I've had the original 1510 with foam inserts and a lid organizer for around 12 years, still going strong. But with some airlines it can be way overweight. I saved about 1 to 1.5kg switching cases and I now tear out the lid organizer ( velcroed in) when I fly and put back in the foam for the lid, this saves another 1 kg. Still overweight but less so and easily to throw in an overhead bin. Really like the trekpak , would like to see a bit denser foam in the base lining though. Very glad they have brought back the top handle on the newer versions.

I've been using this Pelican case for a few months now and have found it indispensable. I purchased this case to solve a few problems. One was to get all of this gear off my back, and two, my job requires me to shoot on location in numerous environments and attend numerous trade shows every year.I decided that I needed something I could roll around all day, put in an aeroplane overhead bin, and catch public transport with. It's certainly not meant to replace a full studio setup, or a large scale location shoot. The case is incredibly rigid! You can easily stand or sit on it while it is upright, but depending on what your store inside I would be cautious sitting in the middle of the largest panel (where the text and stickers are). The latches and handles are ... MoreI've been using this Pelican case for a few months now and have found it indispensable. You can easily stand or sit on it while it is upright, but depending on what your store inside I would be cautious sitting in the middle of the largest panel (where the text and stickers are). The latches and handles are extremely strong and feel nice in the hands. The telescoping handle for walking with the case is good, but for a tall person like me, it sometimes hits me in the back of my heels at the handle isn't long enough for my height. Also the wheelbase is rather narrow, so hitting a bump, or putting too much inertia into the case and cause it roll onto one wheel or just flip over.I chose TrekPak Divider Insert system because I had a very specific layout mind, and wanted the ability to modify it down the road should my shooting needs change. So that ruled the Pick-N-Pluck foam out. I probably could have gone with the padded dividers but ultimately liked how clean the TrekPak system looked. The TrekPak system is easy to install, but be sure to read the instructions, measure more than once before cutting, and mock your layout up before even starting. On a side note, I usually store my Canon EF 70-200mm L in the bottom left slot where the strap is pictured. But didn't need it on the last job, so I didn't have it there, but it fits perfectly. In the pictures I supplied, you'll also notice that I added Pelican 1519 Photographer's Lid Organizer for Pelican 1510 Case. I chose this because I have a lot of small accessories to keep organized and tools that I didn't want to carry around. So this was an easy add on. It's pretty low quality and nowhere near Pelican's level of quality, but it's held up well so far. I added my own paracord pulls as the zipper pulls are hard to see sometimes, and are small too.TL;DRPros:- Incredibly rigid and lightweight- Machined/molded to high tolerances- TrekPak Divider System is easy to install- Piece of mind for gear insideCons:- Telescoping handle is too short for me (6'3)- Wheelbase is narrow and case can rock off balance- Pelican doesn't make their own lid organizer like the one I have for this model at the time of writing

Come rainy season in the PNW, I decided to upgrade my summer backpack for my camera and gear, and landed on this case after perusing many options. I knew I couldn't go wrong with Pelican, and I did pick a winner. The case is durable, waterproof, and easy to transport. Depending on the ground/flooring, the wheels aren't too loud, either. Heavy duty handles, and the latches are great. There's enough height on the inside to comfortably stand up a 24-105mm Canon lens, and it's long enough to hold my Peak Design travel tripod. If you pack it well without barriers/padding in the case, your gear doesn't even move around much. I've been waiting to cut my inserts, until I decide which arrangement I want, as those are a measure twice, cut once kind of product. I will definitely be buying this case again to carry additional gear. I can't wait to fly with it!

