Amazing little Air Fryer

I have to say that this is my second air fryer (another brand not being mentioned) and I had always found them a 'leave in the cupboard most of the time' devices.... However this little guy has changed my opinion completely! When I first opened the box (after my cat decided to let me do so - pic attached!) I was struck by how compact it is. This worried me as to capacity, but I needn't have been concerned as it is surprising how much you can fit into it despite it's diminutive size. As you can see form the pics I can easily fit in two large fish cakes PLUS chips! Absolutely great as in 20 minutes everything was cooked to perfection.I have mainly used it to cook fish and chips to be honest, as it just does it so much better than my oven... I mean A LOT BETTER... ... MoreI have to say that this is my second air fryer (another brand not being mentioned) and I had always found them a 'leave in the cupboard most of the time' devices.... Absolutely great as in 20 minutes everything was cooked to perfection.I have mainly used it to cook fish and chips to be honest, as it just does it so much better than my oven... I mean A LOT BETTER... the fish is succulent and crispy, and the chips are lovely, with no oily residue. For this I simply used the 'Frozen Chips' preset. which seemed to give the perfect balance of heat and time.I did do some marinaded chicken drumsticks in it too... At first I put it on a little hot (as I hadn't realised I should really lower suggested temperatures from the packets as it is so much more efficient than my oven. Once I did this they came out brilliantly - really really juicy. Also one day I had some chips left over from a trip to my local chippy - so I popped them in the fridge and decided to try and heat them up the following day. Usually this results in either 'charcoal sticks' or sogginess.... not now! They came out great - just like they were when I got them fresh.... I was very impressed.I notice that you can also get a 'baking kit' - which I will seriously now buy, as I am convinced it will bake cakes just as well as it does the rest. Plus I notice there is also a little grille piece and skewer set as well... the two tier grill piece would be great to do more food, although I suspect you would need to lower temps a bit more to stop the stuff on the top burning. My Mum has been ill over my test period, so being able to get delicious and nutritious food cooked quickly and with almost no mess was perfect - Oh yes forgot to add how easy it is to clean. The food residue just falls off with almost no washing - and it's really easy to dry. This was one reason my previous fryer was not used, as it was such a pain to clean... Philips have done a really good job on making this one effortless to clean.I did cook some stuff using the manual temp/time settings, and that's how I realised about the lower required temps, however the presets are very accurate and so you hardly need to use the manual way. I did also use the 'keep warm function' for my chicken drumsticks, as they cooked so quick I wasn't actually hungry by the time they were done - it kept them warm without drying them out.I did also load up the app, and saw lots of great recipes. I didn't have time to try them due to my Mum being ill, but I am DEFINITELY GOING TO!!!There is only ONE NEGATIVE thing about this fryer, and that is the instructions (or lack of them). I have never had such a hard time finding an instruction leaflet, indeed if I hadn't been testing it for Philips, and so had a link included in one of the emails, I doubt I would have found them! Although you can get to grips with the machine without them, I recommend Philips either add them to the box, or give a CLEAR LINK to them in the package.... but really that's my only gripe.

I would not change a thing!

My airfryer is probably the most used appliance in my kitchen after my gas range. It is really a mini convection oven for small quantities of food. I live alone, and the capacity is perfect for one or two. Also, power usage is much less than the big convection oven on my range.Cleanup is a snap: spray with hot water, wipe with a soapy sponge, spray to remove the detergent, and dry the basket assembly. While the basket is rated safe for the dishwasher, it's far more convenient to simply hand wash.Phillips website offers dozens of practical recipes and I'm slowly working my way through them. I recommend the Brussels sproyts.

