Pedigree Dentastix Small Dog 7 Pack

My Springer Spaniels love these sticks which they get before they settle down for the night. One of my Spaniels spins around with excitement once she sees or hears me putting my hand into the box. They have better teeth for using the product but still have tartar build up regardless. I give the sticks more as a treat than for the intended purpose. Price fluctuates over the range and sizes of this product so shop wisely.

This product is the genuine article. No artificial colouring, flavouring or preservative therefore it is healthy for dogs. When the packet is opened the aroma is very strong and pleasant as it should be. My dog proves to me that this is the product he wants above all others. Never any waste, no prompting bringing me the packet when I ask him to He is 7 years old on 1st July 2016 and has received numerous compliments about his condition even to his age, mistaking him for a pup or 2 year old. My purrball loves these pedigree treats and I know his teeth are perfectly healthy and no tartar at all. I gave him once a day and he knows when it's time for his treats. My only complaint was that the treats dried fast when you opened the packaging so I suggest you close it tight as it will get hardened if you leave it open for a period of time. It's not good for the dog too when it's hard to chew but other than that he loves it and I still recommend it to your purrbaby!

Don?t recommend. Pup had all day vet observation

My 5 month old pup vomited bile non-stop all night and had to go to the vet in the morning. Gave me a big scare. I checked the age recommendation and ingredients prior to purchasing but it still upset his little tummy. I?ve since checked the reviews online and wish I had checked beforehand, seems like my pup had a mild reaction compared to others. They must have changed their ingredients because my old dog (who had tummy sensitivities and intolerances) loved dentastix's. Overall, I would definitely not use this product again!

Fantastic value for money

These chews are essential to having a dog with great teeth that never need you or the vet to clean. We have a 15yr old springer spaniel and he has had one of these every day without fail and so far he has got lovely white teeth and NO bad breath, (I hate bad dog breath). We now have a 1yr old cocker spaniel who also has half of one every day because we have the confidence in this product to do the same for his teeth and breath. Now obviously this can be quite a cost over the year but we always look for the deals and this was a fantastic deal, we will definitely be buying more and highly recommend you do too!

Good value treat

I have four small dogs and I am always looking for bargains for them. They like these and at the price I just had to get a box. I get the large ones and then I cut them in half with my chop saw. That makes them even better value as you get the heaver weight at a discounted price. Sometimes its the other way around so keep looking. My dogs like the flavour as they always come back for more, as if they realise they are only getting half a stick!! They are only small dogs and are fussy eaters so its nice to find something they like. They don`t last long and with small dogs you need to watch them, as they can become a choaking hazard when they get to the last small piece. Great Product and Value for money.

My dog loves these chewy sticks and they have helped to eliminate severe tartar build up along with homeopathic Fragrance 6. These are a daily must have for our dog. He eagerly awaits this morning treat and the positive change in tartar/plaque removal along with better smelling breath is amazing. We feed our dog a complete raw pre-ground food so it is essential to have a system in place to combat plaque/tartar. Being a finicky little fella, he doesn't like other natural teeth cleaning products and doesn't do well with chewing raw bone properly. So this is our best and safest alternative.

My dogs love them

I was offered these as a free gift. In the past my dogs have turned their noses up at dental chews but they love these - I have given 4 stars rather than 5 for two reasons. First, I generally prefer to give them treats with a higher % of 'natural' ingredients; second, I asked my vet for her opinion and she said their dental advantages are limited and also they do add calories so need to reduce something else from their daily intake (especially for small, elderly, greedy dogs!) In fact there is a 3rd disadvantage - they are going to increase my monthly spend on dog treats!

Not the healthy treat they are described as

The description of these seems designed to make the dog owner believe they are buying a healthy chew for their pet. However, they are packed full of cereals, which can be problematic for some dogs, and are far from a healthy addition to any dog food. These are definitely at the cheap end of the market. Great if you and your dog are already enjoying them, but I question how much impact they can really have on the formation of plaque. I prefer to use something designed by and for dog enthusiasts such as the A-OK9 Plaque.

She's Not a Fan

Unfortunately my dog refuses to even try these - she just sniffs them and walks off. I tried her encouraging her to try them on various occasions but even if I leave them by her food bowl for the day, she will leave them. It is disappointing because I know Dentastix clean a dog's teeth and she could certainly do with them. Even my last two dogs were the same with Dentastix ? they ate them for a year or so and then went completely off them. Meanwhile I have the bag of Dentastix to my next door neighbour and her dog gobbled them right up!
