All the Shiraz typical aromas, beautifully balanced with that Grange blend of 98% Shiraz, 2% Cabernet Sav. Could have done with a few more years cellared but overall an outstanding red

I waited years to taste Grange. When I did it was very disappointing. I talked to someone else about Grange and they said they weren't impressed either. I love Penfolds, but I think this wine is living on its historic reputation. I'll continue to buy the entry level stuff.

Great Wine
16 October 2022

Make no mistake this is a great wine. The balance, the flavor profile and the finish are all world-class. But at $700/bottle (give or take depending on the year), you will never say it's three times better than a $200 bottle. Or two times better than a $300 bottle. And that's really the key. Is it worth it? 1) It depends on how much $700 is worth to you in relative terms, and 2) Is there a special occasion or memory you want to create?I was not disappointed in any way -- it's a fantastic wine. And we drank it as a celebration of a new job and birthday of a long time friend from Australia. So it was worth it for the memory it created. But I would not say it was meaningfully better than Crocker & Starr Stone Place, or numerous other great wines in the $150 - $300 range.

Excellent colour, concentrated flavour development and integrated tannins - hallmarks of a stand-out vintage.
