Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W / 0.9L
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 with PurePlus Technology is when you combine PurePlus synthetic base oils with our high performance additives. PurePlus Technology is a patented, revolutionary process that converts pure natural gas into the first-of-its-kind, high quality, full synthetic base oil used in the Pennzoil Platinum line of motor oils. It produces a crystal clear base oil that is 99.5 percent pure with fewer impurities than base oils made from crude oil, the start to many other traditional and synthetic motor oils. PurePlus base oils enable very low volatility formulations with NOACK volatilities of 10 percent and lower - results typical API Group II and III (synthetic) base stocks cannot achieve. This means less oils lost by evaporating off hot engine surfaces such as piston rings. I did research on oil for a long time. Wow did I find out some things I didnāt know about true synthetics and so called synthetic oils. Now a oil that you can put in you car and tell a difference in the way it runs, quiter, smoother, and two mpg better too. You know it is better the instant you start your car no joking. I started using this oil in my Toyota 2AZFE which has very small holes by the engine oil rings that if they get clogged up the engine will start to consume more engine oil. I have always changed the oil on time so it never did get totally clogged holes but they were clogged some because at 90,000 miles it was using 1/2 a quart of oil at 5,000 miles, which according to Toyota is still okay but I knew the holes were getting clogged because it started ...Ā MoreI did research on oil for a long time. So In my research for a cure to clean the piston holes I saw that this oil was very good at cleaning and has very low burn off when compared to many other oils. I have been using this ultra now for the last two oil changes and the last oil change of 6,000 miles it had only used 1/8 a quart of oil. There is no mistake that this oil is better. I will be using it in all my cars from now on. Thanks for a good product Pennzoil !

Started using the Ultra Platinum 0w20 in my 2016 Accord Sport over a year ago. Initially I thought it was no different than a previous leading synthetic oil I had been using. After the first oil change using Ultra Platinum, I had some burn off and needed to add a little oil after 3500 miles.Contacted Pennzoil about burn off in my 2.4 direct injected engine and they recommended changing the PCV valve.I changed the PCV valve at 25,000 miles on the odometer, changed the oil again with Ultra Platinum and I have not needed to add any oil between oil changes. I Check the oil at every fill up and it seems to stay exactly on the full mark when hot.I have to be honest here, I havenāt experienced this with any other readily available leading synthetic and I was a loyal ...Ā MoreStarted using the Ultra Platinum 0w20 in my 2016 Accord Sport over a year ago. Had some white looking ash on the ground electrodes and occasional hesitation to start.New plugs, new PCV valve, staying with Ultra Platinum oil and occasional 91 fill up with Shell V power keeps this car running top notch.Iām a believer and a fan of this oil.I wonāt use anything else. Hope Pennzoil keeps making this oil.

