Great Case for the price!

It's a very neat looking, sturdy case with a lot of minimalist design. It might be a bit boxy for most, but it's one of the better looking ones for the price-range, air flow and options for expansion ports - I have a CD drive that I still occasionally use, so finding a newer, sleek case that still left space for those was tricky. The built in fans have been performing well. The case offers a lot of opportunity for alternate fan configuration, though, so if you're unhappy with the stock options, is relatively easy to install different fans or additional ones. The case can come apart in multiple ways and while I had a slight issue installing a 3-fan AOI water cooler (more on that in a moment), it seemed pretty easy to navigate around the case to install all of the ... MoreIt's a very neat looking, sturdy case with a lot of minimalist design. The case can come apart in multiple ways and while I had a slight issue installing a 3-fan AOI water cooler (more on that in a moment), it seemed pretty easy to navigate around the case to install all of the parts. The case has a lot of cable management features, with about five or six velcro straps installed on the side of the case opposite where the motherboard sits and some cables already set along a pretty tidy path there. The bed that the board sits on also has a fair amount of holes that you can thread wire through to keep things out of the way of the main board and not obstructing airflow. The tempered glass is a neat feature. While it does remove the option of mounting more fans, it allows you to easily get a look at your build while it's running, something that makes double-checking fans are spinning up easier. The glass is also on a hinged door, so it's easier to quickly open up the case and adjust things. There's a nifty fan hub that you can plug multiple fans into when then connects to the motherboard, allowing you to adjust things all at once. At least in theory. I have not been able to get this feature to work, thought that could honestly come down to compatibility between the mobo and the fan hub Negatives are minimal. The power switch feels a little cheap. It looks neat, especially since it has RGB back-lighting that matches with the lights on the front fans, but it feels kinda plastic-y when pressing it. The hinged door is great for opening up the case to make quick adjustments, but it makes lager-scale installations difficult. I had to remove it wholesale when installing the motherboard. This is fairly common, but the way the hinge was setup made it tricky to remove and then re-install the plate. The case is capable of fitting one of the big, three-fan AOI water coolers, but you may lose use of one of your expansion bays. I don't know if this is more to do with the water cooler I have than the case, though. Overall, this is a great case. I have some nitpicks and the setup guide is a bit unhelpful when it comes to RGB setup and the fan hub, but it works wonderfully otherwise.

There is no way around this as the way the top of the case was designed it has separate mounting slots for different widths of radiators and the slots for the narrower rads do not reach to the back of the case. For some this may not be an issue but for me I couldnt stand to see my rad off center of the motherboard and have a fan hidden entirely. This could have been easily avoided by making a removable radiator bracket that the slots reached the rear of the case on, or making the optical bay removable, which with the original version I get, but with the full tempered glass panel and the fact that very few people actually use optical drives anymore would make sense. So I will save the case for another aircooled build as I do love the enthoo, but if you are thinking of using an aio with a 360 rad then I would highly suggest getting another case.

I did also remove the side panel that normally hides the drive bays just to make loop setup easier(I'll put it back in next time I drain the loop). I'll also note that this case does not support vertical GPUs. Since I already had to cut in order to make my pump fit I figured I would mod the back brackets to fit a vert. GPU. Overall this case is great. I had to remove some metal to do everything I wanted, but that is my fault for poor planning. This case is sturdy feeling and for standard cooling solution will perform fine. If you're willing to mod this case still works for more exotic cooling, but you'd probably be better off just getting something designed for water loops.

Great case!!!
10 May 2023

This is a great case. It holds plenty of hard drives and they are easy to install. My motherboard didn't have enough sata data ports and I've had to add cards for that and I have plenty of room. My cpu fan is 5 x 4 x 6 inches and fits perfectly. I tried unscrewing the glass panel and it broke. So don't try it. It has sliding hinges to take it off. I bought a 2nd case and I'm going to paint it before I move my components, and I'm not messing with the glass again, lol. Plus I love having my Blu-ray and DVD RW in my case. The case is great, just make sure you're MB can handle all the hook ups, extra USB 3 ports ect......

