This is overall a solid harness and can be a good deal, especially when it's on sale. It's comfortable when I use it to climb, and wicks well if I've sweat through it. Only negative is that it is sometimes less comfortable sometimes when I'm belaying while in it (tends to ride up no matter how I've adjusted it).I used it as a replacement to my previous harness while shopping on a budget, and it did the job nicely. Since then, I've upgraded but keep this as a backup as it's sturdy and safe. For sizing, I got the smallest size I could find in the store which was a small, and when I was able to cinch everything up, it fit well (I typically run XS so this was suitable), but I did cinch it up to almost the limit.

I recently bought this for my wife to replace a very similar harness from Black Diamond. The color, look and style is great. The waist fit was perfect with lots of adjustments but my wife did find that the straps in the inner thighs were not comfortable. They seem to use these metal inserts so if your thighs are close to rubbing it makes for an uncomfortable fit (wife is a fit 5’7 - 120lbs). Overall, if the fit was better she would have kept them but she had to get a different model for a better fit.

I own two other harnesses and this Petzl harness is my new go to. I started off with some of the more inexpensive brands due to my budget, which worked out fine but never quite felt right on the fit. This new Petzl Adjama harness is still affordable and fits snug on the waist and perfect on my thighs with the leg loops holding firm without any shifting throughout my climbing day. The 5th big loop on the back is a huge plus and the extra padded material really does help with comfort, plus it has some nice breathability. The color also looks slick and matches my typical climbing getup. I wish this harness was available early in my climbing life. Highly recommended and should last me quite a while.

