Philips Avent Warms Evenly, No Hotspots Fast Bottle Warmer

We purchased this warmer to go with our Philips Avent glass bottles. It heats VERY inconsistently. I noticed sometimes bottles feel very hot and other times they feel cooler. The directions indicate that you set the dial to the amount of milk in mL, so a 90mL bottle should be set to 90mL. Then you add water up to match the milk in the bottle. So as not to waste precious breastmilk, I did an experiment and heated several bottles of whole milk. I filled a bottle to 120ml and set the warmer to 120ml, it heated the bottle to 115° (cooled a bit before I took the photo). Breastmilk should NEVER be heated above 104° because it damages the nutrients. At 120°, breastmilk nutrients are considered significantly damaged. Here it is in the middle of the night and I just heated a 140mL bottle of breastmilk on the 90mL setting. The bottle felt hot, so I grabbed my thermometer and the milk was up to 108°!!! How is this device so poorly made that it is overheating on a lower setting? How many ruined bottles of breastmilk have I given my baby? I’m extremely upset because I work very hard for my breastmilk and want to give my baby the best. I’m returning immediately and splurging on the Baby Brezza warmer since it’s got more sensors to prevent overheating. I can’t let this happen to more liquid gold.

I love that you can adjust the dial to how many ounces you’re trying to heat up. It makes the milk warm enough for baby to handle but not too warm that you have to wait for it to cool down. It was very easy to figure out and simple to use especially if you read through the instructions. Only thing I don’t like is the instructions don’t really have any explanations for the different settings and just has pictures. A written explanation would probably be best or a chart. But other than that no other complaints.

We were using a hot mug of water to warm bottles which could sometimes take forever with reheating the water over and over to get it just right. Literally I can make a 5oz bottle and have is perfectly 98F- 103F in 3 minutes. It is super helpful overnight with bottles. Cut down 10 mins of my previous warning method (which all moms and dads know 10 extra of sleep does make a difference). I say it is worth the money spent for us. But we do warm every bottle, so if you are on the fence consider how much you might be using it anyway. One thing to note. Do not pour warm water into the basin. The bottle will get too hot. One design features lacking is an internal temp sensor to switch off when water gets too hot… Philips should upgrade the design features for more safety with temp sensing.