I live this Case

I wish had chosen the Phanteks Ethoo Pro Case for my build last year (Ryzen 3900x). But this year I had a strange urge to build a mostly era correct Windows XP machine, but not just any old Windows XP machine; I wanted to build a High End (for the time period) Ultimate XP Retro Gaming Computer with as much retro stuff as I could find. At first, I tried to find a computer case from the mid-2000s, but they were more expensive than buying a new case. I chose the Phanteks Ethoo Pro Case partly because of the three 5.25” bays two of which I installed Asus optical drives since most of my old games are on CD. The 3rd bay I installed a 3.5” floppy drive. Why would I need a 3.5” floppy drive? Well, normally I would not, but occasionally I write CNC programs for mid-2000 era CNCs (especially Haas machines) and most require a floppy to upload programs. So, it may be a handy thing to have. On to the specs of my strange PC. Most of the parts were purchased used except for the PC box, fans, PSU, optical drives and the RGB strips. Windows XP Pro 32 bit. EVGA 122-2k-nf68-b1 nForce 680i Motherboard. Two XFX 8800 GTX 768MB graphics cards in SLI configuration. 4 core Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 processor running at 3GHz. Four 1 GB sticks of Corsair XMS2-6400 Ram. Thermaltake 750-watt 80 plus gold semi-modular power supply. Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card. Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD. I know Windows XP does not support the TRIM function, but it still works great. My other XP machine has had an SSD for a few years without any issues. And… 2 1TB hard drives. But… the question is: Will it run Crysis? Yes… it does with all the settings on high.

Improvements and Laziness over the years

This is my second Enthoo Pro case. My first was the one with the plastic window in the side panel. I bought that five years ago. No problems with it. I recently bought the Tempered Glass edition for a new build. I can see where there was case improvements from the past 5 years. They've added more tie-down locations, changed the designs of some screws from rounded tops to flat, and even changed the color of the fan blades from white to black. But the good stops about there. The top panel used to be made from a stamped mesh that is about 0.75mm thick with holes I measured to be 2±0.5mm in diameter. This mesh was made so it wrapped securely into the top panel. The top panel used to be made from a stamped mesh that is about 0.75mm thick with holes I measured to be 2±0.5mm in diameter. This mesh was made so it wrapped securely into the top panel. Now, there is a stamped mesh sheet 0.4mm thick glued onto another mesh sheet (that is in turn secured to the case). This thin sheet feels cheap and flimsy, like it would fall off the case. That said, this new mesh does have smaller holes which I measured to also be 0.4mm. So there is an added filtration. The front panel of my case has the mesh bowing up in some areas which created some gaps between the mesh and the plastic. This was caused by over tightening of the screen securing the mesh to the panel. As a whole, I noticed that many of the screws are over tightened on the case. This was not an issue on my previous case, however, I will note this could have just been happenstance (where my new case happened to pass QC on accident). TL;DR Ecellent and affordable case design supporting water-cooling and is on par with premium cases. Phanteks has improved the design over the years, but has gimped out on manufacturing quality.

Lots Of Room To Spare!

Overall, I would buy this case again in a heartbeat. It comes with a single fan mounted in the back and one mounted up front but it gives the options to add either bigger fans or more fans in both places depending on the size of the fans you choose. You can also add fans top and bottom to the case as well. There are filters on the top of the case as well as under the bottom of the case. It's got good airflow throughout the case. Phanteks did a great job designing this one. I placed a 3 fan Fractal CPU cooler in the case with a 3 fan radiator up top and it fit just fine. If you're looking for a case with room, this is really one to consider. If I build another gaming computer, I'll go back to this case again for sure. Current build below. Lovely Case, Quirky Niggles

