Philips EasyTouch GC488/60 Garment Stand Steamer

This Philips steamer is a great addition for the laundry and is more versatile than I expected. The set up out of the box was pretty straightforward and easy to assemble. The adjustable height is a great feature as I’m a bit taller than average. Operating it is fairly simple and once turned on it heats up quickly ready for action. So having returned to the office environment I have needed to dig out my business wardrobe again and consider the weekly ironing task. This steamer had my shirts looking good and ready to wear. It took a little trial and error to get the right technique and using the included glove accessory is important. It was easier than ironing and I didn’t believe it at first but quicker than dragging out the iron and ironing board. It took a little trial and error to get the right technique and using the included glove accessory is important. It was easier than ironing and I didn’t believe it at first but quicker than dragging out the iron and ironing board. Although there are some shirts I own that are difficult to iron and the steamer couldn’t manage to get them wrinkle free. I feel those shirts will be heading to a charity drop off soon.I have also used it to freshen up wool trousers and other garments between dry cleans, saving a bit of money which is needed at the moment with everything increasing in price. All said and done it's a good well made accessory for the laundry.

I was surprised at the size of this steamer once unpacked and out of the box as it seemed to be so light when it arrived.I had a few issues setting up as the instructions weren’t overly clear. I’m still unsure if I’ve attached the “mat” to the stand properly but it worked well so no biggie!I also had trouble understanding how to fill the tank as the instructions seemed to show as if the top should flip open to fill but it felt as if that would break and I wasn’t prepared to force it so I unscrewed the cap and filled that way - again still unsure if that was right!Once I got going though it was full steam ahead .. haha. I chose a middle steam setting and gave a pleated skirt that I don’t often wear due to the difficulty of ironing a good going over. I chose a middle steam setting and gave a pleated skirt that I don’t often wear due to the difficulty of ironing a good going over. So easy!I also took the creases out of a linen pillowcase (bam!) and gave one of hubby’s tshirts (those never see the iron) some love!Once going I had little trouble but think I’d refine my technique given a few more uses.I did find that the tank leaked a little when removing but will look into this further. Might see if I can likewise find clearer instructions. All up though very happy to welcome this into my household

Wow! First impressions have been great so far. I’m loving this stand steamer!I didn’t really need instructions for putting it together- it was surprisingly easy to assemble. The only step I did struggle with was to attach the mat to the stand, it was quite tight to put on and I was actually scared it will snap. I did get it on eventually but it took me a good 5 minutes to figure out the best way. When I turned the steamer on, it felt like a completely different experience when using the iron. The steamer heated up really quick on just level one and it was so satisfying to see the steam coming out. It was even more satisfying to see all the creases coming out from my clothes. I did all my clothes on level one and the steamer head runs smoothly on the clothes.I ... MoreWow! First impressions have been great so far. I did all my clothes on level one and the steamer head runs smoothly on the clothes.I also have a little handmade clothing business so I do a lot of sewing with different fabrics. We have limited space so using this stand steamer has been so much more convenient and quicker than pulling out my ironing board and iron from the storage. The water tank is compact and small enough to fill up easily in my bathroom sink and it takes a lot of water too! It’s also easy to empty once you are finished using the steamer- just let the water run out in the bath or shower or in the sink.Integrated garment hanger is also a great addition- I am able to hang up my clothes and don’t need to hold them awkwardly while I use the steamer. I like that the stand is adjustable and I can pack it away once done using it.It also looks very stylish wherever I use it- in our laundry room, bedroom on even in living room. I love the minimalistic style and the white/grey/golden colours.Philips definitely did not disappoint with this garment steamer! You really do get a great product for such an affordable price!