While the non-stick coating seems intact, the dent raises durability and aesthetic concerns. It's disappointing to receive a product with such an obvious flaw, especially from a brand like Philips.Additionally, the capacity description of 4.1L proved to be misleading. Nice looking and excellent cooking functions
25 February 2022

The cooking functions and the appearance of this airfryer are great. However the actual product dimensions is around 9 x 9 at top, 10 x 10 at base and 11 inches at height, much smaller than the misleading dimensions 13.1 x 13.1 x 13.8 inches under Product Information online. The cooking basket holds only 6 mi-section chicken wings. To me as a consumer, the dimensions of the cooking basket is very important. If that information is included, I would make a better decision to purchase HD9270/91 instead of HD9252/91.Since display of this product is not available in any local retail stores 25 miles near me, I had to purchase the airfryer online but not 100% satisfied with the size of the cooking basket. I will live with it unless Philips PR can reach out for help.

One Major Flaw
18 November 2022

It cooks very well and is easy to clean. BUT there is one major issue I have EVERY time I use this. I load the basket with whatever I’m cooking, set the temp, and set the time. But then when I press start, it won’t work. I just get this annoying beeping sound. The only way to solve it is to unplug and start over. Sometimes my raw chicken, shrimp, etc will sit in the basket for 20+ minutes while I try to get the air fryer to work. It’s possible that this is a faulty product and if so I would love a replacement.

I purchased this productas my wife and myself are now in early 80s and trying to make normal everyday tasks abit easier to carry out. We therefore ,after much research, that an Air cooker wouldbe simpler to use than a full size oven and easier to clean. The reality has been how ever that instructions are no wqhere full enough for us to use this machine for all our basic cooking requirements, i.e coking sausages only instructs cooking THIN sausages and we use the standard size ones. There is a so called APP that is available to greatly assist in using the air cooker. BUT we have no device to use with such an APP . So we are having to use be trial and a great deal of error. Simple to use, on the small size
21 January 2023

This is my first air fryer, wasn't certain how useful it would be overall for our family eating habits and preferences. It's a bit small for a full family serving of oven fries or brussel sprouts, but we are partial empty nesters, works for partial household. It mostly saves about 30% time for items that would be cooked equally well in a full oven or toaster oven. Only the brussel sprouts actually are cooked better (crisp and browned). I appreciate the time and energy savings, less use of natural gas oven. Easy to clean.

Using this every day!
5 March 2023

It is small, so not probably appropriate for a family of more than two. I have used it for about 30 different things and the only thing I would not do again was bacon. The bacon situation set off my smoke alarm. But everything else has been terrific, from french fries and onion rings, and every kind of frozen packaged item to sausages and chicken breast. I much prefer this basket type than the one that looks like a toaster oven. I have tried two of those, and never got the hang of it. This is so easy And quick.

I could not be more happy with this airfryer's cooking capability so far. I have been cooking every meal in it since the day it arrived! From hard boiled eggs to grilled cheese and everything in between! I dont know why it took me so long to discover this gem! Clean up is really easy!!This air fryer comes with an app, and there are TONS of recipes to follow. I cant wait to really expand my cooking to include this regularly. The only 2 things I would change is the small basket size, and the vent location. Its great for 1-2 people but I could not fit 2 standard sized sandwiches in it and had to rotate them. Its definitely small enough to fit on the counter top, so storage is a cinch! The vent really blows hot air so finding a spot to run it was a little challenging, ... MoreI could not be more happy with this airfryer's cooking capability so far. The only 2 things I would change is the small basket size, and the vent location. Its great for 1-2 people but I could not fit 2 standard sized sandwiches in it and had to rotate them. Its definitely small enough to fit on the counter top, so storage is a cinch! The vent really blows hot air so finding a spot to run it was a little challenging, due to my fire hazard worries, that was a red flag, and I am just mindful of location when cooking.

We eat healthier now and love the tasty crunch!
16 January 2023

My daughter bought me this airfryer because it is a healthier way to enjoy the crisp foods that I used to fry in oil. This airfryer cooks french fries, chicken, and many other foods with the crispy crunch I love. It is so easy to clean and dishwasher safe too! The 7 preset programs make it simple to set for certain types of food I am using. I use this Phillips Essential Airfryer almost every day now because my family and I want to eat healthier foods that still have that crunchy goodness and taste.
