This Peak Sling 10L is definitely an upgrade from my Kata 3n1 sling. The walls are thinner but more rigid/stiff and "formed". This means the bag feels smaller and lighter (less bulky) carrying the same gear, but still provides adequate protection with denser padding. Because the pockets, compartments, and dividers are more formed, and less spongy and soft, it's easier to take gear out and put it back. The shoulder strap is comfortable, but I can't convert the Peak sling to backpack for long hikes like the Kata can. BUT, the slide mechanism makes up for this. With a flick of the latch the strap can be lengthened for easy access hanging in front of you. When you pull it back snug and lock it, the bag hugs the small of your back, instead of bumping on your butt. Very ... MoreThis Peak Sling 10L is definitely an upgrade from my Kata 3n1 sling. When you pull it back snug and lock it, the bag hugs the small of your back, instead of bumping on your butt. Very nice! The appearance gives the impression that the bag opens like a typical messenger bag. But it has a main zippered compartment which is accessed from the top. A second, expandable pocket on the front is also accessed from the top via a zipper. The straps you see on the bag serve the function of compressing this secondary compartment to keep your filters or other gear from rattling around. The inside of both of these compartments have lots of handy, smaller pockets for holding cables, memory cards, and other accessories. It's no small benefit, as far as I'm concerned, that my accessories are held firmly in place and not jumbling around against each other in a larger, looser pocket. Here's what I carry: A Sony A7 III, EOS-to-FE AF adapter, EF 70-300mm f/4L IS, EF 16-35mm f/4L, EF 50mm f/1.4, Rokinon 12mm f/2.8, 2 lens hoods, 10-stop neutral density, circular polarizer, close-up filters, infrared 830nm filter, charging cable and charger, cleaning cloths and brush, extra memory cards... (Yes I recently jumped the Canon ship for Sony, but I'm still using my old Canon lenses. )I love the material and appearance. Looks very nice, and they obviously put some serious thought into the both function and fashion.

I guess it's a bit of extra peace of mind, but it was a bit fiddly.Cons:A bit worried for the front pouch. I think using the zipper will, over time, wear the fabric fold around it. That, and the zipper pouch is too small and tight when the bag is filled up. Not sure what I would put in there. It's a smaller bag, so it becomes a bit fiddly (read: takes time, patience, problem-solving) when you are trying to optimise the flexifold dividers so the bag can contain everything you want to bring. Trade-offs, I know.Tried Bum-bag configuration maybe once? It's just a bit too fiddly for me.Carried:Fujifilm X-T20, 18-55mm kit lens, 27mm pancake lens, rocket air blower, Tascam DR-05 voice recorder, travel documents, extra batteries, the tiny Manfrotto tripod, bracket/adapterto hold mobile phone on tripod.

Simply amazing.Snug to you body so you can be active with it on.Easy access, just slide it to the front.Great space effiency, walls can unfold in to shelves, and the walls themselves are easily adjusted with velcros.Very durable and weather resistant (didn't risk in heavy downpour though).Only con to me is that the back side of the sling isn't a breathable material, so your back is bound to sweat. Whole outer shell is made from same weather resistant material.Otherwise this is my go-to camera bag when I'm out on the move.

Andys Peak Design Camera Bag.
4 September 2022

Researched the Peak Design Bags before buying this bag, could not find a bad review. Bag arrived it looked as if it was brand new, looked as if it had never been use. This Sling bag is just what I needed for a day out with my camera a couple of extra lenses and plenty of room for my bits and pieces. Very pleased with this bag would recommend to anyone thinking of buying a Peak Design Bag just great bag. Thank you.