I really wanted to get a different case, but it was sold out. I waited 8 weeks for new stock to come in before giving up. After looking for another, I found this Phanteks case. With few exceptions, I've come to the conclusion that this is a better case. As the summary states, this case is quite spacious even by full-size standards. There's room to spare for just about everything. It's obvious that a lot of thought went into the design: rigid sheet metal, perforations and shaping of said metal, cable management, tool-less design, removable filters, etc. Other nice touches include a partitioned parts storage case and *gasp!* an honest to goodness manual! You simply don't find some of that anymore. Everything else is cheap, thin sheet metal, sub-par construction, parts ... MoreI really wanted to get a different case, but it was sold out. Everything else is cheap, thin sheet metal, sub-par construction, parts in baggies, and minimalist documentation (if any), often poorly translated from Mandarin or Cantonese. On the whole, it's the easiest case I've ever worked with in my 40+ years in IT. I would gush on, except that I need to discuss the niggles and quirks lest I run out of space: * To be clear, the case is designed to be tool-less, and it is just that in principle. In practice, it has to be turned tool-less; a Philips screwdriver is required as some pre-installed screws are overtightened (other reviews mention this). * Some of the pre-run cabling may need to be rerouted or shifted to take the case apart for the build, or may detach from the connection point. Not a big deal, except that the keyed guides go along for the ride. One or two is fine, but I checked the lot and all of them do! When reattached, the pin set itself is prone to bending (this niggle was a problem when I had to relocate the rear fan to make room for the AIO radiator). * The documentation, while fantastic, is a touch short on clarity here and there. I had to ring Phanteks to clear one matter up (tech support was fabulous here). * I purchased the tempered glass variant. The removable panel is hinged at the back, and two thumbscrews hold it shut. Those thumbscrews are awfully short; so short that one must brace the panel against the case to insert them. They are so short that they can only be given a mere ½-¾ turn before they're tight. To me that's not enough, and is the one thing that bothers me the most. I considered removing the foam washer for greater length, but that could lead to glass fracture. If Phanteks reads this: Please use longer thumbscrews!!! Overall, the quirks and niggles do not warrant a points reduction. They're just things I noticed, and nothing more; others may or may not be bothered by them. However, leaving them unmentioned would be a disservice. I'm still puzzling out a question regarding the built-in PWM hub. It's uncertain if the relevant issue is due to the hub or my mainboard. If it turns out to be due to the hub, I'll add it to this review. Otherwise I'll remove the mention.

Overall good case

I really like this case, it's spacious, attractive, and sports three 5.25" external drive bays. Front I/I is hidden behind a door preventing contaminate buildup from pets, kids. or dust when not in use. The case has cable management points well thought out and includes several Velcro straps for additional routing of cables. I'm also a fan of how much of the case is modular. Almost everything can be taken off the case with the exception of the motherboard tray for obvious reasons. Hard drive cages are held in with thumbscrews and even the bottom mounting bracket that the bottom cage slides into comes out easily. I did have to knock an egg for the listed cons though. The hinges for that tempered glass door do not inspire confidence from me when the door is open and the case is standing up though I'm sure they're adequately rated for weight. They're also a pain when you lift the door off to set the case up because lining them back up at the same time can be difficult with the large piece of unweildy glass. The PSU shroud, while removable could really use a bit if perforation in the top so it isn't potentially blocking an installed bottom intake fan to the rest of the case. Personally, I removed the bottom HDD cage (necessary of full fan/radiator mounting on bottom of the case) but I don't like that if you remove one the other isn't mounted as securely. I like the inclusion of vibrational foam on the rear of the cage but due to the hanging nature of the top cage mounting I worry if 3 full 3.5" drives were mounted there might be a rattle against the side rail. I've since fixed the issue by spray gluing in a piece of foam inside a side rail next to the cage but it would have been nice if the had one extra thumbscrew in that side rail for stability when one cage is removed. Final notes, buy the case, it's great. Also everyone who put big or heavy in the Cons section, it's full ATX with listed dimensions. I don't know what you were expecting.

Very nice

Wow, have cases come a long way. This is a great case that I compare to my favorite case of all time by Zalman (MS800 circa 2013). Both with tons of room and easy to work on. What I like about the Zalman over this case is it's 9 exterior 5.25" bay potential. Personally, I don't know why to own either this case or the Zalman without building a server, but I guess some fancy water cooling systems can take up space that would lead to the need to remove the cages. If not, the Zalman's ability to swap drives without opening the case is the difference. Theoretically, with three 5-drive cages, the Zalman can fit a remarkable 15 drives externally which can be swapped without having to break into the case. Still, the price to quality of this case is fantastic. Love the Fan ... MoreWow, have cases come a long way. Still, the price to quality of this case is fantastic. Love the Fan header which can allow (I think) up to 7 fans to be monitored by the motherboard but you plug in the mobo CPU fan into it. Traditional CPU cooling blocks/fans have short power cables and Phantek should ship an extension cable. Fortunately I had some fan extension cables available from previous builds. My CPU is the new 12 core from AMD which has an RGB cooling block on it and it looks fantastic through the glass. The ability to minimize cabling makes this build look clean and maximizes air flow. The look of the case is great, with a very good price-point and quality feel. Well done Phantek!!!
