The cables design on the Hue system in general are excellent. Be advised that the additional cable sold separately come in lengths: 8' (2.5m) and 16'. Only the 8' cable comes with a T-connector which can not be purchased separately. It is probably best to order all lights first as they come with 16' cables and T-connectors and assess if you have all you need to complete the install. If not, you should order any addition 8' cables with T-connectors as needed. I suspect Philips will have to make T-connectors available as some installs will require more of them but not necessarily more 8' cables.
This product is improperly labeled online which led to my accidental purchase as it says 2,5m instead of 2.5m (I wanted 5m). Besides the fact I was trying to get the longer cable, its pretty good. Also I discovered the T connector which doesn’t appear to be in pack I was trying to purchase and allows you to connect lights to reduce plugs. In conclusion I am disappointed that mislabeling led me to purchase something that I hadn’t intended, however, what I received is still great and helps me more down the road as I continue.

While these work (I have five plus boxes), I have a few complaints. 1) The T connectors should be sold separately. Philips forces the purchaser to buy either cables or T connectors by packaging them together. 2) You just can't buy them right now without paying 4X retail on Amazon or Ebay. There is no US supply- Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot etc are all out and have been for a month plus. The 5 meter (16 foot) units are available, but don't include the T Connectors, which appear to be unpurchasable right now. 3) The system appears to be incompatible with industry standard parts, so buyers are unable to buy more lights and extend. 4) None of this is obvious when you purchase.Thank you for addressing.Ian
We have many Philips Hue lights installed around the house and garden and are very satisfied. They really add atmosphere.
