389 is still good wine, rich taste. But Penfolds has very good marketing, translate a very lucky Chinese name 奔富, and wine numbers used alot '8', very popular among Chinese people. Overall marketing is higher than wine, hahaha.

389 is still good wine, rich taste. But Penfolds has very good marketing, translate a very lucky Chinese name 奔富, and wine numbers used alot '8', very popular among Chinese people. Overall marketing is higher than wine, hahaha.
Penfolds 389 was a special wine for some years shared at many a dinner with a dear friend, until the winery realized Chinese buyers were leveraging price differentials and buying up the market.So Penfolds raised the price on "the little Grange". I really don't have a problem with that, the winery capturing some of that secondary market revenue. Good business move.Except I was buying this at US$27/btl.Is it still a nice wine? Yes.Still a value buy? Well, that's a whole 'nuther question.We buy when there's a 20% off coupon.
19 Crimes Red Blend has been our favorite winter red for a number of years. Don't buy it if you like powerful red wines. Smooth drinking similar to the best Merlot's. Ladies love it.
