PetSafe ScoopFree Replacement Blue Crystal Cat Litter Tray

I was a little sceptical at first to spend a hundred and thirty five dollars on sale for this box. It has really paid off in the long run. I bought the liners which were a bougie 15.99 each and changed every two weeks or sooner if needed. I have 4 cats and the box is in my bathroom so if they are in my room while I sleep that is the one that they use. The other box has cheap litter that gets changed 2 times a week with clay litter. This is what they use while they are home all day. When I saw Amazon sold the plastic liner version I was thrilled. This saved me so much more because I can go to any store to get the kitty crystals to refill and not purchase the pre-boxed litter refills that now retail for over 21.99 each. I was locked in an auto ship program at 3 for 47.00 which I thought was a good deal till I bought the plastic refill box off amazon. No one knows or smells that I have 4 cats with this box since it is automatic pretty quiet and I don't have to hunt to scoop away waste each day. It is a good investment for the average family and I do recommend this product!!

A drastic downgrade in product quality

The manufacturer has drastically degraded the quality of the litter. I've had this box for nearly 2 years now and had no problem with it up until a few months ago. Whereas before the litter waste would get raked into the waste compartment with no problem, now the kitty litter just gets absorbed and sits in the box, without getting successfully raked into the waste compartment. I imagine the manufacturer has downgraded the quality of the litter due to raise in cost of all things this past year. That said, the cost of each box ($24.99 w/o shipping) is no longer commensurate with its current lifespan of each litter box. I have two cats and went from changing the litter box every 2 week (per the instructions) to every 10 days. My cats are also having a hard time with it nearing the 10 days and don't want to use it. I don't blame them. I'll probably look into upgrading to a higher quality litter box like the litter robot.

Absolutely amazing.

I had been looking at self cleaning litter boxes for a little while, because I had decided that would be my (and my cats) treat with my tax refund earlier this year. A lot of other boxes required regular litter and were a lot more expensive, so I decided on these. I originally only bought one, because I wanted to make sure my cats would use the crystals as opposed to the litter that they were used to. They love these boxes, because I wasn’t always the best at keeping up on their boxes before, and I love them too, because less cleaning for me, and they really do absorb all of the odor. Anytime anyone has wondered about good litter and self cleaning boxes, I’ve jumped right in and recommended these. Absolutely worth the extra money.

I have had the smart self cleaning litter box for a month now and it’s amazing! I have always been a dog person, not a cat person but my husband and son are cat people. I have always hated the smell of cat litter and that deterred me from having a cat. We decided to get my son a kitten for his birthday and with this litter box and the litter trays I do not smell anything what so ever! I have even been in the room while she used the box and couldn’t smell a thing! The crystals do tend to get outside of the box but since they are larger and not super fine it’s easy to maintain and stay close to the box instead of ending up all over my house. I’m so glad I got this!

Each Tray Lasts a Month! Makes Kitty Care MUCH Easier.

This crystal litter is the bomb. It absorbs fluid well, and there is very little scent (which amazes me after years of trying to mask the smell of litter boxes). I have two cats, and one tray lasts for a full month for us (before the storage compartment for solid wastes fills-up). The cardboard of the tray is durable, and I have not had any issues with leakage (especially since the crystals are absorbent). The lid makes it all quick and easy to dispose. I appreciate that they offer a pack of three so that I have replacements on hand for three months. These crystal litter trays combined with the Scoopfree system have truly made life easier for me and my two cats. This was extremely easy to setup and use. My biggest issue was getting my cat to trust it but that only took a few days. We just put it in her room with her current box and sat with her a bit so she felt comfortable with it. There may have also been a handful of treats. By day 2, she had gone into the box without us there and within a few days she was using it. Keep in mind that she's an easily scared cat due to past abuse so she can take time warming up to new things. A at without this background may take to it faster. It seems to cut down on the smell in her room and she's very happy with a clean box. As most know, cats are very picky about their litter. I can't really blame them. We've not taken away her old one which uses clumping litter. She's now using the old for liquids only and this one for solids only. That may seem like a lot but it cut down on the smell in the old box as well. Even with daily cleanings. I also need to point out the counter which tracks how many times your cats has used the box. I'm using this as a guide for wen I need to change out the box. You can reset it as you change it so you don't have to remember where they were. The litter itself seems to last the whole month with minimal smell. Again, I only have 1 cat so keep this in mind. It's made it so that I can use the litter in both boxes for month instead of changing litter weekly which is a big plus. I do clean this when I change the litter but it takes a few minutes for the whole process. I even dump the litter from the other box into this tray, tape it up and throw it all away. It's very easy. This is also a huge help if you need to go out of town. Right after I got this, I got the call that my grandmother was on her death bed (very aggressive cancer). She lived about 6 hours away so just going over wasn't easy to plan on such short notice. Especially with a pandemic. Thanks to a few things, this included, I was able to make the trip. We were able to grant her final wish of being home and with loved ones while she passed. I came home after about a week to no big messes and no added stress. I'm very thankful to have had it while going through that difficult time.