Pros:Weight - much lighter than the non-air version which matters a lot when you are using it as airline carry-onCarry-on - perfect size for carry-on. I have had no issues on any airline so far and I travel extensively for my work.Protection - pelican cases are solid and this is no exception. I keep my Red and lenses inside and no issues so far.Cons:Wheel bearings - I have had two sets of wheel bearings rust out so far. I use the case on boats so I am sure it is a salt water corrosion issue. I'm fine with that, saltwater is nasty, but the design makes it very hard to remove the wheels (especially once rusted). Pelican have supplied replacements FOC both times.Handle - the first case I bought had no top handle. The recent case I bought has a second handle on the top which is much superior.
TrekPak cutting was fairly easy. Everything is very organized and looks good. If you are drastically changing contents, you will have to add or remove additionally pieces if the size of your equipment is different. For example, I have 2 Mavic 2 Pros and several batteries - if I change to my Sony cameras, I have to expand and swap out different pieces of TrekPak to accommodate the larger gear. Therefore it is necessary to keep those extra pieces in there. If your equipment changes again, you may need to create new pieces of foam. Therefore, padded dividers are the best option for those who have different sizes of equipment.
I bought this case with the TrekPak divider inserts to hold the Z9 and the 14-24, 24-70, and 105 S lenses. The insert system is easy to customize. Just be sure to measure and lay out your gear before you start making cuts. Also note that the above lenses will not fit front to back and need to be placed on their sides, using up a bit more space. The base insert and dividers are firm so I added some softer foam to better profile the shapes of the camera with lens attached and also to prevent everything from bouncing around. I had space left over for the 24-200 lens front to back, speedlight, camranger, batteries, and filters.Fit and finish is excellent consistent with Pelican quality. I purchased a Pelican Air 1535 Case with Trek Pak dividersfrom B&H Photo and loved it so much I purchased another one a few months later. If you're reading this review, chances are you're looking to purchase the same case or its older sibling, the similarlysized Pelican 1510. I have no experience with the Pelican 1510, but I'm happy to tell you why I chose the Pelican Air 1535 instead.Briefly,The 1535 case is approximately 30% lighter than the 1510 case. The 1535 case is advertised to be compatible with overhead bin storage in commercial airlines. The 1535 case has upgraded latches which reviewers seem to favor. The main drawback to the Pelican Air 1535 is that it has slightly less internal volume than the Pelican 1510, as a tradeoff for its lighter ... MoreI purchased a Pelican Air 1535 Case with Trek Pak dividersfrom B&H Photo and loved it so much I purchased another one a few months later. This wasn't an issue with me. I was happy to have cases that could fly with me in the airline cabin. The cases themselves arrived in perfect condition and eachfunctions flawlessly.Pelican cases are not cheap and I'm not wealthy, but I've always had a 'Buy Nice or Buy Twice' philosophy for any tool or piece ofequipment I must rely on to perform. I researched 'imitation' Pelican cases and the negative reviews speak for themselves. You get what you pay for, and Pelican Cases are in a class way above their competitors. There were three internal options available for both the Pelican Air 1535 case and the Pelican 1510 case when I placed my order: The Pick-N-Pluck Foam Insert, The Padded Dividers, and the Trek Pak Dividers. The least expensive option was the Pick-N-Pluck Foam and the most expensive was the Trek Pak Dividers (which I chose.)Pick-N-Pluck Foam:I used this for telescope gear 25 years ago. It looks great when brand new, but it soon wears out, sheds foam particles, and eventually sags offering very little support. It seems like a great idea for customizing a case but all too soon it becomes a sorry-looking mess that most people will regret purchasing (My opinion.)Padded Dividers:The thick padded dividers offer the best protection but at the expense of storage space. (You mustweigh your own tolerance level.) This was not a viable option for me as I had too much equipment. I've used similar dividers in the past and I assume these attach with Velcro or similar methods. If true, theVelcro eventually wears out and no longer holds well. Also, the fabric covering the internal foam panels wears thin at the contact areas.Trek Pak Dividers:The Trek Pak Dividers are black Coroplast panels covered on both sides by dense black foam. They are held together with black enameled pins which fit into the small holes in the panels. A special tool is included that easily and accurately cuts the panels to the size you require to 'cubby-hole' your equipment. The advantages offered by Trek Pak dividers are greater flexibility and greater use of your available storage space. Because the panels are thin, you can storemore items in your case. If you add more equipment, you can make a new layout, and build a brand-new interior for your case. It also yields the most 'professional look' of the three options. There is one big caveat, however:You BARELY GET ENOUGH TREK PAK PANELS WITH YOUR CASE!One mistake, and you've likely blown it. The old saying, 'measure twice, cut once', definitely applies here. Replacement Trek Pak panels are not sold individually, Currently, they are only sold as part of anentire kit that includes items you may never need, such as the top and bottom foam panels and sidewalls. As I writethis review, the price for that kit is $153.95MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE, AND DON'T MAKE EVEN ONE MISTAKE!After all that, I absolutely LOVE the Trek Pack Dividers! They are by far the best case-organizing system I've ever used, and I love the look of professionalism they present when my case opens up in public.
In the past I usually went with the cheaper Harbor Freight cases, but went for the genuine Pelican for my recent kit. I can only say good things about the 1535 air. I think the most noteworthy is the weight and size for travel. I do wish that the foam had two levels of height for shorter items, but I was able to cut some foam to work as needed. So far the foam is holding up and not flaking or shedding. If you are looking to save money with a knock off...don't.
The peican 1535 air with TREK pack is a great hard case for mirrorless camera and lenses. B&H shipped it fast and I received in time to take to Yellowstone. Case is large enough for (2) canon R5, 100-500mm lens, 800MM f/11 lens, batteries, cleaning kits and straps. The only issue was it is about 2 deeper then the 1525 air that I have and this made a lot of vertical space between the cameras and the top foam. Purchased some soft foam to place in the bottom to bring the cameras up.
This is my 2nd 1535Air case with TrekPak. One of my only concerns about the first one was a lack of a top handle which leaves you grabbing the handle that slides out which isn't secure enough for lifting the case that way. Well, Pelican must be monitoring my thoughts because they added a top handle, which is small and unobtrusive, but still feels robust.Getting this case with the TrekPak is a must. These cases are all about maximizing space and you just can't fit as much in with the regular dividers.
