Cracking lamp. This is one of the very few LED lamps available that even gets vlose to a decent halogen for light quality, and to date by far the most reliable in my experience. We have an interior hall area that has very little natural light, but the usual dreary old low-CRI LEDs really weren't something to put up with right in the heart of a living space. But these are fine, hard to tell from the top of range 12V Philips Master QIs they have replaced. Compared to a typical 50W halogen the energy saving is around 89% and on even a modest ceiling downlight installation that's a lot of juice. I reckon our payback will be months rather than years, and of course we'll be a wee bit cooler in a hot summer! Excellent quality and light from Philips. I didn't have many doubts about how good the Philips light bulbs are and I chose these without hesitation. The light is warm but not to much on the yellow side. Works perfectly with a dimmer with no flickering nor buzzing. Pretty happy with them.

After 3 weeks the led bulbs are working well and 2 in a ceiling dual spotight give adequate light for a 2.5 x 2m room. The dimmer is a varilight v pro. I had some doubts whether the dimmer would work with a low power output of 2 x 6.2W but seemed OK. When the dimmer starts from zero to full load, the first turns don't smoothly increase the intensity. I need to revisit the dimmer to see if this can be cured with the different settings it has. I tried contacting Philips (number provided by LED Bulbs) to check if the dimmer was compatible but unfortunately during the Call options and replies it was clear that technical support was only available for businesses and not domestic clients. Quite disappointing for a company such as Philips. Next time my choice will not be ... MoreAfter 3 weeks the led bulbs are working well and 2 in a ceiling dual spotight give adequate light for a 2.5 x 2m room. The dimmer is a varilight v pro. I am switched my downstairs to "cool white" LED. Great for reducing your electricity bills and cool white is a brighter but gentler and more modern light. win-win! I still have the traditional yellow white upstairs in the bedrooms but downstairs it looks so fresh. Usual John Lewis service - fast and efficient.
Excellent replacement for halogen. Really good colour rendering, so no need to take things to the window to check colours. They are very slightly whiter than the halogens, but I think 3000k is the perfect colour for general home lighting. Bright enough for spot task lighting but without the clinical feel of a workplace.
Wanted a bright clear light. These seem to give quite a crisp almost clinical brightness. 2 stars for features - they are light bulbs. Only had them for a few days so non committal on reliability. Hoping that they will last
These are bright and not too stark a white. However, Philips lose a star because LED bulbs do NOT last as long as claimed and they keep changing the design. So you end up with non matching bulbs in a room that needs several. In this case, why could they not stick with the previous look of their 460 lumen bulbs - even if they had succeeded in reducing the wattage?
I had knocked my touch-to-switch-on bedside lamp and it did not work anymore. So I bought a replacement bulb, but was told in the shop I could only return it in the original packaging. However, the bulb did not come in a simple cardboard box but in a sealed unit made of cardboard and moulded plastic. It is impossible to open that without damaging the packaging. So, had the lamp been broken, I would have been left with a useless bulb. Fortunately it was the bulb that had gone.A plea to the manufacturers, PLEASE , pack the bulb in a reusable cardboard box, not in a sealed unit. And a plea to the shop, PLEASE put pressure on manufacturers to make packaging simpler. Thank you
I swapped our old 7W warm white bulbs in our kitchen and dining room / office for these 4W cool white bulbs. Whilst the lumens level (brightness) was slightly lower, the overall effect was a much lighter room and a room much easier to work in; these bulbs are also just a fraction of the weight of the 10 year old bulbs they replaced.
