My senior Calicos are sky walkers. They love bird watching on our 2nd floor laundry room roof from there they walk along the privacy fence onto a shed then jump down to bask in the sun in the fenced in garden below. I LOVE their independence! Now with bug weather fast approaching it was time to think of doggie/cat doors. What a bargain these are sturdy they look good and are NOT cheap plastic. I have one upstairs on my window screen and one downstairs on the patio door screen. My girls and a Jack Russell Terrier can come and go as they please. Life is good with this product...:) peace

I have 2 mini schnauzers that fly through this as if it wasn't even there. We broke a screen and a door due to opening the screen just as the dogs flew through. It caught on the slider as it was swinging. Our fault. I reinforced the frame with 4 screws as the frame just pops together and frequently will become loose without the screws. After breaking the door I ordered 2 more as they're inexpensive and easy to install.

Just installed the door for our small dog (5lbs) and is working very well so far. I was initially concerned because the door and frame are all plastic and I was concerned about durability. But for our small dog it actually made it better because the door is light and easy to push open. A heavier steel door would have been more difficult for a small dog to open. I found a great video on youtube on how to install, and it worked perfectly. Installation took 15min. Training took a little longer, but lots of treats and patience won the day. She is now going in/out of the door without assistance.

The screen door is well made of sturdy materials. It is necessary to put some form of backing material to keep the door in place. If the door is affixed to the screen only, one false move and the dog will tear it out. I mounted a wire scratch proof mesh across the lower half of the screen door, and fastened the pet door to the mesh, after making a cutout. Works swimmingly. My first one lasted for several years this way.
Using this in the sliding screen door that goes out to our screened porch. Kitty loves it! The install was a little tricky only because of the fact that it was a door we installed it on and not an easily removable one. I doubt the longevity a little bit, because it seems like I may need to add a little tape to seal it better or something. I’m nervous that with one strong push from the kids or dogs that the entire screen with tear. Overall, though, I think it’s a nice option!!
We got this at least ten years ago. It has lasted for quite a few cats, but the latest cat is young and rambunctious and managed to completely rip out the screen. Still, it lasted far beyond the warranty, and if we were willing for the cat to go in and out all the time, it would be fine. The locks held up, but the screen didn't. So it gets new screen, plus nuts and bolts through the holes I drilled in the frames. We shall see how it holds now. Downright easy to install, somewhat more difficult to repair, but a good idea that works.
I want to give this product a better rating. I should have listened to the other reviews. The installation seemed easy enough however I also had the plastic pins break off, not even after using it, but during installation. Luckily, I am handy with tools and came up with a solution of which I have attached photos. But if you aren’t handy this could be a real problem. I highly recommend Pet Safe returning to their manufacturer and having this design flaw corrected. Once installed it is doing what I need it to and the pets have taken to it quickly.
I was concerned about the installatiion because I could not remove my screen door as it is between two sliding glass doors. However, it is quite easy to install the Petsafe door with the screen door in place. I put a small piece of wood, about an inch thick, on the bottom of the screen door frame and then set the inside frame of the Petsafe door on top of it. Using duct tape I stuck the inside frame to the inside of the screen door.. I marked and cut the screen from the outside then tapped both frames together from the outside with one hand on the inside for support. I didnt have a rubber mallet so I used gentle taps with my regular hammer, it doesnt take much. We are so pleased and kitten loves it.

I was so happy to try out the small pet screen door by PetSafe! I had never heard of this before now. We have 2 puppies and are constantly either opening and closing the screen door or just leaving it open to let them out all day. This is a miracle worker and is easy to install in to your existing screen. You just have to cut out a spot in the screen to install this screen for the dogs to go through easily. This saves from getting bugs in the house and my dogs are able to go outside any time they want. I do like that it has a lock feature so I’m able to lock it at night as well. I highly recommend if you have pets that go outside. Once our puppies get bigger I will be getting the bigger size door.