Good day bag and small travel bag for not just cameras.
9 June 2019

This bag works wonderful as day bag for work with my lunch, fruit and one compact camera and Sony a6500 with small lens attached.Recently, I took this bag with me to a trip as my carry around bag. I was able to fit in a waterproof compact camera, my Sony a6500 with 4 lens (Sony 18-105mm, Sony 35mm, Sony 20mm, and lowa 9mm), batteries, flashlight, first aid kit, 2 water bottles, and some pen and small things, my kid's toy car, and a small tripod that I attach to the side of the bag. Overall I have to say it does the job well and it is not too big to carry around going from place to places. And the weather seal works well on the beach and in the rain (no sand and water gets in).The down side is that I have to wear it on one shoulder all the time. Good for what it is
30 September 2021

This is the first-gen everyday sling so it has some quirks that were removed in V.2. The size is decent. I carry a mirrorless with a 14-24 and a 24-70f4 and still have a decent amount of extra room but the bag is a bit awkward off the body as it can't sit level on a surface and tends to tip backward. Additionally, as the shoulder pad doesn't move if you hike it up too far on your back (think hiking) the pad is barely on your shoulder. That said the divider system is spectacular, items are well protected and the form factor is perfect for keeping a low profile. Quality as always from PD is excellent and while pretty low-key it's a beautiful bag. Great for a light loadout, hiking around or urban/street photography.

Great bag for day hikes in rough terrain
16 August 2019

I bought this bag hoping for a solution to hiking with a camera through rough, rocky terrain where a regular camera strap or sling strap would allow the camera to bang against me or the environment and using a regular backpack would be too slow/cumbersome. My first hike in Petit Jean State Park just happened to be on a rainy day and the bag performed as I hoped, keeping the camera dry and safe on my back until I needed it and then making it easy to swing the bag around, extract the camera, make the shot, replace the camera and then proceed on my hike. The bag is not as comfortable on the shoulders as a regular backpack after several hours, but the ease of use for a minimal kit more than compensates. And the contents of the bag stayed dry after and hour of hiking in ... MoreI bought this bag hoping for a solution to hiking with a camera through rough, rocky terrain where a regular camera strap or sling strap would allow the camera to bang against me or the environment and using a regular backpack would be too slow/cumbersome. Smaller than I anticipated but I think it will suit my needs. I know I can look at the specs and do but generally I need to actually look at the bag before I can decide if it works for me. Wanted this for a full size DSLR and 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I think this will fit. Tried it tonight with a camera with a battery grip and that won't work. The 70-200 fits fine so if I have to can detach the camera and lens but I think a camera without the grip will be fine. The grip makes it too large to fit in the bottom of the sling. Probably be able to put a 16-35 mm F/4 in also. Think this will be great for small hikes when I want minimum gear which is why I purchased. I like the sling design. Bought the 5L version as well but haven't received it yet. I think it will be too ... MoreSmaller than I anticipated but I think it will suit my needs. Protection in a sleek package!
8 May 2018

There are plenty of reviews for this bag online, but they all don't really talk about the one area I was most concerned about: protection! I am happy to report that this bag has a pretty rigid structure with padding on the bottom, sides, front and top. Each of these areas seems like was spruced up with an extra piece of dense padding. I'm not sure it will survive a huge drop and not damage anything, but I can place my bag on the ground and move it around with confidence. Also, the inner zipper on the compartment tucks into a flap to prevent scratching the gear inside! I'm usually hard to please with bags (and in general), but I've been very happy with this sleek bag. It also seems like very durable materials and construction, but I've only had it for a few weeks now. Get it! I think actually having it in hand will convince you.

Very Useful Bag
27 October 2021

This bag works well for it's sling design. I wanted something I could easily carry without feeling too heavy. I can fit a Canon 7Dii with 100-400 attached and a Canon RP with small lens. It's a tight fit, though. I love the way the straps work, and how they adjust when you are slinging it forward and back. The materials seem tough and well made. My only complaint is that it is a little stiff, and when packed with the cameras, the other pockets are hard to access because of the stiffness of the fabrics. Hopefully after using it a few times, I will break it in and will give a little more.
