Pelikan M805 Fountain Pen - Souveran Stresemann Black
Important personality - Gustav Stresemann In addition to his outstanding political career, including as Foreign Minister of the Weimar Republic, Gustav Stresemann (1878-1929) also became known for designing a suit. This was ideal for public appearances on the one hand and could be worn casually in the office on the other. At the same time, Pelikan's striped fountain pens began their global triumphal march: Suddenly, the vernacular also referred to them as "Stresemann". This also turned the writing instruments into personalities. Even today, both the suit and the fountain pen bear the name of Stresemann. To honour the legend, Pelikan has officially named the Souverän with stylish stripes in anthracite Stresemann. Souverän 805 Stresemann The production of the Souverän coat is subject to an elaborate process. According to a recipe developed especially for Pelikan, a striped piece of material is made from cotton material in many steps, which is bent and then cut to contour with a diamond. The palladium-plated rings on the filler grip and cap are fitted with the utmost precision before the writing instrument is polished to a high gloss. The slightly springy, typical Pelikan beak clip gives this high-quality writing instrument its unmistakable design. The Souverän M805 piston fountain pen has an 18-carat completely rhodium-plated gold nib and is available in the nib widths EF, F, M and B. The EF nib ensures an extra-fine typeface and is particularly suitable for handwriting with small curves.

The best way to describe this pen - is ultra smooth, juicy, great performing writing instrument. (i`ve got it with the Broad nib). The material is also attractive, it`s well-constructed pen! I use it with wet inks like Iroshizuku Asa Gao, Diamine inks and Aurora black ink- performs very well in this pen. Pelican inks tends to run a little dryer (in any pens), so if you want the ultimate performance combination - that`s gonna be it!

I am an owner of numerous Mont Blanc, Waterman, Pilot and Sailor fountain pens. You could call me a pen addict. The Pelikan Souveran M805 is beautiful, well made and writes better than any other pen I have besides my Pilot 823.

Great pen. Got this M805 in medium which is perfect for this smooth and stiff nib, at least as compared to the M1000 with fine nib, which has so much flex is writes like a medium to double-broad.I have been reluctant to invest in Pelikan. I wasn’t sure I would like them after the Pilot 823 and 845 or Sailor KOP, which i have in medium. But when I got the M1000 in fine it quickly became my all time favorite, as it is simply a lot of fun to write with. The M805 I knew would be stiffer, but it still has more line variation than either of the Pilots, and no where near as much as the Sailor. While I enjoy writing with the M805, I do think it’s a notch down from the Pilot and Sailor for writing pleasure.

High craftsmanship pen and after smoothly using the piston filler charged the pen with ink and a quick purge of any air the pen instantly was able to apply in to paper very smoothly, don’t think it will take long to break in the gold nib to my writing style. An expensive pen but top quality costs money. I am also please with the colour which a computer screen can’t convey.
I have always wanted a Pelikan Souveran pen. I was specifically looking for the M8XX size and though the traditional black and green in handsome, it is a bit ostentatious for using in the office. The black and gold design also looks very similar to my Montblanc so I wanted something more monochrome. The Stresemann was perfect for my needs, and despite some claims of QC issues I read on other reviews, I have had no issues at all with this pen. Highly recommend all around.
I bought a M805 Stresemann with EF nib from the previous drop.I can give only three stars to this transaction. The overll process of transaction was smooth and I've got my delivery without significant delay, so I could give 5 stars for the transaction. But the problem is the quality of fountain pen itself. When I first tried to use the pen, ink flow was so terrible that I cannot use it for regular writing at all. I experienced frequent skips all the time. So I cleaned the nib throughly using detergent and warm water again and again, but nothing's changed. I tried several different types of ink such as Pilot Iroshizuku, Pelikan 4001 and Edelstein, Parker, Mont Blanc, etc. but no significant improvement.Fortunately, I could find a 3rd party fountain pen ... MoreI bought a M805 Stresemann with EF nib from the previous drop.I can give only three stars to this transaction. I tried several different types of ink such as Pilot Iroshizuku, Pelikan 4001 and Edelstein, Parker, Mont Blanc, etc. but no significant improvement.Fortunately, I could find a 3rd party fountain pen maintenance center around my place and the engineer adjusted the feeder to make better ink flow. Now the fountain pen is working properly.
I wanted to love this pen; and to some extent, it is everything I thought it would be! Aesthetically beautiful, great quality, writes like butter with little feedback, ink flow a little on the wetter side — which for me is a good thing and with NO skipping. So, why is it short? The fine point nib that I ordered writes more like a strong medium nib, and because it writes like butter, I have to train myself to control the pen differently to ensure the type of penmanship I normally produce with a fine point fountain pen.Is it worth it? Hard to say—to each their own. I am happy to have the pen as part of my collection, but I don’t see myself burying another Pelikan at this price range. As for the company web experience, purchase and follow up — 5 stars!!
Beautiful looking pen - good ink capacity - really smooth and flowing writing style using great nib. Better than any of my Montblanc pens so far.
Pelikan nibs are excellent, and this is the real deal. Bear in mind that they are more broad than Eastern or vintage ones. The line thickness of this Extra Fine on my M805 pretty much exactly matches the Fine on my vintage 400. I suspected this beforehand, and got exactly what I was aiming for.The nib is very smooth and writes just as smoothly when reversed, with only a slightly thinner line. It allows some line variation when pressed, but is not flexy by any means. All in all, it writes like a dream. The item was promptly dispatched and would have arrived very quickly if it wasn't help up by customs for 17 days. Obviously, this is totally out of the seller's control.