Keeps odors at bay

I have been using the ScoopFree®Premium Blue Crystals Litter Trays for a little over 3 weeks now with great success. The Crystal's help to contain cat odors better then clay in my opinion. The bags of Crystal litter contain much less to almost any dust when pouring them into the included trays saving me from allergies. The convenience of these tray are great as well. You simply take the top off the tray and place in underneath it for later use, pour the included bag of crystal cat litter into it and then simply slide it into place under your ScoopFree cat litter box. How many cats you have determines how long the tray will last, but with one cat you can go a month on one tray. Changing and disposing of the trays is easy as well, just slide the used tray out and pull the lid out from underneath the tray and put it back on and into a trash bag - done! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a simpler solution to having to keep reminding themselves to scoop the litter box as they work great at containing odors.

The litter itself, lasts longer than traditional clay litters, and reduces residual smells. The Bad... You still have to deep clean the walls of your litter box (inside and out) when you change trays. The replacement trays are overpriced and under deliver. The Ugly... The trays are not leak proof. By the end of week 3, they are completely saturated, and fall apart when trying to remove and cover. We always have puddles of cat urine under the trays, and we use the lid to reinforce the tray to help absorb. We have had to get creative, but with little luck. One fix we did was to put an added layer (Usually a plastic trash bag), between the tray and the cover when setting up. So when we take the the lid out from under the tray, we can still put it on top of soiled tray to throw away. However this still has not been enough (and it’s not even 4 weeks yet), so now we buy giant yard waste trash bags. We cut them open, and spread completely under both trays. Is this worth it? Not so sure when I think really hard about it, but it’s what we have to contend with now. And then we have the litter box system, itself.... In a perfect world, this all would work. However, we all know cats lift their tails higher than females, and because the sides are low profile, the urine often goes on the floor from that. They make a cover, which we did, at one time use.... But It would make the overall interior size too small for larger cats, and cause the urine to get on their fur, when they turn around and bury, thus making for a very dirty cleanup of our cats. I think if they were to make a larger cover that extend Over the walls, but has a lower portion tapered to fit the box, that would be the ideal situation. Along with making a truly waterproof tray.

So so. Not the best.

Trays only last a week. Not superior odor control at all. Litter can reek! Scraper gets clogged. Poop doesn’t always make it in the compartment. Compartment lid falls off. Better than stopping every day. I am going back to the expensive disposable trays because the reusable one is a nightmare clean up. I also think the disposable trays may allow a little more odor control. I recommend the Litter Robot if you can afford it and have the space. For superior odor control get the Tidy Cats pellet system with the mats that neutralize the urine. You have to scoop the poop out still with that one.

It's not as easy as it looks to change this thing without getting dirty. 4. Completely disposable leak-proof tray with lid for quick, hygienic cleanup - I noticed a wet spot under the tray when changing it. 5. Crystals do not stick to your cats feet for less tracking throughout your home - I didn't notice any improvement.
