The most eminent architects came here to erect a magnificent city with the best theaters, greenhouses, and taverns. Each architect wants to make the most significant contribution to the city construction, but their ambitions will inevitably lead to a challenging competition. In Architectura, your table turns into a grid of city streets and blocks. Each building you construct affects the value of the adjacent buildings, or even destroys them! Let's say you've just built a magnificent temple. A vulgar market around the corner doesn't belong there anymore and has to be shut down right away — but a park near the temple's entrance will definitely be a good match and will even profit from the divine proximity. Rotate the cards to change their values, resolve their special effects, and do your best to carefully manage your options to become the best architect of the city! Play Architectura by the basic rules or the advanced rules in which you assemble a unique deck for each player. Whichever version you play, each game will be different!

Wood, cloth, grain, and stone? Really? Another game of resource conversion? NO! It's so much more -- after 2-3 games you will be thinking deeply about your next 2, 3, or even 4 moves as you try to outmaneuver your opponents in taking your resources to four city locations and grab valuable points before anyone else. Scales very well at any count.

Fantastic game, wonderful components and artwork. It all seems to be over a bit too soon though, why can't I have one more turn to satisfy the citizens of Emara???

Great Euro that doesn't disappoint. Easy gameplay with tough choices and a dual rondel. Gameplay length is very short but engaging. The included solo keeps you playing even when no one is around.

Short, Sweet, Simple but Complex
21 February 2022

My wife and I have played this game twice now, and we're very impressed. It's a fairly simple game that's also deceptively complex. On your turn, you play a card that gives you a resource, a discount on a bonus action, an extra action or movement, or other bonuses. You place the card into a movement slot that tells you how many spaces you MUST move one of your two workers around their respective rondels, activating the space they land on. You can activate the card effect, the movement, and one each of three bonus actions on your turn in any order. The result is a game with relatively simple decisions but a lot of problem space to explore. The designers were wise in limiting you to only three cards to puzzle over at a time. The goal of the game is to get the highest ... MoreMy wife and I have played this game twice now, and we're very impressed. The goal of the game is to get the highest score possible in each of two point trackers, Population and Building Points, as you only score the lower of the two.Crown of Emara is highly replayable due to three main elements:1) Variable setup: While the starting locations of players offers minimal variety, the starting position of players' Building Points tokens can influence how players emphasize resource gathering throughout the game.2) There's a large selection of Advisor cards, granting players special abilities and large point bonuses. These are placed randomly out on one rondel at the start of the game.3) Because you only get 3 cards per round (of 9 in your deck), and what you get from playing them affects your opportunities on both rondels, optimizing your strategy is going to require care and attention in each game. This adds an element of tactics to an otherwise straightforward strategic endeavor. My one complaint is that the game feels like it ends right as it gets started--which is admittedly a common problem with Euro games. Hopefully more plays and improved efficiency will diminish this feeling. Regardless, this isn't a deal-breaker, and I expect to pull Crown of Emara out for many more game nights.

Very good euro game, simple to teach and take less than an hour per session, even stretch its not going to exceed 1.5 hours gameplay. Highly recommended
