Petzl Meteor Helmet - Red - S/M

This helmet is light and comfortable and breaths well. I often forget I'm wearing it on the uphill and rarely find I'm overheating. For cold days, there's enough adjustment to allow for a small liner hat. The headlamp / goggle clip works easily without issue. Some others have had issue with the magnetic clip system but it hasn't been a problem for me. It's also rolled around my trunk a number of times and hasn't shown any wear, so durability seems OK.

I have gone through a few climbing helmets in the past this one in particular is memorable, I am an alpine climber so weight is something I am very conscious about and this helmet is extremely lightweight. The fitting system is great, at first I thought it was flimsy but it has withstood 3 years of use and still feels and looks just fine. The inside padding did get scraped on some rock a few times but they supply a second set of padding and I just swithched it out. Overall this helmet is great and gets the job done extremely well.

Good Helmet at a great Price

This was my first "good" climbing helmet and I cannot be more impressed. As someone with many concussions I always wear a helmet when climbing outdoors. This is so much better than any dump helmet. Thankfully have not taken a head impact with it. It has some small scratches and what not but nothing unusable throughout the first season with this. Got compliments for how light it was when climbing in the New River Gorge.

Good UL Helmet

It's very light & comfy. Wear it up & down the mtn ski touring. My one qualm is that I have long hair and often my hair gets in the buckle and stops it from locking properly - the magnet will hold it in place & so it feels like it's locked but it'll pull open easy. I have to double check it closed properly every time. Pretty small issue though.No issue wearing sunnies with it - I put my sunnies on over top of the front parts of the strap.

Good so far...

Good lid so far. Shows small dings fairly easily, though that doesn't bother me. My two biggest things so far are: 1) I haven't been able to find a great fit for my head. I originally purchased the small/m size from another retailer and it just barely would fit on the widest setting. This time I got the m/l and it rides sightly too big, even with careful adjustments, though I'm still playing with it here and there. 2) I honestly didn't count on this weight making such a difference overall. My prev lid was twice the weight and although my activity is very casual on the Colorado scale, it is worth the investment.

Great Lightweight Helmet

I needed a replacement helmet for my Petzl Boreo and have been eyeing different helmets and decided to give the Meteor a try. If you're in a hurry and can't read tons of words, suffice it to say, this was a solid choice and I don't think you'll be disappointed with this helmet. Now to continue....First the pros: Let me just say the weight! Or rather the lack thereof! I wore it for a day of sport climbing (and top roping) last week and I think I've had baseball caps that felt heavier. It was literally so light I kept forgetting I actually had a helmet on, which was especially nice when I was belaying. The magnetic chin clasp took some getting used to, but overall I like it.I live in NC, so I climb pretty much year round so staying warm or cool depending on seasons is always something I take into consideration and this is where I think the Meteor looses some of it's versatility as this seems like a better warm weather helmet. There are plenty of holes for ventilation which is a definite plus on those hot sweaty days.Now for the cons: I really don't have much other than I think the lightweight aspect to it, means that it just *feels* less durable that some heavier, clunkier helmets so I anticipate this helmet showing wear a little more quickly.Some extra things, just to take into consideration: I fit the s/m helmet, but if I was to get this again, I'd buy the m/l. I have a LOT of long, thick hair, and depending on the way I braid my hair, this helmet is almost too small even though my head measures well within the size range. Also, because I climb in winter, I like to wear a hat under my helmets sometimes and I can't with this one.***for reference sake: I climb intermediately, sport & trad (learning), both single & multipitch***

Great addition to my rock pack!

Alright so when I opened the box I was stoked to see the helmet. I put it on a bit too quickly and had to take it off to adjust the size. This was a simple adjustment to the two straps at the back of the helmet. Fairly simple and easy to adjust into place.The past few times I’ve taken this helmet out it’s been for top rope climbing and bouldering. The helmet is light weight and easy to attach to any pack. The orange and gray color scheme will match most styles.The packaging also came with a few pieces of cushion that that can be added to the helmet for comfort. So far I haven’t really felt the need to add the cushion.Definitely recommend the helmet. Simply because it’s easy to use and incredibly light weight.

Great sturdy but light weight helmet.

I was a little worried this helmet would not protect my head as it is very light. But I noticed three things.1.) It looks professional and is aesthetically appealing. The white and grey neutral colors go really well. The white definitely makes the helmet stick out.2.) Practicability. This helmet can be used for bouldering, climbing, and even ice climbing. I was worried about going too high when ascending because I was worried about getting a concussion or head trauma. But this is no longer a concern. Yes, I already fell and was so glad it protected my head when I whipped lashed.3.) It was comfortable to wear. The adjustment are able to fit comfortably on my head. No chaffing or rubbing. Sporty look, having issues with certain sunglasses

No climbing company condones this, but I believe that's just because they haven't ran the cycling certification safety tests on them -- ie: they don't want to go through the extra engineering of cycling failures as well as externalities from cycling, so they all sorta say "don't cycle with this product." but I always have and always will.by far the sickest looking helmet that is qualified for international skimo in 2020; regulations have changed recently and not all the helmets that were traditionally used are allowed anymore -- and this one is! it looks dope in the Petzl/orange color scheme.

Super great helmet for climbing/mountaineering!

Magnetic chin locks are super great and make it easy to put on with gloves. Adjustable and light - great for climbing and mountaineering. I like the bright color option and options for keeping a headlamp in place and out of the way. I have worn this helmet on Mt. Rainier for extended periods of time and have had no issues with it irritating me skin/head (which I usually have from helmets). Very comfortable for longer periods of time. Light and not too noticeable at all. I like that it comes with extra padding and a cloth bag as well. Used it for outdoor climbing as well and it's super great. Would recommend just buying this helmet instead of using a rental! It's worth it!