Bought this to replace a smaller harness I had when I put on a few pounds. Totally stoked I no longer have to take the whole harness off when nature calls as it has buckles to release the leg straps. My old harness didn’t have the buckles and I always had to take the whole harness off any time I had to go to the bathroom. Easy to adjust the legs and waist belts. Comfortable with falls. I’m 5’4”, 138 pounds, and a bit fluffy in my mid section. Got the medium and it fits great. I do have a large for ice climbing to go over the extra clothes. I would definitely buy it again and would recommend.
Fit and feel of the harness was good but there is an issue with the gear loop design. The fabric of the gear loops wear out easily with typical outdoor use (pulling in & out of packs, sitting on rocks, climbing, etc.). This tends to happen at the corners of the front gear loops. The inner plastic gear loop piece is NOT connected to main harness body and will fall out if the outer fabric wears through (and dump any gear on that loop in the process). The ends of the plastic loop stiffeners can also easily pierce through the fabric which happened to me a week after use which Petzl replaced under warranty. I've seen also seen this with friends who have the same harness. The replacement Adjama lasted me less than a year before the one of the front gear loop fabric ... MoreFit and feel of the harness was good but there is an issue with the gear loop design. The fabric of the gear loops wear out easily with typical outdoor use (pulling in & out of packs, sitting on rocks, climbing, etc.). I've seen also seen this with friends who have the same harness. The replacement Adjama lasted me less than a year before the one of the front gear loop fabric sheaths finished wearing through. This happened while I was climbing mid-route and dumped my cams on that loop. I've seen and heard other stories of these things happening with the Petzl Adjama (there are other online discussions about it). Photos attached of the failed gear loop and one of the loops that could fail any day now.Avoid this harness if you plan on climbing outdoors semi-regularly or be wary of the worn gear loops and reinforce them with tape as the fabric wears out.
First, I loved the plethora of racking space, but would never recommend this harness to any trad climber who finds themselves in chimneys or offwidths. This is because of the gear loop failure issues that have also been highlighted by a couple of the other reviewers. The issue originates from the fact that there's hard plastic on the *inside* of the fabric for the front gear loops, but only the fabric itself is actually stitched into the harness. This means that abrasion of the fabric (which can happen quickly if you're one who enjoys the wide) on the outside will break through to the plastic core, which doesn't have any connection to the harness other than being sheathed by the (now gone) fabric. Think of it as if you only tied into the sheath portions of your ... MoreFirst, I loved the plethora of racking space, but would never recommend this harness to any trad climber who finds themselves in chimneys or offwidths. This is because of the gear loop failure issues that have also been highlighted by a couple of the other reviewers. Think of it as if you only tied into the sheath portions of your rope, but the core was still there.Luckily i caught it before it was able to dump a bunch of cams off my harness on a multipitch climb. Beware!
At 5’10” with a thicket mid section and th him we thighs I have a hard time finding a harness that actually fits. This is the only harness am that comes up to my waist (I have a high rise) as opposed to sitting low on my hips and hitting my stomach at a weird spot like almost any other harness. I was eager to try this harness as it was advertised to be a comfortable all-arounder for top rope, sport and multi-pitch trad climbing days at the crag. Over the past three years, I’ve worn a few other harnesses for a mix of top rope and sport climbing. I found them all to be comfortable for long days in variable conditions. So far I have only used the Adjama for sport climbing at the gym but I was surprised that I experienced noticeable pulling and bunching with the adjustable leg loops while lowering from the anchors, both as the climber and while belaying. The issue improved when I tightened the leg loop buckles down significantly but that provided for less freedom of movement while climbing. The issue improved when I tightened the leg loop buckles down significantly but that provided for less freedom of movement while climbing. One possible contributor to this concern is the thickness of the padding around the back and sides of the leg loops. The thicker padding may provide some additional comfort on the back of the thighs while lowering but the additional material on the inner thighs seems superfluous and increased the opportunity for bunching when the leg loops were not tightened to the point of immobility. One feature of the harness that I preferred over my daily workhorse Wild Country harness is the angled placement of the gear loops. I found that on a quick test for load capacity that I was able to easily fit six quick draws on each loop due to their offset positioning. It’s not often that I find myself needing more than 12 quick draws for a typical single pitch climb but this capacity would prove beneficial for trad climbers who like to bring a variety of cam options for each climb. All gear loops are easily accessible and their size allows for good organization of draws and cams.Overall the harness fit was true to advertising with a sufficient range in the waist adjustability.
I've been climbing with a BD Momentum harness that I got on clearance a decade ago. That harness was a great bargain for an entry level harness at the time, even at full price (~$50). The new Momentum is now priced more inline with this Petzl, and I think the Petzl is the better option.First off, the Adjama has "DoubleBack" buckles that eliminate the need for you to do the double-backing yourself. I was confused at first trying to double-back them because you can't, and don't have to. It's one less thing to forget to do.The padding on the waist and legs is more significant than on my BD. Now my old harness my have lost some of its cushion, but I don't think it was ever as soft as the Petzl. Now my old harness my have lost some of its cushion, but I don't think it was ever as soft as the Petzl. I will give the BD credit for having a wider back waist though; that helps distribute pressure on the lower back while hanging. One thing I love on the BD is the ice tool clip. I never used it with any ice tools, but it was a great place to quickly clip several slings. The current version doesn't come with it and that's a shame. The Petzl also does not come with one, but they indicate on the box that it is compatible with their Caritool Evo holder. In fact, that add-on looks to be universally compatible, but some reviews indicate the wire gate may pop off easily. That never happened on my BD.The gear loops on this harness are covered in fabric. It seems like a sturdy material (probably Cordura or something similar), but I don't know that it will hold up as long as the standard exposed plastic ones I'm used to. It does look good though and I imagine they won't lose any function even if the fabric does eventually wear down. This harness has five loops, with the two rear side loops angled to try and bring your gear forward. Pretty smart in my opinion. One thing missing from this harness is a rear haul loop. The BD has a 12kN-rated rear loop for hanging heavy stuff (e.g. an additional rope for multi-pitch climbs) or for anchoring yourself down when you're belaying someone much heavier than you (you can do that from the belay loop too). The Petzl has a little loop in the center rear for a chalk bag.So, ultimately I think it's a great harness. I wish it had a rear haul loop and maybe I'll add that ice tool clip, but that's just because I'm used to having them, not a deal-breaker by any means. I wear a size 30 pant and got the medium so it would have room to go over some layers. It fits well. Oh, and I like the color :-)
The adjama is the perfect all-rounder. It is also the most comfortable harness that I hung around in (compared to the corax lt, bd momentum, and bd solution). My decision came down to the solution and the adjama. I ended up going with the adjama for the better gear loops and the adjustable leg loops when compared to the solution. This is my first harness and I decided to get a nice harness early on to prevent myself from buying multiple harnesses. With the adjama, I feel that I could use it in comp, sport, gym, and possibly even trad climbing. I think that the only discipline where the adjama would potentially fall short is big wall climbing.Overall, I'd say that the extra $10 over the solution harness was worth it for me.
