Paul Mitchell - The Conditioner, 300ml

I accidentally purchased this leave in conditioner, which I would not normally have bought because my hair gets very greasy and I need a rinse out conditioner. But, I figured I would give it a try. Unfortunately, I cannot make a review on how well the product worked, because I could not actually do any hairstyling with the leaving product. When I deposited the blue conditioner onto my hand and started to apply to my hair, the only thing that I could think about was how awful it smelled. And I mean, it smelled awful. I am talking public gas station bathroom where there is a strong smell of old dry pee all over the floor and you can tell someone tried to half clean it up with something vaguely perfume smelling. Is the scent not the most pleasant thing in the world? Sure. But my hair loves this conditioner. I'm so glad I went out on a limb and got the liter size because my hair absorbs this stuff like a sponge. Some conditioners I have to leave on in the shower for 5-10 minutes to feel like they are actually doing their job, but not this one! Couple minutes does the trick. A lot of the time I don't even have to bother with my detangling product afterwards because this stuff leaves my hair easy to brush through, and I have a lot of it! Would buy again and recommend it to anyone wanting a great moisturizing conditioner without breaking the bank!

Been using this for years to tame my curls!

I have used Paul Mitchell The Conditioner for many years on my thin, frizzy, color-treated, curly hair. As soon as I get out of the shower, I comb through my hair and wrap a towel around to soak up extra water, then I comb my hair one last time and use The Conditioner. I rub small amounts at a time around in my hand, then work my fingers through my hair like combs, evenly distributing the conditioner. I follow this up by finger-scrunching my hair and twisting some hairs around into ringlets. After my hair air dries, it is soft, smooth and curly! The Conditioner is an excellent detangler and adds just enough weight to my hair to keep it from frizzing out like a pompom! Best conditioner out there

My husband has wavy hair. Mine is straight and fine. We both use it. It doesn't take much for our short hair, about the size of a dime in our palm. Rub hands together and then apply to hair. Leaves just the right amount of conditioning, without making it oily or heavy. He lets his hair dry naturally; I use a dryer. Works great both ways.

Damaging

Got this after reading promising reviews. tried it 3 times and thought it was horrible. besides the bad chemicals in it (calling you out DMDM amongst others) it made my hair dryer with each use. actually made my hair break and did not smooth said broken hair/flyaways down which is what I originally needed it for in the first place. i threw it away as it was damaging. Maybe this is a knock off or it used to be good in the past, but now I would not recommend it to anyone.

Love this stuff

I've been using this leave-in for almost 10 years (since my mid-20's) and I absolutely love it. I have long hair that comes down to about the small of my back, and although I have a lot of it it's pretty fine. Before using this leave in I used to know it was time for a hair cut because of the amount of split ends I had - my hair was like an indicator toothbrush; the bottom 2 inches would air-dry immediately after a shower and get weirdly fluffy because it was so split/dry. In the Canadian winter I would have a halo of constantly waving hair stands because of the dry air and static electricity, brushing it was a battle. No more static, brushing is ridiculously simple, and when I get into the hair dressers about once every 6 moths they're constantly surprised at how healthy my hair is (in particular because of how long it is and the almost complete lack of split ends). For as long as I can find it I will keep using this stuff. The extra bonus, which is also a major factor in my books, is that it's not scented. Especially relevant given the amount I have to use due to how much hair I have. I can use it without worrying that I'm going to smell like chemicals, flowers or baked goods. Because it has no scent it doesn't clash with all of the other things on my body that do (scent left over from shampoo as well as deodorant). In a nutshell, I do not "waft" from place to place and for that I am so thankful! Highly recommend this product to all.

Other than the smell, I really like it

I have naturally straight, thick hair. It doesn't weigh my hair down! It feels like lotion in your hands but my hair does not feel sticky or heavy after applying. Noticeably reduces that "static" look My hair does feel very soft with it It does have a blue color to it but I haven't seen it have any affect on my hair appearance. It smells weird though. I don't like the scent at all but it's a pretty big bottle and I like what it's doing for my hair so I'll keep using it. (The smell isn't as strong after applying it)

Paul Mitchell - The Conditioner

I have used Paul Mitchell - The Original Conditioner for at least 9 years and have never even considered changing to another conditioner. I always apply to wet hair and leave to dry when my hair becomes stiff until I brush it out, when it is left silky and shiney. Sometimes when my hair dries stiff and time allows, I delay brushing my hair out as this helps to set my hair to the style I require, to avoid having to blow-dry. This conditioner was used and recommended by my hairdresser who also uses it in her salon, as she can use the conditioner as a hand cream. The 500ml Conditioner lasts for many months as only a small blob on your hand is required to smooth over your hair, not to rub into your scalp.

This conditions hair as it's namesake suggests however this is not a rinse out conditioner. It's a leave in conditioner that really hydrates and softens/detangles hair! I use it as a leave in conditioner after washing, and as a curl/style refresher. I will apply it straight out of the bottle to condition my hair and I use it in a mister with distilled water as a refresher. It has the appearance of a gel, but when you rub it in, it has slip and is thicker than expected. Its like a emulsified hair gel cream as far as consistency that spreads easily on my hair and just melts. If applied heavily this can be sticky and dries leaving flakes or residue/white-ish cast - leaving the hair looking dull. This has slip but its not really emollient. Although I think that most, if not all hair types, can find some use for this, I do think it is GREAT if you have fine/limp hair. I know its a stretch for ethnic beauties to believe me especially when this product line is heavily aimed towards the non-ethnic market. For thicker, porous and/or more textured hair types, I recommend sealing this with an oil, cream or butter in order to lock in that moisture. I personally seal it with a butter, pudding or cream if I have time but I have worn it by itself. Even though, its not emoillent because its contains no oils, waxes or butters - it does leave a buttery/slippery texture to the hair that I suspect is from the glycerin content and pH balancing qualities which smoothes the hair strand. I just find that the moisture lasts longer when sealed and can offset any potential dullness when used excessively or over time. Ive used it alone for twist outs, paired up with a gel for a wash and go( didnt pill). Its really multi purpose. The smell is really a spa-like signature scent. Has a unisex cologne scent that is refreshing but not off-putting. Definitely synthetic but pleasant. It contains no protein nor any thermal protection qualities. so its just a general fuss-free conditioner.

Why did I spend 30 years without this!!!?

I have thick strand, wavy, red, frizzy coarse hair.. and a lot of it. So it's basically dry feeling all the time. It often just shatters at the ends despite my best efforts and avoiding heat. This leave in, along with the Awapuhi has literally changed my hair. It's soft and manageable and sooooooooo healthy! My hairdresser asked if I'd gone somewhere else for a haircut between appointments because my ends looked so good. The length I gained was shocking(no more breakage, doesn't actually increase growth) I think the trick to avoid greasiness is to use a SMALL amount. My length is about mid shoulder, and thick.. I use slightly more than nickel size amount and rub it between my hands to emulsify until it turns white and looks like lotion. Apply a very quick small swipe to my crown/bangs where my frizz goes wild then work the rest through the length. My only complaint is the smell. It's not really pleasant, not bad. It reminds me of old men's aftershave smell or some sort of beauty products my grandmas used. Thankfully it fades very quickly and I never notice it during the day. Wish it smelled like the awapuhi!!