So... I bought this excellent, one owner, Overland Summit at 83K and have babied it to 138K.- all dealer regular service, extended service- dealer package oil changes (Pennzoil 5W20 dino oil) 3,000mi interval...I have take care of this Cherokee, and donāt mind frequent oil changes, because that is cheap maintenance. However, until last month (3/2021) it had a valve tick that always sounded pronounced on the passenger side.- A race team friend reiterated using synthetic oil in his bevy of old Rovers...- Walmart had Pennzoil full synthetic in 0W20 weight. The infamous āHemi tickā referred to by Scotty Kilmer, and websites galore...disappeared!!- Fact
No, 5W30 Ultra isn't as "good" as it used to be. No, you can't find it, either. No, Pennzoil doesn't really want to sell it, apparently, they act like it is sold at a loss. HOWEVER -- For any Infiniti VQ37VHR engine, this oil is still a must-have. It runs super quiet, slightly increases mpg, protects the somewhat finicky valve train, resists oil shearing this engine is notorious for, and... ... (wait for it) my oil analysis results at 6,000 miles had the company asking why I was changing it so often!! I have to stock up 2-3 years worth when it is available. I find that these bottles were packaged almost a year ago (shelf stable for 4 years per Pennzoil, if not left in temperature extremes). Since they let it sit in some warehouse that long, the conclusion is Pennzoil distribution channels are horrible, or they really don't want to sell it. They want the wow factor like a MB 600 AMG, then sell you the C-class Mercedes. (Their regular Full Synthetic is in a nearly indistinguishable bottle in every store in the country.) Very, very annoying.
Bought this from a Napa Auto Parts. Came in a grey bottle, says ultra platinum, but date reads 25 APR 14⦠is that the manufacture date or the expiration? My other Pennzoil bottles are yellow, exceeds newer requirements than the ultra platinum⦠is Napa selling oil from 2014? Either way Iām not putting it in my vehicle. Iāll happily go get standard platinum. Waste of my money and time.
Installed the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20 SN-Plus oil in my 2016 Accord (2.4L) in JAN 2020 with about 28,000 miles on the odometer. I was very curious a to see how this hyped up oil would perform. Seemed good for about 3,000 miles, then the oil started burning off excessively when summer hit and temps outside rose to 108 to 110 degrees in my area. After 3,000 miles on this oil, I was not expecting that much burn off to the point I was out of oil for the next top off. Mind you this oil is not readily available on shelves and has to beordered...I'm no scientist or oil chemist but, it seems to be a no brainer that the flash point of Gas to Liquid (GTL) base stock in Pennzoil Synthetic oils are much lower than PAO (Group IV) base stock oil. Numerous additives have to be carefully balanced in the process to make this Pennzoil GTL oil work and compete with PAO base stock oils.Further self analysis revealed that GTL base stock is between a Group III (hydro-cracked) and below a Group IV (true synthetic) base stock. Similar in structure but not a stable as PAO based oil.Your engine won't notice the difference between GTL and PAO true synthetic oil until it gets low on oil from burning off and that my folks is what I'm worried about. Where is it going? Is it changing back to a gas form and evaporating in extreme heat (at the valve guides and piston rings)? This can be the best oil known to man but, if I have to constantly monitor oil consumption and order oil that is not on shelves, then I need to move back to PAO based oils for reliability.Truth be told, marketing hype is at its finest here with the Pennzoil GTL products. Pennzoil Ultra is a hard to get oil off the shelf and just makes people want to try it (like me) and see what all the hype is about., It's not Dexos 1 GEN 2 certified to guarantee performance. So what makes it soo special? Regular Pennzoil Platinum out specs the flagship Ultra. Doesn't make sense. Also getting tired of Pennzoil not controlling their documentation updates online for their products. PDF information documents dated 2018 but the Platinum oil is API SP rated as of May 2020............ CUT & PASTE corrections. What about Ultra Platinum? is it going to be SP rated? When is that document getting updated? Next Year? That's why I don't care about this hyped up GTL based oil that does not have a mileage guarantee for XX,XXX amount of miles between oil changes like other Group IV true synthetic oils. That 500,000 mile engine warranty does not mean squat to me when the oil burns off and I'm going through 6 quarts of oil during an 8,000 mile oil change interval on the oil life monitor and my car only holds 4.4 quarts. That's poor performance and probably why it does not meet DEXOS 1 GEN 2 standards.Nice product but, needs a lot of work for me to come back. I don't trust it.
I have been running this Oil in 3 of my Cars the past several years. The High Milers, a 2008 Cadillac STS with 200,000, and a 1994 Buick Roadmaster with 300,000. Since using these Oils, both engine have better Throttle Response and Pickup. The Oil is very dirty, so I suspect it is removing guck from the Rings, freeing them up. The 3rd Car is a 95 Cadillac Fleetwood with 16,000 on the clock. I want to keep this engine clean, so it will continue to use the Ultra, for the foreseeable Future

Best oil for the money. This is not just my opinion. Look on Youtube for cold pour tests and then look for a Youtube guy "project farm". He does a heat/evaporation test, wear type test and cold pour test involving Pennzoil ultra platinum and one other oil as a "championship" type of face-off after comparing many different oils of which are top brands. Cold pour is my most important concern living in the North Eastern United States. Most wear occurs when starting a vehicle, so cold pour/flow to get the oil up top in the motor is paramount. Anyway, see for yourself. I hope the best for you and your equipment. I believe in giving credit where credit is due, good or bad. In this case it's good.
