Alright as a value toothbrush, but could do better

I like the fact that Philips is now embracing the "value" sector, bringing in a model without the fancy bells and whistles yet keeping the essentials needed for a great toothbrush. Specifically, I really like the fact that this toothbrush carries a USB charger, which is one of the reasons why I have not owned a Sonicare toothbrush before. Additionally, the vibration is strong, unlike the AA-powered toothbrushes that tend to lose power over time. That being said, I still think that this toothbrush could do better in terms of delivering value when compared to other generic brands out there. When looking at a toothbrush around this price range, most generic toothbrush comes with at least 4-8 replacement heads, enough for 1-2 years' worth of replacements. On the other hand, this toothbrush does not come with any replacement heads, meaning that after the initial head is depleted you will need to spend almost 1/3 of the cost to just buy one head. Given that the generic gives similar functionalities, I am not sure if spending almost another $100 for brush head replacements over the course of 2 years would be worth the cost of keeping this value toothbrush.Another observation I got from this toothbrush is that it takes way too long to charge. Unlike wall bricks that tend to remain stationary, USB chargers tend to be temporary (e.g. being plugged into the computer), so it is important for the charger to work quickly to charge the toothbrush. That said, this one takes overnight to charge the toothbrush out of the box (and it does not include a charger for you to do so). This is a bit frustrating since now you end up having to free up a USB port somewhere (and for a long time) if you wish to fully charge your toothbrush.

First off, I received this toothbrush for free as part of a trial study, but that in no way has affected my review. I have been using electric toothbrushes at least the past two decades. In that time I have tried hundred dollar electric toothbrushes and seven dollar electric toothbrushes. Usually more money equates to a better quality toothbrush. I cannot think of an electric toothbrush that was under $50 that I really liked using until this Sonicare toothbrush. The biggest draw to this toothbrush for me was the strength. It has two settings, high and low. I would prefer one more strength setting, but the top speed is what sold me. If I have an electric toothbrush that is not strong enough I can tell it by some inflammation at the gumline. If I have an electric toothbrush that is not strong enough I can tell it by some inflammation at the gumline. I used this toothbrush for two weeks straight and had no issues. Another pro is the battery life. It does have a charger, but my sink area is kind of small and I have kids which means I don't have room to leave anything around. It's a hassle to charge so the battery life is important to me. I brush for approximately two and half minutes and used it for 14 days and I have not had to charge it. Finally, one aspect that I thought would be negative ended up being a positive. I generally like larger toothbrush heads. This one is smaller than what I like, but the shape of it allows me to brush my usually hard to hit rear teeth.

Highly recommend!

This is my first time using a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. In the past, I have used both another brand of electric toothbrushes and manual toothbrushes. I found the Sonicare to be superior for cleaning my teeth and gums. Here's why:The first thing that I love about this toothbrush is the QuadPacer. This function gives a signal at every 30 second interval that alerts me to move to another section of my mouth. I found this feature to be helpful in ensuring that I dedicated an equal amount of time to each section for thorough cleaning.Secondly, compared to past toothbrushes, the Sonicare gave me a more noticeable, smoother clean along my teeth surface and gumline. I could run my tongue along the surface and it almost felt as smooth as a professional dental clean. I found this very hard to achieve with manual toothbrushes.Another feature I loved was how small, yet effective the brush head was. Manual toothbrushes can be quite bulky which makes it hard to reach my back teeth. This was something my dentist cautioned me about in the past, since I am someone with healthy wisdom teeth intact. The Sonicare was able to effortlessly reach my back teeth and left the surfaces feeling just as smooth and tended to as the rest of my teeth. The last positive feature for me was the battery life and portability. Upon receiving the toothbrush, I charged it overnight. By the next day it was fully charged and I was able to use it for a full 2 weeks at least, without needing to recharge. As someone who likes to travel, this is a plus for me. The toothbrush head also comes with its own cover which I loved for keeping it sanitary. My only critique is that, while the toothbrush is gentle, yet effective in thoroughly cleaning my teeth and gums, I found that the brush head by itself was not effective as a tongue cleaner. I always felt that my tongue was not thoroughly clean after brushing, so I used the toothbrush in conjunction with my tongue cleaner to keep bad breath at bay.In summary, Sonicare uses gentle strokes and pulses to clean the teeth which I found to be highly effective and felt as though I got a better clean than with my previous toothbrushes. However, the brush head alone was not effective as a tongue cleaner so I would recommend using one in conjunction with the Sonicare for adequate tongue care.*Disclaimer* I received this product for free as part of a product test. However, this is my honest opinion.

I Really Like This Little Toothbrush!

I ended up liking this Sonicare brush better than I thought I would. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of these two minor reasons: (1) the brush head is a bit smaller than I would like - it reminds me of a child toothbrush size - and (2) the toothbrush stops going after the two minute timer runs out - sometimes that's not long enough for me.Otherwise, it's great! It has a neat small footprint on my countertop. It stays charged for a long time between charges. I don't keep mine plugged into the wall all the time. When it runs out of power, it gives a warning beep so you'll know to plug it in again. The brush bristles are very soft, which is how they should be. The two-minute quadrant timer comes in handy, though I wish it didn't just stop after two minutes as I like to brush a little longer. No worries though, just turn it on again.I have not had a dentist clean my teeth since I bought this, but am looking forward to a good checkup. Have used my brush for several weeks now and would highly recommend it!

