - perhaps this could be improved? Otherwise a great pair of functional trousers from an ethical company - can't ask for more really.

I am really liking these pants so far. Have worn them on multiple walks in the rain and they have kept me dry. I love the zip leg with the snap buttons on the bottom. I feel they do fit true to size, though I do need to use the drawstring to tighten them at the waist. But at 5'4" and ~135-140lbs, I feel that the extra small would be too small for me. My only complaint about these pants is the lack of an inside loop to hang the pants on a hook to dry them (I am forced to throw them over a door, or hang just from the back waistband, which i feal will wear the inside material after repeatedly hanging them this way)

Got these pants so I can shlep my kids around on our cargo bike in the rain. They were all warm and dry under their rain cover and I was always a drowned rat. Now that I have these pants I am wondering why I waited so long and just accepted soggy pants all day. They are large enough to fit easily over even loose pants, zip on ankles long enough to get my boots through. Stayed totally dry on first 2 rainy bikes. Seem useful for any super wet weather. Wasnt sweaty.

Noisy but effective
26 December 2023

These pants are great at keeping me dry but the fabric is noisy when moving. I have raincoats which do the same, the price for staying dry and probably unavoidable. My only criticism of these pants relates the zippers on the legs. I wish they were longer to more easily facilitate putting the pants on with muddy hiking boots already on. Rain storms on the trail happen often in the PNW and I do not want to take my boots off to pull these rain pants on. Otherwise, these pants are great. They fit well over pants and do not cause overheating. The fabric seems tough enough to withstand years of clambering over boulders and downed trees.

Not sure if they are really waterproof
9 November 2023

I bought these pants for my bike commute to work this fall. I rode to work in the rain twice (45min ride) . First time, I was dry but second time (very heavy rain), my dry-fit leggings i was wearing underneath were wet. It was 6-7C degrees outside so maybe it was sweat? Otherwise, the small fit me perfectly, i am 5'8" 140lb with very narrow hips. When i peddle the bike, the pants ride up a bit, I would have prefered a longer length and I have to tuck the bottom of the pants in long socks. They do make a swishy sound like other reviewers mentioned but it doesnt bother me.

Not worth the high price!!
26 October 2023

In my effort to replace my older pair of H2no pants ( which completely deteriorated internally in a relatively short period of time) , I have reordered both the size small and x small. Neither fit... small is too big, x small just barely too small. My biggest complaint though is the drawstring . Just 2 nylon cords to tie together inside of the elastic waist? This "technology" seems pretty outdated and to have to tie and untie a drawstring for shell pants seems pretty silly. I don't think the old style had this function. For the price, it just seems strange. I am wishing there were a few other styles to choose from because I have my credit for my return and really need new rain pants!!

Patagonia Torrentshell 3 Layer Pants
27 July 2024

I bought these pants for hiking in rainy conditions in Newfoundland, and they worked as promised, keeping me dry in heavy downpours. The quality is excellent, as with most Patagonia items I have tried. Sizing is generous enough, and the long side zippers makes it really easy to put them on and take them off while wearing hiking boots. They seem durable so far, and the outside pockets are also useful. I would definitely recommend these quality rain pants if you need protection in heavy rain.

Small, Short
7 November 2023

I buy quality gear for my travels, so when I needed pair of rain pants for my very active three weeks in Iceland, of course my first instinct was to add to my Patagonia collection. With my petite frame, 4'11", 115 lbs, I required full length zippers as the weather there is quite changeable quite often. The Torrentshell pants performed as required but even in size small, short, they were way too baggy, swished when I walked or hiked and at times snagged on brush or stones. I had to roll up the cuffs to take up some of the length. The silhouette was most unflattering. I realize they are designed to be an outside layer, and they did easily cover various combinations of base layer, tights, jeans, and hiking pants. When I came home, I ordered a pair of slim fitting ... MoreI buy quality gear for my travels, so when I needed pair of rain pants for my very active three weeks in Iceland, of course my first instinct was to add to my Patagonia collection. When I came home, I ordered a pair of slim fitting Arc'teryx full zip rain pants (at considerably more cost) and will try to resell or pass on to a friend the Patagonia pants. It's not you; it's us little people. And rest assured this will not affect future purchases as your stuff is the best and your commitment to the planet is unmatched.

These rainpants cycled over 25,000 miles
3 July 2024

Breathable durable rainpants that last through anything! I got my first set of these rainpants 20 years ago. They have accompanied me on my bike around the world through over 35 countries. In between adventures, they have cycled through 20 Seattle rainy winters, keeping me dry without sweating. I finally broke down and bought a new pair this year because they are finally wearing out.Patagonia has kept every feature that matters, including the amazing fabric. I'll never buy any other rainpants.

Wonderful rain jacket
27 November 2023

I was looking to purchase this jacket from Patagonia, but at a lower price point. Sun & Ski had a great deal, and they were able to ship to our APO address. The jacket arrived quickly and is the quality I expected.I'm 5'3", 150 lbs, and a 36C. Went with the size large since I planned on putting it over my base layer and Patagonia R1. It's slightly big, but size up if you plan on layering. A medium fit me, but I couldn't really comfortably fit much underneath it.I've now done a couple of rucks with this jacket. It's perfect in the rain over my base layers. This combo keeps me warm and dry. As an added bonus, the jacket is also excellent at blocking wind. I love it! Thanks Sun & Ski
