I purchased this oil on special from Repco because it’s an Australia owned company, it the perfect oil for my pre ‘95 BMW motorcycle and it was a great price. Only problem was I could only pre order 3 x 5L where I would have purchased 10 at that price. But hey. I’ve got 3 oil changes with the best oil.

I've never had a motor run better with this oil, only worse. It's made several quite engines develop a lifter tick which has disappeared once I went back to manufacturer spec 20/50. It physically feels like a 40 weight when cold. It is very thick. I tried Penrite HPR40 25/70 and it nearly seized my engine. the noise still haunts me.

Have used this in my Torana since engine rebuild. High zinc provides great protection in all conditions. Supercheap price matched and were great!

I have been a loyal Castrol brand user for over 20 years now in all of my cars. Anyway the other day in my older car which I have always used Castrol GTX 20W-50 oil in from back in the late 1990's up until a few days ago when I was driving on a rather warm Melbourne day I noticed that the oil pressure light was switching on at low revs/idle speed. I thought that's a bit odd it's never happened before I know it's an original old engine (41 years old and never rebuilt) I was starting to think maybe it's getting a little tired and worn out somewhere. I noticed when the revs were slightly faster the light was turning off so I quickly pulled over and checked the oil level as maybe I had a leak from somwehere while driving and had lost alot of oil? Well nope the oil level ... MoreI have been a loyal Castrol brand user for over 20 years now in all of my cars. I noticed when the revs were slightly faster the light was turning off so I quickly pulled over and checked the oil level as maybe I had a leak from somwehere while driving and had lost alot of oil? Well nope the oil level was at the full mark. Both the Castrol oil and ryco oil filter were only around 4 months old.So as to not go wasting money on replacing the oil pressure switch or other things I thought firstly i'd try some of this good old slightly thicker oil at operating temperature Penrite oil and a new ryco oil filter to see if it fixes the oil pressure light coming on at operating temperature when sitting at low revs and idling in traffic. Well guess what? The oil pressure light has not come back on again at all after changing to this oil and a new filter! Even at very low revs I never saw the oil light turn on at all. I am starting to now wonder at the overall quality control of the Castrol oil product after my recent experience in my older car.Anyway very happy with this Penrite HPR30 20W-60 engine oil in my older car I won't be going back to Castrol GTX 20W-50 again. Not only is it not worth it at over $50 for 5 litres (Used to be only around $20 on sale some years ago) of this stuff which is these days blended and made in an overseas plant. I'd rather pay around the same amount and support a great local oil blending factory like Penrite who are local and do try to make products that are more suited to our local motoring needs. Cheers!
Needed engine oil suitable for my 1966 MGB with a higher zinc content. The helpful staff member checked the product suitability before purchase 🙌
I usually use Castrol for my Holden 4.2L Premier, after reading about Penrite i thought ill give this oil a try. I only drive the care few times a year, usually the lifters are noisy a few minutes. I did a filter and oil flush, and filled it with Penrite 20-60, OMG what a difference, ive never heard the motor run so smooth and so quiet even on startup, no lifter noise. seems like they are a perfect match for this type of engine.
I have used 20/60 Penrite oil in my 2000 WF Ford Festiva since new. The dealer upon its first service replaced the factory supplied oil with Castrol 10/40. I noticed the oil presser light would stay on for nearly three seconds combined with slight overhead rattle. Dealer said, not really a problem. I took the car home ,drained the oil and replaced it with Penrite 20/60. Problem solved, oil pressure light is extinguished immediately and absence of engine noise. Dealer said that I would have problems because of the thickness. "WELL 20Yrs later and still the original engine has travelled 461,000 KM. oil consumption is about 0.5 Lt per 10,000 KM. Still goes hard.
Penrite is the best oil. I have been using it for years and have found it’s lubrication qualities outstanding. In older engines it doesn’t burn as much as other brands and in gearboxes and diff’s clings to gears and runs cooler.I can’t see any reason to change brands.
Best brand oil. The HPR range has been my choice for over a decade on many differnet automotive engine appilcations from high-race applications to my remote touring 4x4.
I have a 1989 jaguar xj40 3.6 petrol. The manufacturer recommends 20w50 mineral oil my mechanic recommends and uses penrite 20w60 hpr30. This car does about 8000 m a year these days. I do my own oil changes 2 a year one before winter and one before summer and always change the oil filter. Some may say thats excessive but note, this car is 30 years old and a joy to drive A final note i like the service sticker they put on thecontainer that is the attention to detail i like
