Pros: This version now works with my Hue lights whereas V1 became very flaky. VeryCons: Terrible that Philips, known for terrible software, virtually forced me to upgrade the hardware instead of making it backward compatible.

Pros: Easy to transfer from my old bridge to the new one.App connects faster to the new bridge. If you require the new features coming out from the Hue app like entertainment connection etc. you’ll need this bridge as the old one (V1) will not be capable.Cons: Should have an option to trade in the old bridge like they had in the US & UK. Sadly we in Aus get left behind when it comes to tech stuff. Hopefully that changes sometime soon!

It was easy to set up, and hooks up with the lights. Easily controlled from the app with a few different variations, and also very easy through google Home. When linked to the PC app, the colours change well with the music and movies. Check the youtube videos, they show a good representation.

I purchased the Hue Bridge a few months ago after purchasing my first set of HUE bulbs. The Bridge is the heart of the HUE system and makes it easy to manage all HUE devices via the HUE App. I have since added many HUE Accessories very easily and I have had no issues maintaining connectivity. ( I have had experience with other Wi-Fi bulbs that directly connect to your router and they all experience drop outs ). Buy the Bridge ! Highly recommended product !
Philips couldn’t have made it more easy to set up if they tried. Works fantastically well, super user friendly and totally reliable.
There are so many reasons why I love this product. I originally disliked that its primary network connection was through an ethernet cable. Not until i realised that they designed the hue to be a closed ecosystem and adding wireless networking would be to much of an additional security risk. One thing you have to be aware of is that Philips hue uses a wireless protocol called "zigbee", which operates in the same frequency range as 2.4 ghz wireless networks, so if you have a lot of wireless networks around you and your finding hue devices not operating the way you would expect, change the zigbee channel using your hue "app". If your like me and would like to know more, do a google search with the phrase "ZigBee and WiFi Coexistence".I am a fairly advanced user and ... MoreThere are so many reasons why I love this product. If your like me and would like to know more, do a google search with the phrase "ZigBee and WiFi Coexistence".I am a fairly advanced user and I don't use the hue app or homekit to control my lights, primarily relying on "nodered" which works flawlessly. Also the battery life on the motion sensors is amazing, I have used one of my motion sensors which has activated a min once every day for 2 years, and it's still at 90%.The quality and accuracy of the color that the bulbs produce is beautiful especially when it comes to outputting kelvin. I find the LIFX bulbs in comparison, anything past 4000k feels unnatural and too bluey but with hue, it's perfectly calibrated. The one and only thing I dislike with the hue lightbulbs is the brightness (800 lumens (about 60W equivalent)) I have 3 in my room running at the same time at night, and i still would like more light. But who knows in the future they might create brighter bulbs
Difficult to work out how to migrate from first generation bridge. Ended up resting everything and starting from scratch. V2 bridge is great working with HomeKit and able to turn on/off lights remotely.
Should be able to enable the away from home mode. I have a router with both bands and can not be able to enable it. Keeps saying it is off line while I can be able to control the lights while at home. Alexa can not enable the skill either. Very frustrating.
Pretty good product and useful If you want to sync up your lights with your keyboard. It is annoying it requires ethernet and can't use WiFi. If you want some really nice lights get this as it is required for the other hue products. The only issue is they are a bit pricy.
This works exactly as it should and has for years. The bridge is why I have Hue instead of other smart light configurations, great to keep the traffic down on my network.
