The case is great as you can expect from Pelican products. I really like that the lid stays open at a certain angle which is good when you set the case on a bench or table that is not big enough. Unfortunately it cannot hold a nameplate on it which is why I bought it to begin with. I called Pelican customer service before ordering the case and they swore to me that I will be able to put a custom nameplate on it. So back it went to B&H, sorry B&H, not your fault but Pelican's.

The 1620 case is the quality that I would expect from Pelican, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the padded divers for this case. I have a 1610 with padded dividers, and it seems like those have many more configuration options than the dividers for the 1620. There isn't a single divider that spans the width of the case (the ones for the 1620 came with at least two) and the bottom of the divider shell is only set up for Velcro attachments in select areas (the bottom of the 1610 dividers could have the Velcro attachments applied anywhere). I've Frankensteined the dividers to allow for what I'm planning on primarily storing in this (a Nauticam Canon R3 housing), but it's not nearly as nice a fit as the 1610 dividers allow for.

Pelican makes a great product. It's solid, heavier than you'd think for It's size, and in fine shape. There's no need to worry about my gear with these cases. It's strong and lives up to the Pelican reputation. Luckily the wheels help lighten the load. I always pay more than I would for other brands for a reason. I appreciate the foam being reinserted very much.

I had a hard time choosing a camera case that would fit all of my equipment that I could work out of. Every time I looked around, I always came back to this one. It was the best decision for me as a wedding photographer to buy this case. Sure it's heavy, but it has wheels and can go most anywhere. If I find myself somewhere that does not have a way to get my case into where I am going, I take other camera bags with me and just grab what I need and leave this in my car. I am able to fit what I need for the day in the case, multiple bodies, lenses, flashes, batteries and everything else you could imagine. I did add the lid organizer to my case to further customize it. I did add the lid organizer to my case to further customize it. I organized the dividers to accommodate several cameras with the lenses attached to be able to grab and shoot. This case is sturdy. You can reorganize your dividers any time you want to make a change to your case. I would buy this again and recommend to anyone considering a case that will fit a good amount of camera equipment. One of the reasons I chose this bag was because it was waterproof and even though there are many other rolling cases out there, this one provided the most protection.
I finally decided to plop down the cash for a Pelican 1700 Case. Found the Best deal here at Tactical Surplus USA & Purchased one in Tan.The price is high but it's worth Every Penny & The Shipping was actually FAST which was Greatly Appreciated!!! All in all, I'd buy again.
I bought a used Pelican 1700 gun case and am very pleased with it. Although the case came with closed cell foam and Velcro tie-down straps, I decided to replace it with new foam, so that I could cut it to fit my weapon and equipment. The case's condition showed some normal signs of wear it is fully functional. Although the paint marker writing of a soldier's name and unit would buff right out, I think I'll keep it as it only adds character. Buying a used Pelican case was a great alternative to buying a new one, which is expensive, or buying less-expensive cases that can't hold up to the same kind of rough handling.
I have not used the (now Pelican made) Storm cases yet, but I have used several other types of rigid cases. Pelican products are the best I have seen. The fit and finish is second to none, they are extremely durable, and if you ever need to get new foam it is readily available. I really can't say enough positive about these cases. As for the 1700, it is the perfect size for an M4 style rifle with optics mounted. It has all the space you need and not too much extra. I have two desiccant packs, a grip-pod, and four magazines (plus one in the mag well) all in the case. The foam is very easy to cut with a hot knife, jig saw fitted with a soft material blade, or an electric carving knife. And B&H Photo has the best prices on them as well.
This is my second 1624 case. I got this one to store and transport all of my small lighting gear (multiple speedlights, Qflashes, batteries, chargers, cables, light meter, and many different modifiers for small flashes). My other one houses my cameras and lenses. You can't beat Pelican cases with dividers for flexible protection, storage, and transporting gear. They are virtually indestructible. This is my fourth Pelican case (including two smaller versions). I'm partial to the dividers, rather than foam inserts. They are much more durable and movable; I find the foam inserts eventually break down with years of usage, pulling out and replacing gear.
Used for transporting music equipment on airplanes - I can finally check my valuable and fragile effects unites and microphones. This case is a great size and weight, love the wheels and handles. It is easy to carry and fit in cars / taxis / etc.A few cons:- when pulling this case using the wheels, it tends to wobble back and forth a bit - the wheels are a little too close together for ideal balance. The 1720 case doesn't have this problem.- the wheel wells cut into the usable interior space - I had to order a 1720 for the keyboard I was planning to put in this because with the wheel wells, it didn't keep 1 inch of padding all around the edges :(- the latches can be a bit tricky to close - you have to make sure the top and bottom are perfectly aligned
This case is made of extremely durable materials with good engineering-strong latches, good hinges, sturdy handles, etc. From appearances, it should last many years. The lid organizer is a great bonus if you are carrying a laptop for live streaming, etc. The pick-and-pluck foam is not difficult to configure and can be replaced if you need to organize differently in the future. You can order a custom name plate for from Pelican (for a few dollars). It would be nice if they allowed more than two lines of large font info on it. That's my only suggestion for improvement.
