If you are on the water lots , more time in slightly lower light conditions, I’d say go for the Maven 7x28. Otherwise, for the money (2.5 times less$) these are my new go to Birding and can’t be beat for what you get. At 8x25 the exit Pupil is on the smaller side, but the porro prism makes up for it as does the twilight factor with higher mag. I’ve had nothing but good experience in the forest catching birds and appreciate what 8x is all about and I still love 6.5x and 10x for birding. For what you get I think there is a reason why these have been around for so long. I think it’s better then the Nikon traveler optically. The Papilio 2 (sibling) is better yet but 21 objective and not waterproof. Honestly, if your doing a wet tropical jungle trip where the goal is to observe wild life and you think you will never use them again when your trip is over, just gift it to a local. The instrument will enhance your experience and the gift would probably be greatly appreciate by someone in that region who doesn’t have our ways of income and freedoms.

I have an earlier version of these binos, not waterproof and made in China. They are optically excellent, nearly as good as my full size Nikon Monarch 5 glasses. If the clarity and resolution of this version is equivalent, they are a bargain. Construction and materials is good - mine look like new after nearly a decade of use. Where these compacts fall down is in low light, but that will be the case with any binos with smaller than 5mm exit pupil.

Recently purchased these binoculars for a trip to Costa Rica. Used them while hiking. These binoculars offer a very clear image with good low light detail. They seem constructed very well and are very durable. They are small enough to not weigh you down while hiking. A great balance between image quality and weight/size.Highly recommended !
