Just got my M200 Pelikan. It was packed well and loved the special edition box. Inked it and it writes smooth. Knowing what I was dealing with I had ordered a medium bib and its smooth and wires great. The ink - smoky quartz is absolutely fabulous !!! I had done my research before choosing the right size (medium for mine) and that worked well for me.My suggestion for folks would be that; if you know what nib you want in this brand - then go ahead and order it. Don’t guess and order it based on your past experience with another fountain pen brand. Try it out at a local store and once know what nib works for you then you can order it here

Ink is beautiful, pen is beautiful. The rest is horrible.The rest is quite a different matter. Now, I'm new and I'm giving it a benefit of the doubt, but for some weirdest reason when I write, quite often, the first stroke of a letter is skipped (I write in cursive, so it is usually first stroke of a first letter of every second or third word).I have three other pens (Pilot Metropolitan (M nib) and two FPR Himalayas (M nib & Flex nib)) and none of them does that, so the chance that the culprit is my style of writing or my grip or whatever is quite slim.Pressing a bit harder on the pen helps (although not 100%) with the problem, but at the same time makes my hand cramp much faster than normal writing.Edit: No change after several pages of writing. I'm not changing this review score though, because (I know I'm repeating myself) when you pay upwards of $100 for a plastic pen with stainless steel nib you should expect a quality product and support or at least a show of care from manufacturer. Pelikan just doesn't deliver. There are companies out there that do and for a much cheaper products, look at FPR for example.

First , let me say the pen looks even better in person! Unfortunately I didn't do my research and didn't realize how small the pen is. This is more personal preference than actual fault of the pen. The biggest issue is that the pen isn't the most reliable. It seems to be harder starter, but seemed to write better after a second ink refill. But my TWSBI Eco-T and various Lamy Safari's all write better out of the box than the M200, which was disappointing. Not sure if the pen needs to be tuned first to achieve proper performance or just defective. Once it starts righting everything is okay in my opinion.

I am very disappointed in this pen. I have several Pelikans and they are all wonderful. This one is not. The nib is constantly skipping on down strokes and is thus very hard to write with. I have "flossed" it with brass sheets and tried other things. Nothing seems to fix it. Beautiful pen, but not usable in it's present condition. I contacted Pelikan and was told it does not qualify for service since Massdrop is not an authorized dealer. I contacted Massdrop and was told it was beyond the 30 days that would qualify for a return (I foolishly had hoped using it for a few weeks I might be able to get it working). I won't purchase another Pelikan from Massdrop.
Very beautiful dark brown translucent pen.It was packaged in a white box with the 50 ml Smoky Quartz ink bottle.I didn't find any paperwork included, but at $50 off typical retail price I can live with it.I've yet to ink it up, but I suspect it will be fine. If not , a little tuning should help. It is a small pen but posted the length is fine for a man’s hand, though a little slim.Having this pen is leading me to buy either an M600 or even larger M800. I really want to try the solid gold nib of the more expensive Pelikans. Overall, I think a good buy
Beautiful pen. Wrote right out of the box--extremely smooth nib. Medium nib writes on the broad side--which I like. Filled it with Pilot Iroshizuku Take-Sumi--and ink flows wet and smooth. Perfect pen if one likes a bit of a smaller pen. If you want a larger one, you should probably look at the M600.
The color of this blue swirl on the pen is very vibrant. The pen itself is a bit light, and it is also shorter than I am used to (LAMY Safari, Caran d'ache 849, Cross Wanderlust, Online Vision), but it is well-balanced with the cap on (unlike with the others). The EF nib is smooth, but still has a good feedback/friction so that it glides without halting but still feels like concretely writing, which I like. It is not as smooth as the Cross Wanderlust, but I like the additional feedback of the Pelikan better. This is my first pen with built in piston fill, but it was easy to figure out.
I was happy to see this gorgeous pen become available again! When it came back in stock I immediately purchased it. Pelikan steel nibs exceed those of most manufactures both in terms of beauty and a smooth writing experience. This is a great pen and a good bargain. As usual Pen Boutique provided exceptional customer service.
The color, the nib, the design; what's not to love? This pen certainly lives up to the Pelikan name. The nib glides over the paper and the pen feels comfortable in my hand. It's a lovely addition to my collection.