I love the simplicity of this electric toothbrush!
23 August 2022

I had a Philips electric toothbrush for literally 10 years. It was SUCH a work horse! I absolutely LOVED it! When I wore through the rubber on/off switch I had to break down and get a new one and I don't like change! But I researched the entire Philips line and opted for the cleanest, simplest replacement. The handle is much smaller in diameter than my old toothbrush, so it doesn't feel quite as "sturdy," but so far so good! My next electric toothbrush purchase from Philips is going to be a brush with stronger cleaning power. My current brush is 2x's the cleaning power of a normal toothbrush, but I would like to step it up. I just don't want a complicated toothbrush. Life is too complicated as it is! Oy vey! Any suggestions, Philips customer service team?

I also love how I do not have to constantly charge the toothbrush and the battery lasts for a couple of weeks. The handle is a little heavy and bulky. However, it is still comfortable to hold. On the outside, the toothbrush looks very simple, but its design is packed with power that makes it easy to maintain good oral health and makes me want to keep using it. I received this toothbrush for free as part of a product test, but I like it so much that I would buy it in the future.

My Gums Feel Healthy and Teeth Are Sparkling

Wow, I never realized that I wasn't brushing long enough. Thanks to the Sonicare timer, I now know I need to brush longer. Since I started using the Sonicare brush, I have discovered that my teeth look whiter, smoother, and plaque is gone. I fully intend to replace my regular toothbrush with this one.The toothbrush holds a charge for a long period. I typically charge it after about 10 days, but so far, I've not yet had it run out.It did take me a couple of uses to get used to the brush. I kept expecting that I'd need to move the brush vigorously but I didn't. Just a slight movement from section to section is all that is required to get a full massaging experience of the gums. Thanks to the Sonicare timer, I now know I need to brush longer. Since I started using the Sonicare brush, I have discovered that my teeth look whiter, smoother, and plaque is gone. I'm interested to see if my dentist notices a difference in my teeth and gums when I go for my next appointment.I received this toothbrush for free for my honest opinion. Slimline brushing
24 November 2021

The Sonicare 2100 Series power toothbrush is definitely a new experience in brushing. I had a Sonicare toothbrush many years ago, and noticed that this one is "smaller" in many ways. The first is in the "handle" it is slimmer than any rechargeable toothbrush that I have ever used. It helps in that it makes it feel lighter and is easier to maneuver. The second way that it is slimmer, is in the C1 brush head that is used. It is smaller than the typical manual or power toothbrush that I have ever used. I haven't looked to see if there are other "sizes" that are available that can be used or not. The smaller head does seem to make it easier to reach and brush the back teeth. It also seems that the smaller head does make for better "use" or amount of toothpaste being ... MoreThe Sonicare 2100 Series power toothbrush is definitely a new experience in brushing. I did not use the "warm up" feature, that is the feature of the toothbrush that will allow you to get used to a power toothbrush. I have been using a power toothbrush for quite awhile, so that feature wasn't going to be useful to me. The instructions provided the information in how to "disable" the feature. The toothbrush also holds a charge for about 2 weeks if not a bit longer. One feature that I do think is missing is the brushing duration. It has the smart timer/quad pacer that provides notification on when to move to the next area. With my previous toothbrush, I was able to have a longer brushing duration (over 2 min), which allowed me to focus a little bit more on areas that I have had dental issues.

The New Slimmed Down Still Great Sonicare!
24 November 2021

I am a longtime Sonicare electric toothbrush user. I use exclusively the low-end models, since they serve their intended purposes just fine without frill or gimmick. Was offered this new product for free as a test user, and I can unequivocally say it is a great replacement for my still functioning but old-timer Sonicare. My previous one had a magnet at the bottom of the brush head that screwed onto the handle. This new toothbrush is slim and slick profile-wise from the brush head all the way down to the handle. The intensity is just fine after EasyStart ease-in time period, and the ever-helpful QuadPacer is there to help with time management. The unit was shipped partially charged, and it took about 10 hours to full charge. This brings me to the only gripe ... MoreI am a longtime Sonicare electric toothbrush user. The outer box does say that USB power adapter is not included, and there was also an insert inside asking to contact customer service if one is needed. I understand and applaud the corporation striving to be a socially responsible business, but it will be great to offer guidance on the needed minimal power output for the user-supplied adapter, i.e.: 5v@1a vs [email protected] do give the new style Sonicare a try, which is a joy to hold since it is not much bigger as compared to the manual toothbrush, but still packing the power to get the job done.

awesome brushing experience, some minor issues
10 November 2022

The brushing experience is wonderful. My teeth feel much cleaner than with my old electric toothbrushes or even a very careful manual brushing. Some sensitive areas on my gums improved rapidly. A bonus is that the frequency is almost exactly Middle C (C4), so you can tune a musical instrument to it.Negatives (minor): My brush came with a free brush head coupon. The website interaction is a mess, and I was never able to redeem the coupon. Another issue is that when fully-charged and in the charger, my brush beeps every minute or so, which is annoying. Problem solved by leaving it out of the charger. It really does hold a charge for a couple of weeks of brushing, so that's not a big problem.
